  1. Well I was having the same sort of thoughts and I’m ‘only’ 49 on Saturday, I’ve now found the type of events I want to participate in, which are more the Battlesim / Weekend events and hooked up with a great bunch of guys all roughly the same age, I find the limiting factor is my fitness and flexibility, as I’m very stiff the day after a event..

Pop's Yoshimura did this for a living and was a legend.  He would take new Suzuki engines to bits and reassemble them 100% correctly as the designers blueprint.  Without swapping a single component he would get IIRC, about 8% extra power.   They were also more reliable for endurance racing.

In the '70s thru to the 90's, if you bought a Ural or Enfield, you trailered it home and swapped the pistons, valves, carbs, big ends and gearbox bushes!

Those days are gone thank fuck.

Don’t forget Tony Scott who, also, did this with Honda v4 engines for,the TT

I cut my teeth at Ambush Chobham (run by Charlie James) and I look back on those days so fondly.

I dunno if it was the mud (omg it was muddy. In fact, I’m still finding mud years later🤣) the amazing marshals, or the unrelenting pace of every single game but, it just worked so well. It was the first place I ever played and where I learned everything I ever knew about Airsoft. The away days to Longmoor were always an amazing treat, especially the overnight games. I really miss those days.

After a few years off, it’s time to find a new site but, in my opinion, Ambush set the bar pretty high.

Very first Airsoft game I went to was at Chobham when Charlie ran it back in the early 00’s and yes my god it could get muddy !!

Had noticed this my self as well , AND you’ve got Patrolbase in bed with TG so me thinks due to zero kit coming in to the country and from that zero getting to the market place and both TG and GF no longer exporting to the UK they saw it as a way to circumvent the clusterfuck that is import duties at the present time ?

You might be right as a number of items are  marked as a 10~14 day lead time, Wouldn’t be surprised if TG and Gunfire have linked up with Daves and Patrolbase and once a week a van drives over from Poland, Rather than risk UPS, I work in logistics and that’s exactly what we do,it’s easier and safer to load one van to drive direct to the UK,then the driver picks up couple of loads enroute and touts around for something to take back to Poland.

    Ah ok, good to know.

I wanted to go in and look at an la85 and a Rapax m5 , couldn’t get through and shop looked shut so ended up going to Reading and buying from a shop there.

I’m a little put off as if they can’t answer the phone when you want to buy something then what will it be like when you have a problem and want some support.

The shop looks closed, think you need to buzz on the intercom for them to unlock the door

King arms are finally re-releasing their FAL/SLR line towards the end of this year. Best wait for them. Far cheaper than better than Ares. Other than that, Brit Cold War stuff is cheep, numerous and you can even use more modern DPM if you aren't that bothered about accuracy. Just depends on how far you want to take it but its one of the more easy historic loadouts to make.

Are they definitely going to re/release it, it’s been rumoured for a long time

I was on the British side, the squad I was with had a guy with the mortar, Got to say I’m very impressed with the East German uniforms and equipment you guys use.
