I definitely find pistols an asset if used right. They are also much faster when it comes to popping out from behind cover or rushing people.

As far as guns go i'm trying to focus on having a good set that fulfill a different role. Using my LMG is completely different to my HK416, it's very enjoyable but also physically and financially draining as I can get through 2-3 bottles of BBs a day.

Simple answer is to come round the corner faster. I find that speed and aggression is always the best weapon no matter what scenario ( unless it a defensive one because I am sh*te at that).

I get the different guns for different roles just not the I have 12 different assault rifles and 10 of them are M4's type of thing.

As I said though each to there own if thats what makes you smile all good, its just not me.

The thing is pistols clear corners before anything longer would and they are faster to get on target due to their size and weight(I know some people disagree for some reason, but seriously try making a gun with your index and middle finger vs faking holding a rifle and see which is faster). It's mainly an advantage when your opponent doesn't expect it. The biggest pain in the arse is figuring out what to do with your rifle though. When I don't expect to move it's all about the sling, whereas if I am rushing someone i'd rather not have the weight plus it bouncing around to get in my way. I favour slings that easily detach for this reason :)

It's definitely about having fun though, you find what works for you and go with it. There's players that would never use what I do and vice versa.

I never do the pop shot thing. If I am going round a corner after someone or someones its usually the stuntman knee slide or a headlong dive. Not everyones choice but works for me.

Anyone thats played along side me usually picks up subtlety isnt my strong point.

More of a maximum carnage approach.

I think it boils down to the fact that I like playing airsoft but have never wanted to play soldiers.

But each to their own, I sometimes think that my philosophy sets me apart from your average airsofter.

I'd just like to say that neither have I. If anyone thinks I do because I bought gear similar to what I saw others wearing would make it so, they'd be incorrrect. Admittedly I could have put in more effort to find gear that was, shall we say, less soldiery, but when it came down to it, buying the emerson stuff (camo/helmet) was just a cheap shortcut, and the flyye gear because I really really dislike the way chest rigs look (except the Vietnam/WW2 stuff).

I won't be buying mp5 mag pouches. They fit well into pockets.

I'm too new to do that, but I want to. Atm, I have just my " first gun ", the M4, and the CQB gun. I plan to buy another M4, but beyond that I have no idea currently. I'd like to get a 416 and M27 - ideally just one lower receiver (two stocks).

Dont get huffy it was just my way of pointing out that I have no interest in the soldiery loadouts. If anyone else does its their choice and best of luck to them I respect their choice.

I see airsoft more as an aggressive game of tag than a military thing so I go for purely functional is all. Just pointing out different perceptions not digging at anybody.

I'm sorry; I didn't read it as a dig against me, I just didnt want to (or allow anyone else to) leave that impression when I put up the pictures.

When I got the plate carrier, my only thoughts were of avoiding injury, and of practicality - and sadly of fitting in, which I'm not ashamed of, at least not as a newbie.

I got some pictures of me at the game yesterday (posing ^^), I just look "airsofty" in my mind. Not soldiery :)

Having played soldiers for real, I am not interested in a realistic load-out and it does not make much difference what I wear for CQB indoors. Light and simple does work, as @ImTriggerHappy say it is all about speed, firepower, and surprise. I do wish that I was quicker and knew where I was going! That is why I have played games with pistol only (and now carry a knife) to be more agile. I do have a variety of kit so have options of what to wear/use but in the dark it is my cheap second-hand Viper vest from eBay which is actually the best with the 6 large Velcro pockets for mags, pistol suppressor, torch, spare batteries. @Esoterick, I have a 2-point sling for my HK416 with mash hooks so that I can quickly attach the front clip and spin the rifle over my shoulder so that it is tight into my back and out the way. I find just using the single clip with rifle hanging free in front is not always ideal but does allow easy transitions to other hand/shoulder. Still prefer wearing my Fast helmet more than a beanie hat, but as long as it gives some protection from knocks and head shots either is fine. Comfort and practicality is key for me; I just need to get to more games to keep learning and adapting.

That was what I initially planned to do but as it looked like the front sling points would need a loop to run through I never bothered. I also find just having my rifle hanging can tend to cause it to get a bit frisky with my mag pouches. Thinking of getting a single point sling that will mount to the back of my plate carrier as this should both avoid mag interference and the sling cutting into my neck at times. Only thing stopping me is i'd want to be able to detach it at least as fast as my MS3 sling lets me.

Out of interest do you run a little keyring loop or something like para cord on the front sling point or do you have a sling with a narrow clip that fits without them?

Originally I bought a two point sling with HK style clips but found that they were too small to attach to my QD ring on the butt stock and also scratched the front sling holes in the handguard. So I bought the Irene sling with the mash hooks which are larger and fit better, and also a swivel sling mount which I have fitted to the left side Ris. So no need for para cord. The Irene sling has quick detach clip so I can simply unclip it away-from my body if necessary to put the rifle on the ground, etc. My preference is a 2 point sling (years of using L85A2 rifle) as I like to have the rifle held in place on my chest or back if I am just standing around or want hands free.

Needs more high capacity Glockazines. Otherwise, 8/10.

Finally figured out what to do with the Flyye Duty belt I thought I had wasted money on, to think it took me 4 months to realise you wear it over your clothes and not threaded through trousers.

Bought 4 WE G17 magazines today, couldn't justify the 50rd ones, I reload too quick. Though had TWG got the OD Grip WE G18 in stock I would have got one less 26rd in lieu of a G18 with a 50rd.

Anyone know if there is any way to get devices to go on the bottom of glock magazines to allow them to be dropped to the floor (assuming they don't bounce onto the feed lips), or those https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%B6mb%C3%B6c from Equilibrium?
