I started on the woodwork next, using pine as it was easily available. I cut and shaped the foregrip to match the profile of the barrel shroud;

 
Then the stock. For the design I wanted a wrap around shoulder stock as it would be easier to shoulder while in prone. I marked out the template and cut it out on the band saw;

For shaping I used a pillar drill with sanding head;



 
Placed all the pieces together to get an idea of size;

 
 
Time for staining, I did this completely wrong. Being an engineer, I decided I didn't need to read the instructions and used a paintbrush to apply the stain. So I added WAY too much stain, this then resulted in dark blotches all over the wood piece as the open cellulose structure of soft woods like pine means that irregularly absorb stain. So make sure you apply sparingly with a cloth till you get your desired finish.
 
 
 
 
 

 
To seal the wood, I used Danish oil. this acted as a solvent and lifted out some of the excess stain from the blotches giving a more consistent stain. The finial result of the slight blotchyness gave a unintentional aged effect which was a good result;

 
 
For the ammo box, I got lucky on eBay and got a real Vickers MG belt, Ammo box, and 20 deactivated .303 rounds for the belt;

 
Next, I spotted a bargain on eBay, a unidentified WW2 Bipod of some sort and another mount which I wont be using (possibly a vehicle mount?). If anyone has any idea what these are off, please share, I cant track down their identity for the life of me.

Had a hack at making my own barrel cover, pretty happy, but I want to redo it to make it just right;

Was a great night with some grand play and fair game all night. Massive thanks to Trig for organising it, even though he was a bit crippled and might not have played (though it didnt stop him kicking ass all night!) and another massive thanks to Prof for organising all the pyro. Man got enough explosives to keep all us nutters happy all night :-)

I'm always weary of players who use them full headmasks. They usually either super ninja or super gay.
Sadly for us he fell into the super ninja category

Basic rules for the game and site and a few tips;
 
Doors open about 6.30pm try to be there a few minutes early and please dont be late (Esoterick 😉).
Free parking is over the road under the office building, there will be a marshall there to open the barrier.
 
Final game finishes at 11.30pm.
No pyro after 11pm
 
Max fps 340
 
Semi auto only
 
Bfg's are same level use only, no throwing up or down stairs and all throws must be below knee height unless its a direct downward drop round a corner or similar.
Cardboard pyro can be used anywhere.
 
No CO2 guns allowed
 
No blind firing.
 
No riot shielding round the glass doorways.
 
Lasers and strobes are ok
 
No med or capture rules. No bang rule.
 
No coms on the private night. A few people using coms can really unbalance a game with so few players.
 
Full face is highly recommended. Those players who have played the mall without it on an open day this isn't the same thing its faster and usually closer. I usually get a lot more welts on a private game than on an open day.
 
Boots are recommended, it is nice flat concrete floors but have seen quite a few people twist their ankle on the stairs.
 
Torch is a must its pitch black in a lot of places in there during the day at night its worse.
 
If its chucking it down bring a change of clothes. There are lots of leaks and the concourse gets some nice puddles. If you slip and get soaked it will ruin your journey home.
 
The small shop on site sells most common bb weights but dont carry tracers.
 
There are chargers on site.
 
Most importantly have fun and dont take the games too seriously, this night is more about the social aspect but would still like some good game playing and lots of laughs.
 
The crappy bit;
 
The rules will be a bit more relaxed than on a normal open day but there is zero tolerance for any aggressive behaviour.
No cheat calling, its ok to politely point out if you hit someone and they didn't feel it but no yelling "take your fookin hits".
Any players who feel like having a tantrum just go stand in corner and swear at the wall because if you do it to another player you're going home.

Im the brother shortman mentioned haha im about 5'10, 18ish stone, and really quite built shoulders and back with the generous insulation we all know and love. I have a bulldog mk2 that fits fine, and is quite adjustable for height and width. Side panels come off to give it even more comfort. I also have a h harness and belt set up and a viper chestrig. The last two are definately the more comfartable for a bigger guy, and cheaper than the bulldogg.
 
Bulldogg is around 150 new and fully loaded (does come with alot of shiz tbf) and the belt and harness were about 60 together. The chest rig is 35 new. All have plenty of stuff for a skirmish, and the belt or bulldogg will do for a long milsim game with a bit of extra pouches.
 
A guy on youtube diles46 is a great guide for bigsoft as he calls it.

I would also highly recommend them, an interesting shop to visit just to see all the TM and ICS stock (not all are shown on their website), and agree it is worth giving them a call to see what they have. Website could be a bit better but is useable http://www.combatsouth.co.uk/ .

Just though id chuck this up, i normally go there and get stuff in store and the guys are a great bunch. I havent got the chance to get there so i phoned up and ordered it. They always have what i want, the pricing is really good, the postage was cheap for next day and i had a good chat at the same time.
 
Cannot recommend them enough to anyone, they do mods and work on guns too but i havent needed that service yet so cant comment but from the rest of there service i would say its gonna be spot on.

I honestly think some people forgo a face mask because they think it makes them look tough and more tacticool, these people are idiots.

Love how you lot are so cuddly and sweet.
