  1. My three repaints courtesy of Halfords Matt OD (good stuff, nice colour & proving fairly durable). UAR w/4x sight, LT M933, springer Galaxy 1911 that is ridiculously good fun. A mate gifted me a DE M56B tri-shot a couple of days ago that I look forward to integrating into my loadout. Its 2-tone blue but I'm not fussed at that.
  2. There was an incident up here a few months back, some twat waving about an AK RIF at lorry drivers in the ferry queue at Ullapool. Arsehole got jailed.
  3. I dont wear any patches as they tend to give snipers something to aim at (same reason I stopped wearing a helmet). My all-OD setup seems to be working well at my local evergreen woodland site, to the extent I've also repainted my guns OD. If I'm honest I'm liking the anonymous look. Fits in with my sci-fi loadout. Nah, much more fun being the phaser-fodder rear-echelon Ensign that always gets sneakily picked off by the aliens at the start of the episode... ...or maybe I'm confusing that with my airsoft personality.
  4. Add in a strong anti-gun sentiment in the UK, Eco-Nazis wanting to ban everything (plastic BBs? Its a wonder the feckers from XR haven't started chaining themselves up at airsoft sites yet), a general suspicion of anything military, clothing etc and sites going out of business its all against the sport. That said, seeing more and more newbies like myself taking it up this past year which is very encouraging.
  5. To be brutally honest... the amount you'd splurge on "upgrades" that a) give little increase in performance (already a very subjective concept) and b) end up fcuking up an otherwise perfectly functioning gun are just not worth it. Get out to plenty skirms and focus on improving your play, technique or tactics - that will result in much better performance in your game. Its all about the player, not the weapon.
  6. Black boiler suit/flight suit, gas mask and black tac vest should see you right for not much cost. As long as you sling an MP5 with it you're 99% there.
  7. Ah I see. That's a shame. I always fancied one being a massive Aliens/USCM fan but didn't have the money and found the Tommy ergonomics and mags a bit impractical for skirms. Went for a UAR instead for the sci fi look and the ergonomics. Fancied an XR5 but hard to get hold of and ended up liking the bullpup format for the compactness.
  8. Eezer Goode's latest loadout iteration. Laid out as couldn't be arsed getting all tarted up for a posey shot. Influences:- Halo, Doom, Aliens, Starship Troopers, Unreal Tournament. Flight Suit, Tac Vest, Knee/Elbow/Shoulder pads, Shemagh, Summer motorcycle gloves, Beret (homage to Malcolm from UT2004). Motorcycle boots and Bolle Pilot's for eye pro (not pictured). UAR with 4x sight and springer 1911 for SHTF. Also run an LT933 and a DE M56B kept handy for close encounters.
  9. @paradoxum I'm liking the "Broadsword". Very tacticool and modern. Do you still have the Pulse Rifle?
  10. The negatives of AEPs are well-noted above. I actually prefer springers (short shotty or pistol) as a last-ditch SHTF tool (can hear the howls of disbelief and mocking...) but that's just me. I'm weird in that I actually enjoy springers. One thing I'll say about being obsessed with RPS is that you end up hosing ammo everywhere and using more up faster, which can be a disadvantage. Best being more accurate and conserving ammo (and battery power/gas), its more fun, more satisfying and cheaper too. If you're looking for something with a decent ROF/velocity maybe look at one of the AR pistols, basically cut-down M4s that aren't much bigger than a pistol.
  11. I'm trying this at my next skirm. Don't usually run with a sling however last time round with the bullpup I started to wish I had one. Picked up a convertible 1/2 point sling on Amazon afterwards and trying it whilst tarting about the house dressed up... errr sorry I mean trying out my updated loadout it felt good. if it doesn't work I'll wear it conventionally or just ditch it. No hassles.
