Mik3F Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Welcome, You will soon be showing off what you have bought Have you decided on a gun?
The_Lord_Poncho Posted February 9 Posted February 9 It's only a matter of time before you get a gun.. And a backup, and a backup backup! Angelvill3 and Rogerborg 1 1
Angelvill3 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Welcome to the dark side. It's downhill from here. You'll start saving open tabs of stuff you want to buy.
Galvatron Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Oh dear. What have you let yourself in for entering the money pit? In all seriousness, glad you had a blast.

Not decided, I’ve always liked the MP5, but wonder if they’ll be a little short on hitting power & range. Otherwise I suppose it’s the many many M4 type. Double Bell 416 maybe ?♂️ I honestly don’t know, you hear good and bad about pretty much anything. But whatever I get I’d like it to be upgradable if needed, but repairable with available parts if needed.
EDcase Posted February 9 Posted February 9 ? Do plenty of reading before buying toys and gear to make the best choices.
MUKY Posted February 9 Author Posted February 9 (edited) I’m all too aware of how it goes from my air pistol collection. I’ve had to slim that down in preparation for this Edited February 9 by MUKY

Supporters Rogerborg Posted February 9 Supporters Posted February 9 Glad to hear you enjoyed it. There's always a big buzz after day 1, so try not to go too mad. 11 minutes ago, MUKY said: I’ve always liked the MP5, but wonder if they’ll be a little short on hitting power & range. Perfectly solid choice. Jing Gong, CYMA, both work. Put aside any real world assumptions, anything with 200mm+ of barrel length (or even a bit less) will be fine. M4s tend to be a bit more easily fUlLy UpGrAdAbLe, you might want to find a way to secure the hop arm a bit better, but there's nothing hooky about MP5s. Mags are cheap, battery space can be a little limited, but lipos are compact enough that you'll be able to feed it electrons. Have some welcome-to-the-hobby memes! MP5s are great. They're compact, especially with the collapsing/folding stocks, lightweight, ergonomic, etc. I have two Maruis, with an upgraded barrel and hop rubber they're pretty accurate to 40m, maybe a little more. They're well below the power limit but they're fine. Another advantage is with mid-caps you get a similar ammo capacity to others, but magazines are half the size. (At least comparing Marui 416 to MP5.) Rogerborg 1
Cannonfodder Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Welcome. I'd recommend renting till you get your site membership. Yes this is more expensive but it means you won't be stuck forced to buy a two tone. Do finmere rent anything else? If so this'll give you a chance to try other models which you may prefer. Having posted that though, a MP5 can certainly be used in woodland. I suspect that any performance issues were down to the ammo provided. Sites usually give out .2g bbs with rental guns while regular players will probably be using something heavier (at least .28g) Rogerborg 1

I mean, sure, I'd recommend it, but I didn't wait. I also never played with a two tone. What I'd definitely suggest is not dumping high-end money in. Tokyo Marui have that magic dust, but £110 for a JG SD6 is likely to be regret-free. 3 hours ago, Cannonfodder said: Yes this is more expensive And maybe not as much as it looks, as you'll be getting BBs for the rental money. Granted, probably not the BBs that you'd want... If the rental gun wasn't great, it may just have needed the hop adjusted - this takes a few seconds, and is something you'll need to learn to do on your own guns anyway. Marshals or other players will be happy to advise, and spot the BB trajectory for you. If it was giving you serious trouble, don't hesitate to let the marshals or site runner know - renting should get you a trouble-free experience.
Mik3F Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Or you could get a starter bundle that gets you everything you need to get playing with your own equipment and slowly upgrade / replace as needed Once you get a UKARA then the range of RIFS you can get really opens up Or check out the classified here for a suitable gun

MUKY Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 So the site uses .25 bio BB’s, make of that what you will. I think I’m now decided on a Double Eagle M908B any suggestions on battery make, shop I plan to use seems to use a lot of BigFoot accessories, but also some WE batteries, acceptable?
Mik3F Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Just make sure to get the battery with the correct connector on depending on what your gun uses Deans, Mini Tamiya etc Although you can change the connectors on them quite easily if you know how to solder
The_Lord_Poncho Posted February 11 Posted February 11 I'm a great fan of HobbyKing for batteries: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/batteries-chargers/batteries/lipo.html?srsltid=AfmBOorewg7W7txZBp1sQQReaQMzHMCWYjhJXlxPgrnOlK4NhYdpUR7t&___store=en_us#q=airsoft From what I can see, that M908 looks like it uses deans connectors. In terms of space, the M908 uses a 'crane' style stock, which does allow you to use 'nunchuck' style split battery packs. Personally though, I have a load of this type - they will fit your gun either in the stock or the buffer tube (bit that the stock slides onto), and are a versatile size that will fit just about any gun you choose to run in the future. I would get at least two, maybe three. They are only £6 each. Each one should last you at least 1000 shots/an hours intense woodland skirmish. https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-nano-tech-1300mah-2s-25-50c-lipo-airsoft-pack-t-connector.html Rogerborg 1
Supporters Rogerborg Posted February 11 Supporters Posted February 11 Yup, exactly what @The_Lord_Poncho said, and good call on the Double Eagle, M90X, we like those. Although... what happened to the love for MP5s? ButcherBill and Tackle 2
