Hi from Newcastle

Hi, I’m new to Airsoft but very keen to give it a try. I’ve been looking at sites fairly close to home- I think Boldon is my closest on your map. I’ll probably be heading over there in the next month or so with my slightly less enthusiastic wife to give it a go.

I’m trying to hold off on getting carried away and buying loads of stuff until I’ve played a few matches- just in case it isn’t for me!   Just thought I’d say hello on here so I might have a few friendly faces when we go, we’re both quite shy until we get to know people

So the Boldon one doesn’t appear on that directory, it looks like Dirty Dog Airsoft in Durham or NSC in Black Heddon are my closest, any recommendations between the two?

Hi

Welcome to the forum.

It's great fun, so am sure you will enjoy it when you fiind a site.

Cheers

Welcome :).  The search tool (has a 3 character minimum length) may help you find some local information with a bit of reading through any results. For example, the term "newcastle":

Cheers for all the responses, I’ll have a look at the sites tonight, might have a ride out on my next day off see what they look like.

Is army surplus the best bet for women’s gear? Me and my partner are both tiny and mens’ clothes are massive on us. Cheers again!

Ride out eh? Another biker I pressume?

Womens army surplus is a contradiction in terms. Even though we have a lot of women serving now, their gear is anything but surplus to needs (meaning we get our mits on it.) You can get some great quality gear for some ridiculous prices and some not so great gear for equaly ridiculous prices. I believe there are some newbie guides on here that detail which brands are worth it or not. People rave ocer Crytac gear but I'll happily go with surplus combats in a solid colour over camo but then that is more suited to the mil-sim crowd and the like.

Guilty, come rain or shine I love my bike more than I like most people 😂

I’m not too fussed on going full mil-sim, just want something hard wearing that I can get scruffy

Same. Except I just had my 2 year anniversary of losing my bike. But that's another story...

When I started I chose a non mil-sim "look" then built around it on a budget but I soon fell prey to the molle Gods. I'm semi tacticool but still full retard.

TaiwanGun are great for prices, have a look for stuff you like the look of between you. Clothes can be sourced anywhere not just the specialist stores but I find TaiwanGun #1 for pouches and accessories.

Welcome to the forum mate.

It's great that you and the wife will be trying the shooting together, I've offered to take my wife to firearms club a few times but she never wants too, lol not necessarily a bad thing I guess lol..

I'm sure your both have an awesome time skirmishing though.

Happy shooting.

Lol yeah could be dangerous for sure in a few ways, but mainly I don't think I could afford it if both of us was shooting lol.

Welcome! Hard wearing kit you are looking for? If you are struggling for sizes in army surplus, hill waking kit is ace. I wear various versions of crag hopper trousers and no matter how much mud, crawling through trenches and jaggy nettles, it all washes off!

And the important question... what bike(s) do you have? :D

Hey, yeah hardwearing stuff, I already have quite. But if hiking gear so I’ll probably wear that, at least to begin with.

Haha, I have a Yamaha xj6n. She’s nice for now 😂 the dream is a bike for every occasion haha

Very nice! It was an older 600 Diversion I passed my test on. Really loved riding it, even though I could barley reach the ground with one foot while still on it

Nice haha, I haven’t had that problem yet. I love mine but it struggles a bit two up on long stretches (especially with camping gear). Hopefully get an XRX or something eventually. What are you riding now?

I do love a 600. Test rode the BMW S1000RR for a day back in 2015, it was fun but getting back on my gixxer felt so right.

We do have a bike thread somewhere with what everyone is riding, however the forum seems to be having a bit of a strop this morning!

I've got my little Honda MSX 125 and a BMW F700GS. Very different bikes to each other, but I love them both.
