Would a 5.45 x 39 do more damage than a 5.56 x 45? 5.45 was designed to linger inside the enemy to upset them more, especially if it's a cyanide bullet. But 5.56 goes clean through but that means destroying things in the process.

AK47 is 7.62, AK74 is 5.45

Yeah, the 74 round is actually smaller than the NATO 5.56 in both cartridge length, as well as width.

Its always better to create massive injuries than to kill someone. It ties up more manpower for the enemy.
