gasman Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Ares Amoeba AM-003 M4 CCP now have 2 of these that have broken at the front of the gearbox has anyone else had the same fault?
Supporters Prisce Posted May 1, 2019 Supporters Posted May 1, 2019 Don’t have one, but why don’t you radius the gearbox and reduce the stress on it?
Supporters Rogerborg Posted May 1, 2019 Supporters Posted May 1, 2019 They're doubtless running meaty springs to keep the FPS up, and as noted, V2 gearboxes have an inherent weakness there, so I agree: radius them.
Supporters Samurai Posted May 2, 2019 Supporters Posted May 2, 2019 Not only that but you can put a sorbo pad in there, use heavier BBs, change the cylinder to a very short one, and don't use metal piston head and cylinder head. With these short barrels, the BB leaves it before the piston impacts so the impact is full force. With longer barrel the air behind the BB acts as a cushion. You need to reduce this impact.
gasman Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 Thanks Samurai I agree with your reasons why the gearboxes are breaking I was just trying to find out how many other guns had suffered the same breakages. The gearboxes do required reinforcing and with such short barrels a softer front rubber on the cylinder head would be a start.
