  1. So I recently played my first game with the real sword svd and had a massive amount of fun playing a marksman role. Infact I enjoyed it so much I have decided to build myself another dmr. Something that I dont have to be so careful with running around the woods. Im looking at around a £250-300 total budget for the build so the avenger sr25, s&t 417 and some of the newer 7.62 cyma stuff seem to be the best options. Advice and tips are much appreciated. Ive worked on a lot of guns but they have nearly all been rifles or machineguns.
  2. If you want something long barreled it may be a better option to look at guns with a v2.5 gearbox instead. the cylinder volume is higher on those.
  3. Does anyone else get a bit anxious about having a  lot of money invested in one gun?

I recently picked up a real sword svd and it is a lovely gun. But im running into the same issue I did when I first picked up a tm recoil. It just feels like a lot of money to have in one place and Im not sure it feels like its worth it. At least I dont have the worries about breaking it like I did with the tm.

but yeah. having a hard time justifying it in my mind especially when there are other more practical things I want for my work.

I agree with what's been said already tbh but...

I new a chap who's pension was largely made up of rare pistols that he and his father had collected.   They were handed in for a pittance after the pistol ban.   He lost scores of thousands.  I sometimes think of all the rifles, scopes etc that I have and wonder if I shouldn't sell it all whilst its still legal/useful.

Every cat shot with an air rifle, pillock with an airsoft pistol in public etc is another nail in shootings sports coffin if we don't organise ourselves properly.

Then again...  perhaps we ought to make hay while the sun shines.   You only live once after all.   Sod it, I'll order a Real Sword AK, a Rigby Highlander and a brace of Purdeys in the morning.   The I'll pay someone else to tell the Mrs...

      Years ago I bought myself a korg A3 guitar pedal board.it was 130 pounds.I agonised for weeks should I,shouldn't I,do I need it,can I justify having it?

Eventually I went to guitar shop and purchased it.Couldn’t sleep that night through feeling guilty. After all that money could have bought a lot of food.

Next day I took it back for refund.Still didn't feel better cause I didn't have what I wanted.

I realised after that I shouldn't feel guilty because I worked and I should be able to have something I wanted otherwise whats the point?

And in reality nobody went hungry. Lol

      Regards

Funnily enough, I bought the lad a Donner pedal the other day so his Granddad's Strat sounds like Toni Iommi's guitar on Sabbath's first four albums.   He's only young once.  Agreed to pay for teching his VSR clone too.

FFS I insist on teaching him to box, he's due a few breaks...

  4. I will say that with the shorter strikers like the as02 and 03 the cylinder volume is not an issue but the cylinder does need replacing.
  5. Vsr is generally the most popular and has the largest amount of parts support. There are versions available anywhere from the £80 jg to the several hundred pound tm and in between. l96s are also fairly well supported but not to the extent of the vsrs. I personally use the ares striker as I cant stand the vsr mags. It has less parts but it makes up for it by being compatible with a lot of aeg parts. I just like it because of correct mag placement and the size of the mags. It does also have a lot of external modularity The srs as far as I know needs very little work out of the box but has the price to match. spring powered svd dragunovs are also kicking around but dont have many upgrades the asg m40a3 sportsline is meant to be very good for a cheap price. full disclosure ive only worked with l96s, strikers and vsrs. I dont know that much about the others. I settled on the aso2 striker though as a nice compact rifle.
  6. Clean up and repair the handguard, rewire to deans. other than that im very happy with the current performance. im picking up a spare set of gears and a gearbox casing for it. but I dont really intend to mess with it.
  7. hidden up inside the magwell is a little lever. if you push that down and hold it the gun fires full auto so you can clear gearbox lockup.
  8. Yeah. seems to be very easy to take apart so far and the cutoff lever button is great for dealing with lockups. it seems like a very well designed airsoft gun as well as "oh, this was made in a proper gun factory"
  9. There are two holes in the outer barrel and then two very beefy grub screws under the rear sight which secure it in place. its as simple as taking those two out and sliding it forward
  10. Indeed. Having looked at it closer now the tab at the front of the handguard is half broken off. Im gonna do my best to restore it.
  11. As requested by @Adolf Hamstercopious amounts of photos. the metal on the gun is in great condition and it fires beautifully. Unfortunately though it seems the previous owner has been using a screwdriver to pry open the handguard to put in a battery.
  12. I have an svu. It does use a long sr25 style piston and cylinder. It is based on a clone of the real sword gearbox so spare gearsets and upgrades can be a little tricky to find but its very solid.
  13. I may consider selling 3d print files and kits and a parts list but I dont think id sell finished pieces. If incorrectly sealed and assembled its going to be a lot of hassle for returns or other bad shit if there are problems with them.
  14. Grenade launcher is progressing well. Hand forged some barrel bands to lock everthign in place and going to build the trigger mech and a grip in behind it. Just waiting for a slightly longer hose to arrives so I can have the co2 hlder and regulator further back so its not sticking out infront of the grenade launcher. Will waste a tiny bit more gas but will make it nicer to handle and look at. As you can probably see my design has pivoted more towards a gp25 style thing as its simply easier to make.
  15. Afrer taking apart, cleaning and a lot of wearing every thing in by hand I managed 3 shots in a row. Its a little too late to test it any further with neighbours nearby but ill update this tomorrow.
  16. Raptor mp443 grach. Pros Beautiful look and feel cons It dosent work. It dry fires but vents gas as soon as it has bbs in it. the trigger is so hard to pull it has actually strained the muscles in my wrist from trying to test fire it. On closer inspection the trigger is too long and catches on the bottom of the trigger guard. The mags springs arent strong enough to move the slide catch to lock back. so yeah not best pleased with it. and all this after waiting for a month and a half for british customs to sort it out.
  17. I have seen one video of the jackal made as a full blowback pistol with a hollow plastic slide but I cant find it for the life of me find it.
  18. Now fully functional. 8 full power shots from 1 co2 cartridge set at 450psi. Now its a matter of trimming the tube to make it more compact and bulding the launcher around it.
  19. Got bored waiting for all the little bits of hardware for my grenade launcher to arrive so I made a basic sight arangement for it. This is more of a prototype. Ill make the final one from aluminium. with some sort of adjustment method. For now though Im just going to zero it for 50m and bolt it down.
  20. Im probably gonna go for something vaugely eglm looking. And the tag shells dont actually seem to need resetting and even if they do I can just make the trigger have enough travel to do it. This sort of smooth plastic look with the metal underneath. Id like it to look nice but function is more important Also planning a standalone stock but this is probably gonna live on my ak102 most of the time
  21. Im building my own launcher around this shell. It will be a permenant part of it and front load like a gp25. the line goes to an external thing with a chamber for co2 cartridges and a regulator.
  22. So the co2 cartridge tag launchers cost £600+ and I really dont feel like paying that so this project has begun.
  23. id say have a look at some photos or borrow some at a game day. buying all of them will be pricey
  24. If the raven ones fit and fire it likely uses tm clone mags of some sort. So tm, army armament and kj works all use the same style of mag. we uses its own proprietary style. may be worth taking a look and seeing which closest matches your one.
  25. I briefly played around with gas blowback rifles but personally I didnt find them fun enough for me to put up with the maintenance needed. I have a couple of tm recoils I got cheap broken and while Ill admit they are definately not a replacement they are good enough for me. I still use gas pistols of course though.
