  1. No offence intended, mate. There are many reasons for being a soldier and I respect most of them, even patriotism, despite my general attitude, so long as it's genuinely thought through rather than a muddled inherited mind set. But, as you say, this is neither the time nor place to go further
  2. That is a great looking object mate, but I also remember a great quote I read somewhere... "Patriotism is an extreme form of Stockholm Syndrome"
  3. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Here's me in my cold wet weather kit: MK6 Helmet & Cover OD Skrim MK IV NBC jacket Web-Tex DPM Vest (the rarer type with multi-tool and torch pouches) 95 Pattern JACKET DPM COMBAT LIGHTWEIGHT worn as a shirt Remploy TROUSERS MAN'S WATERPROOF Moisture Vapour Permeable 95 Pattern TROUSERS DPM COMBAT LIGHTWEIGHT Viper Security Belt Black US style DPM Water Bottle Pouch, plastic water bottle & aluminium cup. Custom Bum-Rig (Wilkinsons' gardeners kneeling pad, Web-Tex elastic, permanent markers camo) KH Mountain Elbow & Knee Pads German Para Boots Generic Hiking Socks M&S pants & thin socks (the foundation of outdoor gear - comfy shreddies!) Sadly I'm carrying an M4 in this shot, but in my defence, I was doing so to see how I liked the feel of them before I knew any better (and it is an ICS). Since then I've added Pyrohide gloves and a Web-Tex 3L Hydration pack.
  4. 2nd hand V3 gearbox with what looks like an ICS Bore Up Cylinder (I've yet to have it to bits) Guarder 50° Hop Bucking The trouble is that the Teflon Grease and SHS Shims I've ordered haven't arrived from HK yet and I want my AK in tip top working order for this Saturday and right now, the Fire Selector is a bit hit'n'miss because I've knackered the gearbox shell thread that holds it
  5. They way I look at it is that there must be a way to get it all in and working, because it was working, so it's a matter of figuring it out. In the factory they may have had a custom jig or tool to hold bits together so they could all be slid into the receiver at once with just a light spray of oil. You might find that some judiciously placed tape with trailing ends so they can be pulled out after might help. Then again, £22.50 is a fair price... It'd just bug the arse off me until I'd sussed it out!
  6. It could be worth smothering it in grease when you get another one. Well... if you do. £35 though... Nah, I'm sorry but that is taking the piddle! I assume that, at some point, it wasn't so stiff?
  7. 1 x Guarder Airsoft AEG Gearbox Teflon Grease Lubricant (AS994) £3.39 1 x PSEM Air Seal Nozzle for AK Series AEG Black (AS3778) £3.39 1 x SHS Metal Shim Set (Octagon/Circle/Copper Circle) (AS3709) £2.03
  8. You know what? I'm in the Twilight Zone. I'm sure I replied to this thread the other day, but no sign of it... I just came back because I forgot to add something I bought a while back... here goes then [cue music] - Ares L1A1 1/2 paid for. The other 1/2 must wait til the end of the month. 15m of 0.5mm solder for the price of 10 rolls of insulation tape: 2 red, 2 green, 5 black 2 x 25.4mm high scope mounts and the thing I forgot... A black RUC Riot Police helmet!
  9. Heard that. I just skirmished a whole day with my AK kicking out 293-298, down 50+ on what it was before I started messing with it to try to use a Variable Velocity Device, - it wasn't so much the range that I missed, because I got used to it quickly enough. What I really missed was having a pretty level trajectory at my new farther range. And before anyone says anything about hop up, it's a stock CYMA hop and I did my best with it Just installed a 2nd hand ICS Turbo 3000 motor into it, replaced the cheapo 110% spring I tried instead of the VVD, in an effort to get an fps guaranteed under 350 but still ok, with the original and got 10 small Tamya connectors from HK so my various batteries are now all sorted.
  10. Thanks lads. I've got a cheapo plastic one so I'll see what it's like on my AK before considering getting a better one.
  11. Question: how do you get on with your scope so far forward? I've got a similar tactical AK and I wonder if there's any point having a red dot scope so far forward, because I'm not sure I could see through it well enough there for it to be any better than firing over open sights.
  12. Now that I want! A question though - is it front heavy?
  13. A metal RIS front end to replace the plastic one on my tactical AK47 A magpul PTS RSA sling attachment Pair of generic black combat kecks Red Star beret pin (I already have a black BDU jacket and small crown beret - I'll give those who enjoy dressing yank a proper looking target to go up against... and, like all capitalist running dogs, quake with fear when confronted by the strength of the ordinary man... with his AK... the pigs!)(muahahaha!)
  14. Update: BBguns4Less have apparently refunded my postage now, although I'll have to wait for my bank statement to check I was away from home when they sent the replacement gun though, so I won't know if it's cool until tomorrow. Still, so far it appears that being firm but reasonable with them works in the end.
