CaptainDumbass
Looking for a non pyro grenade and I'm stuck between a Tornado grenade and a Thunder B, it will mostly be used for room clearing in cqb environments and sometimes urban and woodland too. Has anyone had experiences with these grenades? Is one better than the other? Cheers
AirsoftTed
I've had the thunder B and those were amazing as long as you made sure to tighten it up properly first, if you have testicles on the larger side, put it to your ear and check its hissing before you throw it, I got used to doing that and if you're quick enough you have enough time to. Way I look at it is, Thunder B's are cheaper, and since you're likely to lose them in woodland ( I lost my thunder B first time it was used in a game, worst bit was I didn't get the joy of throwing it, passed it up to the front of the section lol) I'd rather lose a 25 quid grenade than a £80 one! CaptainDumbass
Well I can either get a tornado grenade for about £50 Or 4 Thunder B cores, 26 shells, 4 top caps, 4 bottom caps, 13 co2 capsules and loads of spare pins, all for exactly the same price. Now I know tornados are cheaper in the long run, but I'm worried they're not powerful or loud enough and victims will either not notice it or chose to ignore it Thunder B's on the other hand are really freaking loud (not as loud as a big but hey ho) and can create small smoke screens if baby powder is placed in the shells, but they are known to be unreliable sometimes and will be more expensive in the long run
Supporters Ian_Gere Posted February 1, 2014 Supporters Share Posted February 1, 2014 I really want to get a Thunder B. Can you give us a linky to that deal, Cap'nD? I would not expect to be allowed to use it at CQB sites though. They put out 130dB IIRC and that, my friends, is more than really freaking loud, it's ear damagingly loud, even more so in a confined space. CaptainDumbass
That my friend is a secret a buddy is offering me them but if I dont decide to go for them I'll send him your way That shouldn't be a problem, most bfg's let out roughly the same decibels. I see them regularly at my local site aswell.
Teo
I personally own a thunder b and it is a great grenade. They look so much better and sound so much better than the tornados. I'd defo go with the thunder b over the tornado bud.
Supporters NickM Posted February 2, 2014 Supporters Share Posted February 2, 2014 My simple response is neither. If you have to get one of those two I guess the Thunder B but the one I've seen being used was really annoying. It was temperamental at best. Plus the wasteage is pretty high, the plastic body and a CO2 cylinder to cart around. (responsible airsofting, I hope you bin these bits rather than just leave them) And you have to carry replacements. The tornado grenades are also pretty pants, not much noise and the spray from them doesn't go very far or with very much power. If you are getting it for CQB mainly why don't you get a BFG? they are more expensive in the short term but a whole lot cheaper long term.
Supporters jcheeseright Posted February 2, 2014 Supporters Share Posted February 2, 2014 Yeah, steer clear of the tornado, they're just not very effective, especially in woodland.
