^What he said. Can't go wrong with an electric as a first time buyer. One thing I'd suggest though, is looking into the difference between LiPO batteries and NiMH. I switched from NiMH to a 7.4v LiPO a few months ago, and I'll never look back! (here's a link) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Airsoft-7-4V-1300mAh-25C-LiPo-stick-battery-with-case-LP301-Vapextech-Brand-/331623057825?hash=item4d364649a1:g:TXIAAOSwv0tU~r-K

I own several airsoft guns, and two .177 pstols (one is a dian wesson revolver, one is a government issue 1911), both look very real and both fire a C02 propelled metal BB (or pellet in the revolver's case). If someone broke into my house, I would (illegally, as mentioned above) point one of those .177 pistols at them, not the airsoft rifles/pistols. If they "called my bluff" (as also mentioned above), I'd shoot. Several 177 metal bbs coming at 350-400FPS will put a man down I reckon, with a small likelyhood of extreme/fatal injury. That's not my advice as that would be highly illegal, but it's what I'd do. As the guy at the top said: a man's home is his castle, if you choose to defend it as I would, then you'd have to deal with whatever consequences the law would throw at you. If this was America, you'd just kneecap 'em

Although I don't have one myself, I'm very interested in getting myself a bullpup rifle of some sort. If the hideous looks don't throw you off, Steyr's, P90's, L85's etc. all have a really long barrel in a compact size. If, like me - you already have a decent M4 and you want something a little different, do some investigation and see what you like!

Unless I'm mistaken you're probably looking for a 14mm suppressor (this is standard size). Here's a link to one that is by G&G so you'd imagine it fits... http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?products_id=8094

Haven't read through all the comments above properly but worst case scenario, can't you just fit some safety specs under the mask for good measure?

Just an update - I Chrono'd before a day's skirmishing - a disappointing 440FPS, even after the upgrade kit, including spring! Anyway, I used it in a few games - still swerving to the left (as a result of the hop-up arm in the inner barrel), accuracy isn't good enough as far as I',m concerned, I'm going to get a new hop up and inner barrel and we'll see how that goes!

