Hello,

Currently looking at a hard case for my rifs.

Are there any benifits between the foam styles in the title? Pick n Pluck - Wave Foam.

Thanks

Pick n pluck will eventually fall apart over time, individual cubes will detach

Wave foam over that any day, especially if you intend to use your case to store/transport different replicas

Shadow Foam is top teir though

If this is in regards to the nuprol cases, their pick n pluck is trash, just get the cheaper wave foam and then if you want to get a cutout shape, go to shadowfoam for it, as that is truly amazing compared to both of nuprols options

This sadly is the deciding factor for many!

I got an XL nuprol case with pick n pluck... don't do it.

I've recently bought wave foam to replace it.

For anyone so inclined you can get a product from Plastidip that you paint on the pick and pluck and sets it rock sold. Its like a layer of pleather that seals it all together. Never been a fan of shadow foam myself after trying it for tool storage if water gets into the membrane it seems to stay wet forever.

I used the Sealey version of shadow foam, get about 3times the size for the same price, £30 for a piece that would do this case three times over with a bit to spare

It’ll probably be the very same stuff

Where did you purchase that from?

When I’m gonna change my CAMS about for different RIF’s, I’d like to save money 😄

Expensive once the VAT is added on and the delivery….ouch!

Amazon is just under £30 delivered, although a slightly smaller sheet.

I've used this company before: https://www.efoam.co.uk/

Look at the Ethafoam in grey; delivery is free.  In the notes ask them not to fold the foam, although this stuff is pretty robust and will regain it's shape if creased.

When i worked in art shipping we went through pallets of that stuff, 25 and 50mm in 8x4 sheets, every week. Can't remember the supplier offhand, but it wasn't particularly expensive.

Ordered some on Saturday & it arrived today, at some point I'll cut it to size for my cases, I don't have any 'shadow foam' to compare it to but it's million times better than the p&p

Really don't know why they call this stuff Kaizen foam. If anything it should be Poka-Yoke foam.
