3. Learn the locations of all the key places so that when they rattle off a list of names in the briefing you know what the **** they are talking about.

Site maps should definitely be a thing. Even if it is just a line drawing with semi accurate directions and distance.

The first time you go to a site, especially larger game zones, they throw all those names.....or they are pointing in a direction that the objective isnt in.

Maps do a couple of things, lessen the 'regulars' advantage and they also make the site more accessable for new comers. Again this is the standard that CS set in me. CS's was just a line drawing that showed significant elevation, Ambush (Botley) to their credit had one up for use hours after they asked for feed back, did it in the style of rpg.

Ucap have also started to publish their sites.

As someone who plays a lot of different sites I hear that, Fall back to the DEA base after we have cleared the greenhouse???? Sorry WHAT, WHERE, WHY?

It just makes sense, even a blown up map in the safe zone so you can roughly see the defined areas is super useful.

But good points, as I always say to noobs you dont know what you need or want until you play and get some experience behind you. Plenty of people have this exhaustive list of equipment they feel they need when all you need is eye pro. Obviously a gun helps, a spare mag, battery, bag and boots but really thats it. You can get by for a few games with the minimum.

Things like BFGs are a novelty, I havent used mine nearly half as much as I should and nowhere near enough to justify the prices :D  but fun when you have it.

Anyway im glad your enjoying it and have been to different places already, variety is the spice of life so they say.

I’ve played once at Warminster . They do have a large map in the safezone and I believe they have small maps available . Or do what I did and freeze frame this vid ...

....then print off the map shown . It was very useful as a noob at this site.

I hadn't realised the site was so big. I didn't get to see all of it on the day. I know now I should have paid more attention to the map.

I've been looking at chest rigs and most of them have a map pocket. Just need to get red and blue pens then I'll be the one taking notes at the briefings

If you are going back to a site often, laminate and carry dry wipe markers so each game can get marked off objectives spawn (if know). Tacticool advantage right there, but I might make it look like you are taking it too seriously....

As a Warminster 'regular' I know what you mean about building names and not knowing where to go, now I've started to learn them though I find them much easier.

I'm told that Dave will give you a map print out if you ask him, but I haven't tried that yet.

I tend to take a notebook and jot down respawn points and times, along with the major objective, it's been super useful so far.

When are you likely to get back out?

I'm playing this Sunday, if you're there come and say hello.

Sadly I probably won't be allowed out to play again this month. If I manage to get a day pass from my other half I'll let you know.

I didn't get to see any of the southern half of the site so looking forward to that next time.

I've taken a screenshot of the map, now I just have to find my crayons.😁

The lower half (Southern) is definitely my preference, its mostly thick brush so lots interesting fighting there, plus the Stargate is pretty cool.

Good luck there and let me know when you've got the chance, I should be playing fortnightly from now on, but I'm not great with timetables.