Hi fellas/lady-fellas. I've recently started upgrading my Well MB-06 (which as I understand is almost exactly the same as the ASG "Urban Sniper"). This thread is specifically to try to get some opinions on parts & other upgrades before I attempt to do them, and to share my opinions on the upgrades after I've done them. After I have installed new stuff, and assuming that this post doesn't p!ss off the forum admins, I'll keep this thread updated with my progress for the few of you that will be interested. Firstly, I've found some excellent reviews, and posts similar to this one at the following links, should you also wish to upgrade yours. This stuff that has helped me already and may save others a lot of googling! Places to buy a Well MB06, or ASG Urban sniper: http://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft/asg-urban-sniper.htm#.VkycYHbhB9A http://www.airsplat.com/well-mb06-airsoft-spring-sniper-rifle.html -Patrol base review/solution to shots flying left/right dramatically: http://www.patrolbase.co.uk/blog/urban-sniper-skirmish-review/ -Dismantling/field stripping guide (how to take the gun apart), with some links to additional free/cheap mods you can make. http://airsofttech.dk/Guides.cshtml?Page=UrbanSniper_Page1 -YouTube video showing how to take out the "air break", increasing FPS dramatically. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFNOJeYbAIs Now, when it comes to upgrading, there are a lot of options available. As far as internals are concerned, most L96, Echo1 ASR, Well MB-<XY> parts will fit and do the job. I'll try to condense the parts that should be considered for upgrading here: Spring Spring guide Piston Cylinder head Bolt (the part you pull towards yourself to load the rifle) Inner barrel (this is the same length as an AK inner barrel, more on this shortly). Hop-up Lubricant (not an upgrade, but you should get some - more on this shortly too). Trigger/trigger shears External stuff you should also consider: 10. Extra magazines (for obvious reasons) 11. Scope (for obvious reasons, more on this below) 12. Bipod - great for shooting on the field, even better for zeroing your scope in! 13. A new stock if you're not a fan of the "stock" stock(any that fits a standard M4 buffer tube). So, you can get number 1-3 in one nice tidy bundle (the only one I've found available in the UK is from eBay) here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141715048227?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT (If the listing has expired by the time you read this, search for "PPS CNC Aluminum Power Up Kit For L96 Type/MB01/MB05 Series Airsoft Sniper" IF YOU DO THIS, PLEASE READ NUMBER 9 BELOW!!! *NOTE* When installing any new internals, or if you strip the gun for any reason, CLEAN THE RUBBISH GREASE OFF EVERYTHING!!!!! The manufacturers put way too much on, and its poor quality. Your rifle will thank you! *NOTE* Installing this is reasonably straight forward. If you follow the air-break mod video from the link above, when you've pulled the bolt out, you simply have to get some long-nosed pliers and insert each "nose" into the little hole either side of the cylinder head (the gold bit that you take the air break out of), and twist it free, replacing the parts inside with parts from the upgrade kit. While doing this, as noted above you should remove excess grease, and if you want to put some good lubricant in here are my recommendations (Number 8): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151867233227?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151571922104?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Or just search for "Abbey gun grease". Should you want an alternative, just be sure that it's rubber-friendly. There are kits that also include number 4, the cylinder head - although this isn't too necessary, the stock one isn't all that bad. From here, I have no first-hand experience in any of the parts I'll be talking about, I'm open to any opinions/comments that you have on them, please let me know how you've got on with them in the past! So: Number 5: The bolt. The bolt on the Well MB-06 is pretty nice out of the box. There are replacements available but I'm not too bothered about spending money on a new one. All You need to know is that inside the handle of the bolt is an Allen-key fitting, which needs tightening now and again to prevent it snapping off. Number 6: The Inner Barrel: As far as the inner barrel is concerned, there are facts and opinions, I'll only mention the facts and I'd like to know your opinions: -The inner barrel is 455mm long (the same size as most AKs) -The inner barrel is a pain to get out -The stock inner barrel isn't all that great. From here, it'sup for debate which manufacturer's inner barrel would suit best, and whether to get a 6.01mm tightbore or 6.03mm tightbore barrel. An example, and one I'm considering (as I'm trying to keep things reasonably cheap) is Madbull's, here: http://uk.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/Accessories_Precision_Barrels_AEG_AEP_Madbull_Ultimate_6_01mm_Tight_Bore_Barrel_7075_Aluminium_455mm.htm Number 7: The Hop-Up unit: Now, i don't think that the stock hop-up is actually that bad in the MB-06, but if you check the patrol base review linked above, you can see that a common occurrence is that the hop-up arm is misaligned in the inner barrel, causing a left or right swerve on the bb when shot. This is annoying, and I'm still trying to fix mine properly before I resort to buying a new one. If I do buy a new one, I hear that PDI make them to a very good quality, although I can't find any UK-based retailers. Number 9: Trigger/Shears: Please be aware that if you use the stronger spring from the upgrade kit suggested for numbers 1-3, you will be putting more pressure on your trigger and shears, which could result in them breaking. You can either replace the shears with stronger metal once (which is a right mess about once you open up the trigger box!), or you can buy a complete replacement trigger box, like this one: http://www.airsoftsniperparts.com/apps/webstore/products/show/3935427 You can get replacement trigger boxes that, like the one above, just slot in easily - but they are only as good as the stock ones, so be aware that if your first trigger has broken (as I expect mine to after some use with this new spring in it), it's likely that the replacement below will break too, I think it would be better to get a reinforced one like the link above. Anyway, here's a cheap replacement: http://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft-internal-electronics/asg-urban-sniper-complete-trigger-box-black.htm#.Vkx1iXbhB9A Onto external stuff... Number 10: Spare magazines: Pretty self explanatory really, more mags = more ammo. These mags only hold something like 25 rounds, and they're fairly difficult to load on the field, even with a speed loader. I found a set of 3 on eBay here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221785451459?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT If the listing has expired, you can just search for "Well MB06 spare magazine". Number 11: Scope: Obviously, you're using a sniper rifle, you want some kind of optic! If you've upgraded your rifle I'm assuming it's firing above 330 FPS, which for most sites in the UK, means you have a minimum engagement distance.... So without a scope... good luck with that! Anyway, here's a scope I bought recently and I can't begin to explain how impressed I am with it! https://www.wish.com/geek/m/c/5526656d3462af0c106ac3c4 Number 12: Bipod: Useful for obvious reasons, really comes into it's own when you want to zero-in your scope too! Number 13: Stock: The stock is similar to most M4 crane stocks on the market these days, if you're not a fan, like me - you could get something with a nice cheek rest, like this: http://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft-external-parts-237839/asg-crane-stock-m4-m15-black.htm#.Vkyby3bhB9A Anyway, that's my two pence. If this thread stays open, I'll update it as I continue to upgrade and skirmish with my Well MB06. Your input is valued, and more than welcome. Thanks!

