Maverick231
Hey folks im currently planning on upgrading my recently purchased UK-ARMS L85A1. My plan is to use it as a Sniper Rifle, I bought it spacificly for this as its a 1 shot rifle. Im looking to get a little more power out of it so better springs will be needed. Im also looking to extend and upgrade the inner and outer barrels aswell as a suitable scope with rail extension if needed with a bipod and a proper British Army SA-80 3point sling. I know alot of people dont like cheap airsoft weapons like this and I know its not the best L85 out there but this is a working progress for me and I know what Im getting myself in for so please only post helpful answers and not comments about the weapon being aweful or me not knowing what im talking about and so on.... I just wanna know what brands I can use for the extras that I need as I want the best out of it. Thanks in advanced! And also I wanna know what attachments are best, i.e i cirtain scope design or bipod model.
Guest PT247
if the rail is like the real steal it'll be 19mm and wont fit anything but a SUSAT.... and wont fit some of the copies either as they are 20mm. The amount of money it'll cost to upgrade makes the choice of gun a strange one.... the SA80 is quite unique.... not to mention the low budget choice of gun either. I get that you think a springer will make it like a bolt action sniper..... but really, it wont. If money is an issue then upgrading to a sniper will be impossible, if it is not an issue then why the cheap gun? I didn't want to reply in exactly the way you have predicted people will, I tried not to with the start of it but this is just not ever going to be a "sniper" it may end up with more range than it currently has but for what you'll have to spend you may as well just buy a decent AEG which will be far more consistent and accurate and reliable and cost the same if not loads less
Airsoft_Mr B
I don't think you can really upgrade them because it's like a £30 they don't make parts compatible for spring rifles. You could probably get a more powerful spring in there but then your gun would break anyway
Maverick231
Ok thats fairenough, Im thinking maybe a longer barrel will get a few more FPS. What sniper scope do you think would look the best on an L85?
Guest PT247
like I said at the start of my post, about the only thing that will fit the L85 is the SUSAT. It fits a 19mm rail which a realistic L85 should emulate. Why don't you put a ruler on the rail and measure its width. I doubt it'll be very aftermarket friendly in not just its width but also the type of rail. If you are happy to drill holes through the cheap plastic then you may be able to fit a proper rail to it and then any sight. I'd not bother with any optic over 3 x magnification as you'll not require it.
Guest PT247
a longer inner barrel will probs cost between £30-£60. Assuming it is possible to change your outer barrel then ICS do one for the L86 which costs £38, you'll need a new hop unit which costs £19 assuming it fits. A new spring if you can find one around £10. A decent optic around £50 then add P&P to all that and you are looking at around £120 plus whatever your gun cost initially.hope this helps you out and also why we are not all doing the same but instead buy guns that are more fun, more accurate and more skirmishable for the same money ish
Maverick231
Iv had a look and the rail is 19.5mm. Im sure 0.5mm wont make too muck of a differance.

Supporters Airsoft-Ed Posted February 2, 2014 Supporters Share Posted February 2, 2014 It can't be upgraded. Full stop. It isn't designed to be dismantled. It is cheap, it is made of very low quality parts, it is not designed to be a skirmish weapon, standard airsoft barrels will not fit, standard hops will not fit, I'm not even sure it has any hop at all, I personally wouldn't even consider it an airsoft gun.Not trying to be an arse, it's just the truth. toothpick-NL
i just put last month a iron hop-up unit for a m4 and it fits. I also have a precission barrle in it and changed the hop-up rubber and nub. Only have to look for a new piston because its almost teeth less

Unrustle_Thine_Jimmies
Ah,But yours is an AEG Toothpick-NL,Which means somebody is probably going to make spare and upgrade parts for it. OP's is a cheap spring gun that's not made to be taken apart or skirmished with.

Anarchy
I've got an ICS L85 which comes with the 19mm dovetail rail, you can get conversion kits to put a 20mm pitcanny rail on it, not sure if this would work on yours though, or if your thinking acog the british issue type acog riser fits directly on to the 19mm rail, it does make a big difference, i tried putting an acog with a normal 20mm mount on it and it was not secure
CON
Its rubbish and u dont know what your talking about... Haha but really, your gun is more of a bb gun than a airsoft...umm there not really upgradeable...however if your good at d.i.y, your best of making your own, if you spend lots on making it super powerfull etc you may damage it as the gun isnt designed to have that much power....really I reccomend selling it and buying a aeg l85a2 for couple hundred ..your probsbe saving money aswell as it wont need as much modding...good luck mate
