emilianoksa Posted August 25, 2019 Posted August 25, 2019 Came across a video of this by accident the other day. It contains things you might expect like bottles of thick and thin silicone oil, but also isopropyl alcohol for barrel cleaning, some thread lock for hop up screws, celluloid patches and a bottle of "mechanic" oil for lubricating metal parts. He doesn't say what the mechanic oil is but warns against contact with o rings. So I am guessing it's some sort of light mineral oil. He uses it on the slides of his Novritsch pistol. I don't need one of his kits because I have plenty of these items and prefer to buy them separately, but I wondered what the oil for metal was. Do any of you use oil on the slides of your handguns?
Supporters Rogerborg Posted August 25, 2019 Supporters Posted August 25, 2019 For my metal slide on metal rails, a couple of drops of 3-in-1, sure. I'd use silicone if there was plastic involved.
Supporters M_P Posted August 26, 2019 Supporters Posted August 26, 2019 Yes, pretty much anytime there's 2 parts that touch and movement is involved it's worth lubricating
Tommikka Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Googling the Novritsch maintenance kit gives alternate kits, for ‘mechanic oil’ read ‘bearing oil’
