  1. Unless you are dead set on an AEG, the WE Apache GBB is a nice bit of kit. All the appropriate bits are metal and three round burst is fun. Kicks a bit though and mags are heavy and limited rounds.
  2. Where do you get these from? Asking for a friend...
  3. Looking for something simple, and ended up building a "Toon" B24.
  4. I have had more interesting usernames elsewhere. I was "Paddy" on Techbrigade, ASCUK, UKASC and Arnies, on account of having Irish Roots. As I got old and boring I just started using an abbreviated "real" name. I remember a load of guys signed up to ASCUK as a team and were "Wolf Squad Gunnner" "Wolf Squad Sniper" "Wolf Squad Leader" and then pmd the admins for name changes when the team broke up. I do remember the time HaVoC MaN got himself banned, and we weren't using validation on new users, so he immediately rejoined as Beakersuxcock...
  5. Well, I saw this and it was hilarious. Spoiler allert*** GOLD PLATED DESERT EAGLES!!!
  6. I had an old pair of trackers that I managed to scratch the lens. Used them as a test pair, quite happily tool a .177 air rifle pellet without marking or deforming. Not massively scientific, but I was curious, having seen some alegedly "mil-spec" goggles crack from a 500fps sniper test.
  7. At the risk of putting this thread back on topic, there was nothing in the King's Speech suggesting further banning replica guns or removing the airsoft exemption...
  8. The Met released their gun crime figures this morning and interestingly stated that 46% of the 386 firearms recovered last year were converted blank firers. Note that they have specifically said Blank Firers so hopefully we have moved away from the bollocks about "replica guns converted with tools bought from B&Q" that was being spouted back in 2006. I would be curious as to wether these were UK Spec or illegally imported European Spec front venting - I suspect the latter as that was the finding of Merseyside police a few years ago. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/articles/cxee411r07xo.amp
  9. Possibly you need to degrease the plastic first to remove any mould release agent. Also roughening any shiny surface might help key the paint to the surface. Solvent based paints will also adhere to the surface better than acrylics. You could also consider coloured nail varnish instead of paint.
  10. Having taken the time to read the Labour Manifesto, their specific focus is on reducing Knife Crime. No mention of Gun Crime or Replicas. Unlike 2005 when they specificaly mentioned Replicas, though only in regards to raising the purchase age. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4335097.stm
  11. Which one would you join? The Popular Front for Airsoft, the People's Airsoft Front, the People's Front for Airsoft? Or perhaps the Airsoft Peoples Popular Front?
  12. To echo comments above, we worry about Labour, but the Conservatives (who opposed the VCRA) had 14 years to repeal the act but didn't. The VCRA was a hobby horse of Hazel Blears, and was derived from the unpublished Home Office Consultation on Firearms (allegedly never published because the public gave the wrong answers, and unavailable through FOI). The manifesto pledge was: "Most respondents to the consultation wanted some controls on Replica Weapons, particularly sales to under 18s". This as we know became a total ban, partially overturned by the Lords. It was also based on a blip in the figures caused by instructions from the Home Office to Police forces to record unidentified weapons (where no weapon was fired or recovered so type uncertain) as "replicas" rather than "unknown". There are figures for the paltry number of convictions under the act since 2007 and no evidence that Replicas are a problem. As others have said, the next Government has much bigger things to worry about and the best thing the Airsoft Community can do is not draw attention to itself. One outlying poll predicted that. Other polls with larger numbers of respondent are still showing a 20-22 point lead.
  13. If you want reasonably simple, try Flames of war. The older stuff is white metal but the more recent stuff and the "Team Yankee" WW3 stuff is all plastic.
