Well I know what I want/need but I no longer know what's on the market so all your contributions are welcome.

I did namsoft back in the days but on the MACV-SOG/LRRP side of things. I even had a functional PRC-25/77. My current setup isn't a 'period' one. It's meant to be functional and a tribute to the heyday of my old unit. I'm sort of new. I'm coming back to Airsoft after a 15 year hiatus. But I used to play on a monthly basis from 1999 to 2004. I did one big milsim weekender in 2008 and I'm back since Oct last year. Only 4 games so far.

Thank you all for your wealth of experience and knowledge. I have enough information to make the choice that will suit my gameplay. Just to answer, and narrow down the range of, a few concerns : - I'm all up for comfort, but 13 years in two armies, including stints in Helmand, the Balkans, Kenya, Norway etc. have taught me to support way worse when it comes to sweating under a heavy helmet. - The why ? Purely fashion. I'm not after protection, I don't need it. I will however get accessories on it, including headset, I plan on getting NVDs, probably a strobe and/or counterweight. *EDIT* P.S. Oh and I'm a medium size, I will however avoid one sized options.

Hello, being new-ish to the game, I'm looking for a FAST type helmet, preferably good quality (looking as close as possible to the real deal), no accessories other than rails and padding. Solid, especially the straps. If you have any pointers (with links and pics), I'd be most grateful. *EDIT* Punctuation

I like everything about this save one change : the stock. The SIG stock is so iconic, and beautifully designed.

It's the only upgrade I can think of for my 416D. I don't understand why VFC did away with it in that version... Any suggestions on that other than RA-Tech ?

This. Rotate your mags. One loaded in the RIF, one in a pocket close to your body (no insulating layer between). Upon changing your mag, get the warm one on the RIF, get one from your ammunition pouches to your body. And so on, so forth.

The camo looks a bit like the Finnish winter camo, which is increasingly available.

Wait... what ? I wasn't planning on buying guns for my mates. I mean, I'm a good mate, but not THAT good of a good mate. No, I briefly thought about them sending their RIFs to mine but it bears too much risk. Rentals it will be, they're fine with it.

I started, and stopped, playing airsoft in the early 2000s in France. I have only started playing again recently in the UK where I have been living for more than 12 years now. I am trying to get my old teammates over the Channel for a couple of games, they are legitimately concerned with the legal hassle with getting their RIFs through the border. Has anyone got any experience over these matters ? Are airports to be avoided ? Will they need proof of purchase/ownership of their RIFs ?

Oh and, trying to make sense of contradictory information. The NPAS. Is it factory fitted on all 416 ? I have a HK bought 416D Gen 3, and I don't think it has a NPAS in the bolt.

Fine initially, I used the standard mag first, no dramas. As the rain started pouring, and my mags on my chest rig and belt which were exposed, shots became inconsistent. With a significant drop in temperature in the afternoon, I had an increasing amount of dry fire incidents. I was running standard Green Gas however. I need to run a range day, fine tune the hop-up, gas and BB weight choice. I have the feeling I'm not making the best of a fine rifle.

It was the site's chrono, I did state I was running 0.30g, they tagged my rifle as OK, after doing the maths. Mag dumping the few 30 rds mags I have, never seemed like an option to me. Besides, I like to think of myself as not a dick. I don't play this game to hurt others. And to be fair, I don't even play for the frags. On my first 2 games of the day, I barely went through one mag.

Took the bad boy for its first outing. Chrono clocked at 320fps with 0.30g and I was enjoying decent, reliable, accurate firing first. As the weather degraded with heavy rains and the mags were in the cold, performance started degrading too. Inconsistent shots, a dry fire every so often, maybe just due to brand new "stiff" mags. The bolt didn't always lock back on an empty mag. However, you can hear the difference between a dry fire and an actual shot, prompting a mag change. The range was underwhelming. I might have to spend more time fiddling with the hop-up but at some point I considered feeding 0.20g to the beast. Everything else worked fine except for a runaway burst when I tried to mag dump my last rounds and it dried fired while discharging a full gas mag. The bolt literally froze. Finally, how the hell did *this* happen ? And how do I fix it ? Even my tiniest Allen key (0.7 mm) is too big for the hex recess at one end ?

IMI does a really good value for money holster.

Tru-Spec and Propper used to fade after barely 3-4 washes.

My (work in progress) rig. Future investment will target comms, ballistic protections and replica's optics and other accessories. Oh and I need a new sidearm.

So the KWA spring I bought isn't the right one. If anyone knows the spring size and tension of the KSC/KWA 1911 - the recoil spring that goes on the guide rod under the barrel, I'd happily take that information.

Maybe but my question isn't about whether these BBs should be on the market or not. I'm just asking whether they exist or not.

Bouncing off this topic, I haven't found, anywhere, red tracer BBs heavier than 0.25g. I was looking for biodegradable 0.30g red tracer BBs for a GBBR. Couldn't find any. Am I being blind and/or thick ?

I've had a bit of an incident during a night game, I was able to recover the spring guide and other parts but not the spring. It looks like most recoil springs are TM compatible but will they work on a KSC ? [EDIT] Potentially solved, bought a £2 spring in Hong Kong, with a £8 shipping fee... globalisation is Kafkaesque.

Thank you for these helpful answers. My take away from your input is that frags are not worth the hassle. Stun/Flashbang, with .209 BFGs being the best solution are probably my go to solution. What about smoke then ? Do you have any recommendations?

Being back into the game after 15 years, I'm a bit lost with the legal side of things, the etiquette and game rules, and I know very little about the options available. After doing some research, I found things I had never heard of, like stun pyros using 9mm blanks. Could someone more knowledgeable than me write a breakdown of the different options with examples of products ? And then people can comment with their experience and rate the different categories. Do gas powered frag (with BBs) actually work ? They were sort of underwhelming in my early airsoft days.
