  1. Ordered an 8Fields plate carrier set up and a few mags last Thursday, took a few days to dispatch but I was updated every step of the way. Arrived yesterday, really well packed and the kit is great. Would definitely use these guys again!

  2. Honestly, I don't think Specna arms are in the same league as G&G, for me they're in with JG, CYMA, etc. A budget option which is really just a clone of someone else's design.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you there, especially as the receivers are made by E&C (who up until recently I'd never heard of). Safe to say, my next (and hopefully final) guns will be a CYMA Galil and probably TM's stainless M9A1!

  3. What you should do is make sure that sniping is really what you want to do. A lot of new players go in wanting to be a sniper, buy a gun and all the gear, then play and realise that they don't like sniping. It makes sense...there's a lot of waiting around, lining up your shot, pulling the bolt...it's hard work! I'd recommend an AEG myself, but to each their own!

With sniper rifles, you almost always have to upgrade them to get the best results. TM's build quality and reliability are normally excellent, but bear in mind that their FPS is always low. Like, 300fps low. If you want a more powerful rifle, you're better off going for a clone in the end...

But as I say, ensure that you really want to be a sniper. Borrow a rifle for a game, play and see if you truly enjoy the experience. Don't do what I did and buy a gun without testing it, then finding that you don't like the style of play. Also, sorry but I can't help much with the paint question!

    Good luck.

  4. You said it yourself, the Sten isn't practical or ergonomic, and the CM16 is recommended by everyone. For a starter gun, you really aren't gonna want to spend anything above, say, £200. G&G's entry-level M4s are so highly recommended for a reason. They're reliable, they perform well, they're easy to customise, cheap, well-built...the list goes on. Personally, I'd suggest that you take the advice of so many other players on here...

On the other hand, look at this way. Airsoft is a constantly growing sport, and new innovations are constantly being made. In two decades, we've gone from TM'S Famas to a ridiculous number of different models. For your first AEG, you want to make sure that you're happy with your purchase, because the chances are you'll be using it a lot and for a long time. Why limit yourself to three choices?

There's so much out there to choose from. This forum is a bank of knowledge, so use it to your full advantage! If ever you need a more specific idea, feel free to hit me up.

    Happy 'softing :D

  5. Hi all, going to be buying a G&G GC1-46 rifle to replace my current G&P M4. However, I need a couple of questions answered in the meantime. If anyone could help, it would be fantastic!

    - MAG COMPATIBILITY - what mags would work best with the rifle? I'm on a bit of a tight budget and so I will probably be
buying from Taiwan Gun. However, I've had problems with mags in a G&G Firehawk before, so I'm a
little worried. Classic Army and G&G hicaps fed beautifully, but Ares midcaps had problems.

    - BATTERIES - what battery would be best? I'm trying to avoid LiPos as much as possible. I'm assuming a normal NiMH 8.4v
crane battery would work, but I had problems trying to fit one in my personal M4. Would one of these work?

    - BLOWBACK - from what I can tell, the blowback on this 416 is pneumatic. Is it just for show or can you actually feel some of
it? Probably won't be anything compared to my friend's TM SCAR-L, but if it's able to be felt then BONUS!

Thanks everyone, as always all help is appreciated.

  6. It's really up to you. As someone who's owned both an AK and an M4, I preferred the AK just because of how different it was. The M4 is more versatile and has slightly better ergonomics, whereas the AK seems generally cooler and has a slightly better gearbox design (V3 rather than V2). Whatever's best for you, at the end of the day!

  7. Awesome! I would love a rail to fit on the top so I could attach a red dot sight? Opinion on this? http://www.tacticalairsoftshop.co.uk/cyma-ak-sports-line-metal-gearbox-cyma-cm028-202-p.asp

Alrighty, so the CM.028 is basically their base AK-47, with a plastic body. They're pretty good for what they are, actually. Bit more difficult to get a scope rail on the 47s because they don't have a side rail mount. What you could do is try and find a railed dust cover to replace the stock one, such as this http://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft/golden-eagle-ak-47-74-railed-dust-cover.htm#.VtSQ9_mLTcs

  8. Brilliant! Oddly the two guns i was looking at. I was also looking at the dboy ak74u ( http://www.tacticalairsoftshop.co.uk/dboys-ak-74u-1648-p.asp ). Would you recommend it? Also I would like to add a rail to it as well as buy an extra mag but was wondering what would fit? Thanks

Great coincidence there then! You could be okay but personally I'd go with the CYMA just due to being familiar with it. In terms of mags, pretty much any version of AK mag will fit - in my 74M (the AK-74M and AKS-74u have the same receiver), I could fit CYMA AK-74 mags, CYMA AK-47 mags and a TM Beta Spetsnaz mag. All fed perfectly. Where would you put the rail?

  9. Going to play it safe and say either CYMA AK or G&G CM16. G&Gs are great starter guns and decently cheap, and practically everywhere sells them. You also have many options with individual guns - from Firehawk (tiny but loud) to Raider (standard M4) to R8-L (basically a DMR).

CYMA's AKs are normally really good, I used to have their AK-74M. Their AKs normally range from £130 to about £200. Personally I'd recommend their AKS-74u, it's short and great for all environments as well as being full metal. Forcecore AKs (made by E&L) are also a pretty good option.

Hopefully this is helpful to you!

  10. most newbie hire peeps don't walk out on field kitted out to f*ck

they just got an old aeg that been used more than an old whore
tatty but safe full face mask, overalls that might have seen a wash last year maybe
a bag/bottle of bb's so they sound like their shaking maracas playing samba de amigo
    and that is it.....

    That was beautiful, Mr Duck!

Seriously though, if you're looking at green guns, visit SOCOM Tactical. They aren't great for big repairs, but they sell some nice guns with free two-toning (which they do in green, I can send pics if you want). Just don't ask them to completely disassemble your gun or it'll end up like a Lego set put together by a three-year-old.

With pistols...it's a tricky one, cause you have three options here. You could either go for a gas non-blowback one like an HFC (the ones listed on the pistol guide), you could get an AEP (CYMA make a half-decent Glock 18) or a cheap blowback gun like a KJW. Their Glock 23s and Beretta 92s are great, but the others are pretty hit-and-miss...

    Hope this helps.
