I'm a 38inch chest and often plate carrier can come in too big sizes, but you jus need to know where too look and what type to get. Firstly don't forget plate carrier are designed to carry plates, not to act as a glorified chest rig, so get some plates in to bulk it out and they fit 100x times better! Secondly don't go for anything that more than 6 MOLLE columns across in the chest, this will be too big and will make aiming difficult. Thirdly, make a note of how the plater carrier is designed to be used. MBSS look very small be are designed to be worn over armour or at least with armour so have large side straps meaning you won't get a snug fit without armour. Some on the other hand like the WAS DCS are signed to have armour internally and have smaller side straps. Overall if I were you go for a WAS DCS, good quality, decent price and if it fits M_P's skinny ass it'll fit you

Get the drop on someone simply means you have them in your sights at close range 10m and under and they are unaware of your presence, if you didn't mean to come across them but they are still unaware of you while your sighted on them then you're just more aware then they are you've got the drop on them
-
I think it should be clear the sniper didn't say bang, he said "Player take a hit" which is basically a short way of saying "your in my sights do you want to be sporting and accept a hit without me actually having to hurt you" a perfectly reasonable thing to do and something I've done to people when I've had the drop on them with things like "do you want to take that" and them normally looking around and thinking he's gotten the better of me here yes I will and being sporting and civil about it and take the hit. However, there is no obligation to play that, if any of those people has made a move for a weapon they'd have gotten a couple of shot for their troubles, probably in not the most sympathetic places either. I also do it from a good couple of meters away so they cant do the thing black death says he does. Sitting Duck you seem to be implying the sniper should have taken a shot from within the MED with "try" and "safer". The sniper did the most reasonable thing he could have done in that situation while trying to take the kill.. it is incredibly hard to follow someone or track them without them realising you're there especially in woodland.. he would only have gotten a couple steps before the OP realised he was there And the analogy to the full auto and guy jumping out is more what the OP did, he stopped thought, hmm this isn't in the MED so I don't technically have to take this and then challenged the sniper. He was in his rights to do so but still not a sporting move Actually Black Death from rereading the post the sniper did have the drop on him the OP said he heard him say "player take your hit" behind him to turn around and see a sniper pointed at him... definitely sounds like the sniper had the better of him

My biggest bit of advice would be coordinate and communicate! Far too many times yo just have people rush of without any clear idea of whats going on or what other people are doing.. when theres a plan everything works so much better!
-
I think you're being a bit harsh on the guy, he did try and do the right thing and took the hit from the OP without question immediately. Yes he should have had a secondary but equally he could have shot and claimed his sniper was only 350fps and to a plate carrier/rig your not going to notice enough to complain. If anything his mistake was having faith in the fact good sportsman ship would be reciprocated, which is a stretch granted in a combat game So was OP right? 'legally' yes 'morally' no However, the former is the one that actually matters in reality
-
I equally don't like the bang rule leads to arguments and is often used in stupid situations You were under no obligation to take the hit and so under the rules you were well within your right to do what you did, but it wasn't the sporting option and this sport is entirely based on good sportsmanship
-
I don't think anyone can criticise the sniper really as he was good about taking the hit afterwards, many people would not have been Yes it was in the rules of the game that you could turn around and shoot him but I wouldn't say it was a sporting move. Places I say that if someone has the drop on you and asks you to surrender its not mandatory (you can turn and shoot) but A. prepare to get laced (assuming its not a sniper) and B. don't be a dick, he's worked for the kill and you only know he's there because he was kind enough not to shoot you and all you have to do is go and respawn
-
As far as the rules go you were in your right but to be honest, depending on how close you were its a bit of a dick move. If you were 20m or so away then yes there's no guarantee he would have hit you but under 5 or even under 10 with you completely unaware and no cover he had you lined up then you should have done the sportsman's thing and taken the hit as in real life you'd have been dead without the MED rule and he was kind enough to not break that rule. I don't agree with the bang rule but I agree with sportsmanship and offering someone the chance to surrender is a sporting thing to do and should be taken as such. Again its situation dependent, from the sounds of it he was close and had you not in cover and completely unaware so you should have taken it

by clean i meant un used.. but actually for a decent, realistic loadout its best to take pics at the end of a day so there's some grime on it
-
You could get away with a CAR-15 but wouldn't exactly be correct
-
That doesn't really help much at all... SF loadouts are far more specific than people think/want to beleive. Your best bet is a Golf War 1 scud hunter kit. For that you'll want M16 with M203, sprayed with loose tan and green stripes (well weathered) Pre S95 Desert DPM shirt and trousers Mix of OG PLCE and ALICE webbing, again pained tan Old GW1 desert boots Old issue shemagh And thats about it
-
Haha fair enough.. thats what I hated about my A-TACS was when they faded the pattern didn't look good so I had to wash and dry them carefully to reduce the fading, but with my Nutria browns the more faded the better!