  12. Well said, and a good summary! Sometimes wonder if half the "Walt Hunters" are actually Walts themselves. There's reference to us "Airsoft Mongs" however I've bumped into quite a few current and Ex-mil in the sport, all of whom enjoy it and have no issue with anyones setups. Personally, I have no desire to dress up in MTP or MARPAT however if someone wants to then fair play to them. Some of the recreations of real-life loadouts I've seen at my local site are impressive and we have to acknowledge that a substantial part of Airsoft consists of cosplay, whether that be lasgun-wielding superhuman hulks from thousands of years into the future, Xenomorph-slaying Colonial Marines, Master Chief/Doomguy impersonators or WW2 reenactors- all of which are good fun and show off ones individuality.
  13. Has been this way for a while. Blame Covid (or rather, the way its been handled). Turns out shutting the world down for inordinate open ended periods has repercussions. Next shyttshow; lack of HGV drivers. Supply problems for food and now fuel. Of course there's plenty to go round, but the Daily Mail are now whooping up the population into panic buying as they're convinced we are repeating the 1970s again. Worrying about lack of cheap airsoft guns in stock may be the least of our worries.
  14. Personally, I'd say wear what you like, it's your call. ...However, speaking as someone involved in the cadet forces, if anyone involved in the cadet forces/military sees you wearing official kit without authorisation outside of the corps (rank slides, jackets, uniforms, kit etc) you could get in bother. Also you might get accusations of Waltism. ...that said, I use a flight suit (with no patches etc) as part of my loadout so I can't really talk... Eezer G
  15. After looking at a few options, decided to order a UAR, having fancied one for a while. Was considering a JG SG550 but went for the bullpup as its compact and something a bit different. Next fortnight will pass rather slowly as I await its arrival... Just as well as my M933 is playing up, inconsistent FPS (all over the place but consistently low) so I've contacted the vendor under warranty to see if it can get sorted. Had to miss some skirmishes recently due to a trapped nerve and now this. Buggeration.
  16. All, Thanks for the replies. For clarity, I'm not too fussed about having a posh gnu or sniping - just would like something a little different to run alongside the M4 if/when it takes my fancy. Any extra poke would be handy for the couple of larger areas at my woodland site, but not a must by any means. I'll leave the arguments about physics to others... I just enjoy airsofting and getting on with folks. Thanks for the recommendations. Eezer
  17. Hi folks. I Fancy getting a longer rifle for more range and something a bit different to the plethora of M4s out there within my budget of £150... have had my eye on the JG 550 for a while as I like the styling (vaguely futuristic but still traditional, without the plethora of rails, fancy guards etc that I'm not fussed about) and the price is right. Has anyone had any experience with them, are they any good? Cheers Eezer (formerly 125cc)
  18. I own both mid-and-hi-caps. I've found that what I use depends on the scenario played. Winding hi-caps can be a pain in the arse when you stop feeding mid-burst, however having several hundred rounds available can be advantageous as you don't have to reload - something, as a rookie, I still struggle with. My first game I ended up dumping the gun when clumsily trying to reload and switching to the pistol sorted it out during a lull in the action... Mid-caps are handy as you don't need to wind and still have decent capacity. Personally I'm not fussed about rattle, shooting and shouting is way more constant and louder than that so no worries for me, although if stealth is your thing that could be an issue, in which case mid-caps help.
  19. So would I! At least its an original loadout! Needs a pink pistol with it though 😁
  20. Haha 😆 they're my kneeboards for taking notes etc in the cockpit with a chinagraph. They'll be covered up and put to use (site map on one, the other will have an OD insert and used for notes as normal)
  21. 125cc's V2.0 loadout. Flying suit for a slightly more sci-fi look. Trying it out at skirmish on the 11th. Which one I decide to wear will be weather dependant 😎 P.S. excuse the yellow laces. They're the boots I use on the motorbike...
  22. Liking the MP5s and the G36 with the suppressor. 👍
  23. I don't deny it... the old adage of "you get what you pay for" is true in all walks of life, I have never tried a TM but am pretty sure they will be far, far superior to any 100-quid CYMA or LT that green rookies like meself wield! Anyway, sorry for derailing the thread everyone... back on topic and all that.
