Converting from mini-Tamiya to Deans...
RostokMcSpoons replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in Electric Guns
Success! The beast is ALIVE cheers all (I'll add a couple of pics here) Indeed. Being a fan of the gun in the Battlefield games etc, I had to get one of these stubby AKs eventually. This one has the 'interesting' customised paintwork. I knew I wouldn't mind an excuse to get the old rattle cans out again, so that didn't bother me. Neither did it being semi-auto only, as it'll be for CQB. If you're wondering, the long bit of Cyrillic text reads "Russian warship, f*ck yourself" And the short bit on the other side is 'glory to heroes', along with a 'Slava Ukraini'. The Adidas stripes and logo might be a bit much, but I'll probably keep it all like this until my daughter's Bulgarian boyfriend has had a go with it! -

There were two groups from what I gathered. One was great and nobody had issues with them, and one was not-so-great and I heard complaints all through the day about them. I think we got into a firefight with your lot very early on the Saturday and I didn't have any issues with that firefight. People took their hits on both sides (I tagged one and then watched him hoping he'd bait in the medic who never showed up ) and the remnants of our group eventually fell back because there were only like... 3 of us left and we didn't fancy our chances with the Aussies and other US special forces group patrolling around. The guy who full auto'd me in the face did it after I was hit and waving my medic bandage around (so if that was you, for shame! ), and was way after we had fallen back from engaging what I assume to be your group, regrouped with another NVA unit and then got sandwiched between this other group and one of the Aussie teams. I don't want people to think that I was saying that all the NATO guys were awful, that couldn't be further from the truth; every group was great on both sides, apart from one group which was notably awful. And as much as I said the other group sucks, it still doesn't top my first Vietnam game a few years back where some guy squared up to me and wanted to start a fight after I told him that none of our objectives were in our spawn and were all out on people in the field because the US weren't allowed to be in our spawn. That was a... um... interesting encounter. In terms of the complaints I heard from the US side, they were limited (as I was VC and only spoke to a few US guys who were camped near us), but the complaints I heard were basically around bad attitudes. Obviously they're not going to have the same non-hit-taking complaints as we had of them because they weren't shooting at them. At least, I hope they wouldn't be

I wasn't sure if I was allowed the plates, as I never see them for sale. Got it from a mate who came back from Afghanistan. Swapped it for a sword cane, lucky really as they banned now and he had to dispose of it. If no one here wants it, I'll take it to a military show next year. eBay fees and PayPal puts me off. Thanks for the replies. Yep they tiny little plates, but better than nothing I guess. Hope our current military have something better to rely on. -

My guess would be VFC still tbh, despite the typo they are the only company I can think of that would go to lengths to engrave a heatshield 😂
-
-
-
-
Aye, definitely carbine length. I know VFC had their RIS engraved but I can't imagine they'd let a typo be implemented?
-
That was my first thought too!
-
Looks like it's been screwed/riveted in at some point, looks like an M4 size.
-
Slightly too long for the handguard it was sat in😁I'll try to remember to measure it tomorrow. But why bother to laser engrave a part that will never be seen? Slightly bigger pic. below. Forgot to mention it wasn't screwed down to anything, just lying loose.

It looks average to me... 😬

Size isn't everything you know.

I wore the green camo version in Kosovo. The standing joke being we hoped the bad guys were good shots to hit that tiny little plate. -
Definitely an Asian repro heat shield. How long is it?
-
Given the spelling it's prob an asian repro heat shield.
-
Thoughts of the collective airsoft brain please. While sorting out the M4 bits to list in the classsifieds I happened to notice markings on what I thought was just a thin aluminium sheet inside one of the handguards - see pic. below. Now I can't imagine how a real steel part like this would end up in a pile of airsoft parts, but I also can't imagine and airsoft manufacturer going to the time, effort and presumably licence requirements to engrave this on an item that will basically never be seen! In the words of the immortal Manuel, 'Que?'

Have you any experience of an MWS to compare it to? I've been swinging back and forth on buying a V3 VFC for a while, but Jaeger Precisions latest range test of them vs MWS shows suggests they are still not there in terms of accuracy. If this latest revision of their hop can close that gap I'd be interested to know.