Where to buy the Echo 1 ASR Upgrade kit?
callumbagshaw replied to callumbagshaw's topic in General Help
Wouldn't that leave room for less accuracy though? I've looked at PDI - I totalled some PDI parts (barell, hop up, bucking) and it came to the same price as the gun itself! Not to mention new cylinder, spring, spring guide, trigger (box maybe, but shears for sure) ! -
Where to buy the Echo 1 ASR Upgrade kit?
callumbagshaw replied to callumbagshaw's topic in General Help
I did have my eye on a new hop-up unit & bucking, although I hadn't decided on any in particular yet. As for the barrel, I hear MadBull tight-bore 6.01mm (455mm in length) inner barrel is a good shout? -
That's mental - unless you've somehow managed to tinker with the battery so that it powers your sight too... which I'm guessing you haven't, and if you have, YOU'RE MENTAL! Haha. Sounds like this "retailer" needs putting on the "avoid buying from" list.

Hi all, I've done some research on upgrading my Well MB06 sniper. The first thing most people seem to put in it is the Echo 1 ASR upgrade kit... Here is one of many many links I've found http://www.speedytoys.us/index.php?l...t_detail&p=295 The problem I have is that nowhere in the UK seems to sell the kit! The closest I can find is this Chinese seller on Ebay, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PPS-CNC-Al...gAAOSwT6pVn4P1 but I'm not sure that the parts will be good quality anyway as they're not the same as the Echo 1 parts so many people recommend. Does anyone know a seller in the UK of the Echo1 parts? Thanks!

Yeah, paying in excess of $1000 would be pretty stupid to put on a £200 BB gun haha! Thanks, I'll steer clear!

You might well have just saved me £35

Hi all, I have a very basic low-end red dot sight that I love, the only problem is that when conditions are damp, it tends to fog up a bit. I'm going to buy an eotech replica holographic sight, but I've seen these "flip on/off" magnifiers that you can also buy. This is to put onto a G&G M4 firing at roughly 320FPS with reasonable accuracy (it's no DMR...). Here's the exact one I'm looking at: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sight-Holographic-Tactical-552-Type-Red-Green-Reflex-Dot-Sight-3X-Magnifier-/201394660269?hash=item2ee40ea3ad Do you think that the magnifier is worthwhile, or would it just be a gimmick? P.S. I know that a lot of people say that red dots/holographics aren't worthwhile in airsoft anyway, but my M4 came without rear sights anyway, and since I prefer an optic to rear sights, let's not bother with that discussion here... Thanks, Cal.

Given that these are built to withstand the impact of a head on collision without shattering, my presumption (and don't take this as gospel truth) is that they're easily strong enough to withstand a BB @ 550 FPS. With that said, you'll get bloody warm running around in that all day!

Some advice on masks for people that wear glasses.
callumbagshaw replied to crazy_lizard's topic in General Discussion
Amen to that brother, Compared to a lot of hobbies, even top-end airsoft gear is cheap. When you consider that you can spend > £1000 on a fishing rod/pole just to sit by a pond all day, I'd say the cost -> fun ratio is pretty decent in airsoft Also, airsoft seems to be one of those things where if you buy cheap, you buy twice - you're far better off in the long run getting the right gear as soon as you can and it will last you. -
When should I charge my batteries before a skirmish?
callumbagshaw replied to callumbagshaw's topic in General Help
I'm not sure - just bog standard chargers with the connection that is one square, one circle and a little clip on top (forgive me, not sure what they're called...). Just the chargers that came with my batteries/guns, so i guess nothing special. Does using a lipo make any difference to the gun? e.g. performance, or would it require that I have to mod the battery connection in the handguard? Cheers. -

Compared to a mesh, or a bog standard mask from ebay or whatever, they are pretty expensive for a beginner. Worth ebery penny though, and of course there are far more expensive masks on the market, but I didn't want to be 'that guy' who recommends a £300 mask -

That's right. I just found this - it's new to me, but looks great! I might get one myself http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Armoured-Steel-AIRSOFT-MESH-MASK-Head-Protection-Camo-Camouflage-Face-Mask-/271988961407?var=&hash=item3f53ce307f -

As above - best not to buy cheap - unless you're going with mesh. If you want goggles/mask over mesh though - "Save Phace" seem to be the best, I've heard that they're among the best for players who need glasses too, as the shape allows a little more room between the eyes and the mask. A little pricy though! www.savephace.com/Tactical