The 'What have you just bought' Thread

Just ordered some SADF Patt 70 R4 mag pouches and my 2 canteen pouches and Grootsak are on their way! -
On the subject of loading kit up.. I do tend to go on the heavier side partly because I view it as more of a work out
-
I agree, so much airsoft kit looks far too clean!
-
Haha we get into lots of issues in airsoft when it comes down to "needs" I see what you mean, under very light use Chinese molle vests would probably hold up.. but so would a Chicom chest rig or an old ops vest which are usually cheaper I hope you SA vest was a repro if you were cutting it up I have never found an issue with the side pouches on mine, granted I put the pistol in the bit its mean to go in on the vest and don't use a drop leg or belt holster with it
-
Most sites allow them but obviously you cant go slapping people with them
-
It does depend. I would say Bulle is the minimum I'd ever recommend. Ive had viper vest literally tear themselves apart and a MFH rig that kept on pulling MOLLE straps off itself and frayed like a b****
-
But the highly cheap Chinese vests aren't exactly future proof. A decent WAS or even Bulle rig would be good but it seems like people go for MOLLE at all cost without thinking it through The M83 battle jacket is a brilliant rig, having owned both a repro one and a real one the repros have nothing on the originals, which actually aren't that expensive This is always what I thought with MOLLE but realised in reality I changed it around only when I bought new bits and tended to buy pouches "just in case" I needed it. This is a good point, there is definitely some "its what the pros are using must be the best" going on Hi-five for the old skool!! They do look like absolutely brilliant rigs! I've always wanted one but they're so expensive and I have African stuff to import I would say the same things about the M83 battle jacket, carries exactly what you need and in the right places. Can also take any mag from a R1 (SLR) to a AK47 to STANAGS and R4 (Galil) mags! Now thats versatility
-
As many of you will know I am a bit of a gear whore and in my time airsofting I have done many a loadout from UKSF to African mercenaries in the 80's But one thing I've noticed is that every seems obsessed with MOLLE, I rarely see new players ask about non molle rigs and rarely see player suggest non molle rigs Now I fully understand the advantages of a MOLLE rig, high adaptability etc, and I myself have owned many MOLLE rigs and used correctly they are very good.. but so are many other non MOLLE rigs.. I think so far my favourite rigs are non-MOLLE and while the odd pouch might not be perfect you make do and get on and to be honest I have noticed basically no different in my ability to play effectively between my MBSS and my M83 chest rig for example This is mainly aimed at the newer players who are not going to going out and buying lots of configurations for their MOLLE rig but who decide to get them anyway, and often get very sub-par Chinese rigs which then fall apart So basically why is everyone so obsessed with MOLLE? Is it a lack of knowledge about alternatives or fashion (the multicam bug )or both? (again this isn't aimed at experienced players but more why is MOLLE always recommended and sought by newer players)
-
You can get an issue vest on eBay for next to nothing and it won't fall apart after a couple of games
-
I use a rubber M9 as a bayonet on then end of my R4 and before that I had a cold steel knife taped to it. I've gotten a kill with it and its just a simple prod in the plate carrier, probably safer than the end of the barrel. Never had any complaints about it and the M9 bends a lot. As long as your sensible and controlled then anything is fine to be used. As for the "tap on the shoulder will do" point, most people don't airsoft because it "will do" many people strive for realism and also just trying to do things that are cool!(eg PT's DayZ loadout)
-
Deej I pretty much agree with everything you said, except, I must ask, whats wrong with trying hard??
-
Whether or not it would stand up in court would only be seen if it was taken to court, which to be fair is highly unlikely But its better safe than sorry and I do not want anyone bring disrepute to this sport that too many people want to get rid of so tape at games is fine but do not spray your gun until you can convincingly prove a valid defence, site membership or UKARA are the best options, some might look beyond but thats their choice
-
Technically you can do anything and not get prosecuted. Its a defence that will stand up in court, saying i played one game or are planning on playing a game would not If it was like you say the UKARA or site memberships wouldn't be required to buy form stores