  15. Ooooh, I like the way you've tricked out that G36, Finius! Somehow I can't help thinking that it would look better as an "e" version though...
  16. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Wilf started life 51% transparent, but he got the plasti-kote magic too. I needed something to label my mags with so they were identifiable as mine, so I chose Monty Python as my inspiration - it seemed fitting!
  17. I wouldn't mate. I've just bought my 1st AEG - a CYMA tactical AK47 from Action Hobbies - cost me £125 and it's a 'kin beast! Just skirmished it Saturday and even the marshals were impressed with its range and accuracy. I was worried that it would be too hot, due to the advertised FPS, but it chrono'd @349-351 with 0.2g BBs - sweet!
  18. Yeah Ed, I'm not expecting much! I did test fire the Mini AK they sent me and it was surprisingly ok over short range - about 10m lol! The MP5 is coming to bits as soon as I get it and getting a morph into a Scorpion-stylee pistol and its innards refurbed with whatever comes to hand - tape & glue mainly I expect (although I've recently found a steel making firm that do some interesting deals so [cue twilight zone music] we shall see...)! But I reckon I'll have a full-auto side arm that does ok for when a mag runs out and the enemy are piling in... Update on BBguns4Less - maybe they read this forum b/c not long after I posted the above they emailed me to say the gun is on its way. No word on a refund for the postage yet, but I've informed them that my patience will run out at 13:30 09/05/2012, at which point steps will be taken etc. so watch this space I suppose It's not like harassing the arses off them will cost me anything, and I don't care that it's only over £3.38 - it's the principle of the thing, dagnabbit!
  19. I recently ordered an HFC Mini MP5 & 1000 decent 0.12g BBs from BBguns4Less (OK, I fully realise this gun is likely to turn out to be a POS, but I have a project in mind for it which doesn't warrant a hefty spend and £15 is the cheapest I've seen these things offered for.) The saga so far: The price of P&P is a bit high. Delivery was slow, even by standard parcels comparisons. The BBs are fine. The gun I received was a Mini AK in a Mini G36 box that looked like it had been rescued from behind somebody's fridge or something. I complained by email. It took them a few days to respond, but the response was what you would expect, ie sorry, send it back, we'll refund postage. I emailed back several times trying to talk to them about adding items to the purchase and also that I was not prepared to send them the receipt for posting back to them because a) the parcel would already be wrapped when I got it and b ) that is my proof of postage. Instead I offered to photograph the receipt and email that to them for their records. No response. I sent them the gun & receipt pic. No response... At this stage, I fear the worst. Suffice to say, the moment I get this situation sorted to my satisfaction will be the last I have anything to do with them, unless they do something nice by way of apology.
  20. OMGonads, isn't it just though. I've not been into airsoft long but I've maxed out my overdarft twice since discovering it and I've pretty much resigned myself to just paying the 'kin interest while ignoring the figures involved for the foreseeable future! I think that, now I have a good loadout and gun, I will try to reign myself in a bit. Then again there are all kinds of goodies that could make my gun even more sexy...
  21. Oh I've been down wiv da spork for years, mate. Not sure but probably since the dawn of sporkdom. I just can't find my old one and I've convinced my g/f to go camping (which is something of a minor miracle). I bought a folding pick/shovel too, which alarmed her immensely, but whilst a thrown spork could do as a back-up weapon in a skirmish, an entrenching tool is sure to get me banned, so I left it out Is there a new wave of sporkism happening then? Quavers eh? Back in the day I was down with the quaver, but these days I'm under Dr.'s orders to lay off the salt - I go with treacle toffee dabs - £5.10 on eBay, can't be beat!
  22. Since last time I posted: 5 x MOD issue cigarettes tins (I mean really... how cool is that? They're too small for king size but perfect for rollies!) Pair of British Army DPM Lance Corporal rank slides Guntuff 10x28 monocular CYMA tactical AK47 1600 mAh 8.4V stick battery spare 700rnd waffle mag HFC pump action shorty shottie 1000rnds crappy silver 0.12g BBs - which I got for the grenade shaped speed loader, which doesn't work (naturally), but sprayed black looks fine and will fit my webbing better than a 3000rnd bottle. Pair of AFV Crew fire retardant gloves Pair of unknown make kevlar and leather gloves (there's an anecdote in there which I may try to find somewhere on these boards to tell) Complete SA80 cleaning kit Web-tex: 3L DPM Hydration System, Boot Care Kit & pair of 6mm locking carabiners Toy periscope which I've DPM sniper taped up (we shall see whether this is genius or madness on Saturday) New back support (left my old one in a train station cafe - doh!) New Spork
  23. Mark 6 Kevlar Helmet: it could do with a refurb kit but for the price I paid, I'm not complaining. It completes my British Army Woodland loadout... Uploaded with ImageShack.us Oh, and I ordered some WDPM sniper tape to make my pads match. All I need now is an AEG to go with it, an L1A1 for preference, but I think that will be a long time coming.
