Supporters Lozart Posted January 27, 2014 Supporters Share Posted January 27, 2014 Maplin or Homebase will have most of those, otherwise Amazon. The lubricants should be available from most airsoft suppliers. The only specialist bit you MAY need is the wrench for a delta nut.
Supporters Ian_Gere Posted January 27, 2014 Supporters Share Posted January 27, 2014 Search eBay for CT-2 Teflon Grease - I promise you it's the way forward. When you consider which hex wrenches / Allan keys be aware that, unless you get a damn good make, the small ones will round off pretty easily. A good way to get them cheap is to buy a used Snap-On multi-wrench (they also come in blue plastic) and take the ones you want off it, because the wrench itself is a right PITA - any screw driver through the loop at the end of the hex bar acts a a T-bar for initial/final turns just fine. Unfortunately people seem to be well onto the knowledge that Snap-On screwdrivers last really well, but fortunately Stanley ones are common as muck and decent enough for our needs and their pliers are good too. If I were you I would steer clear of power-drivers, because you're asking for a cross threading using them. Elastic bands from the postman; cable ties, black gaffer tape, copperslip, solder & iron from fleabay, Heat-sinks and Abbey Silicone Oil from an airsoft supplier, along with a delta nut wrench, as Loz says, and if you want to be able to swap pinion gears on motors you need a special tool to extract them. Edit: oh yeah, and Omega 636 Penetrating Oil is the dogs' bollocks for getting stiff parts like tiny body pins, or awkward bolts, that have been in for ages, unfastened without much/any damage. Way better than WD-40, but just as important to keep it completely away from any rubber or silicone parts and probably best to clean it off any plastic parts pretty quick. Airsoft_Mr B
If there's enough interest I might suggest to Patrol Base they could put together some components for an affordably priced tool kit. Seems to me like it would be a good idea but they would have to no doubt buy in some components, they could include some stuff they already have in stock and cheaper things like tape and grease. I might make thread on this for ideas later, and a poll so I can see if there's much demand. I've always liked the idea of a retailer putting together like sniper packages, kits / deals and things. Helps people to get into airsoft, let's them sell off some of their stuff. Might look into it when I want to set up my own airsoft business (it is something I'd genuinely like to do) But anyway in response to cheeseman I don't think you can just buy a kit at the moment. I've certainly never seen any especially designed for airsoft anyway. I'm sure you could find everything you're looking for relatively cheap. Supporters jcheeseright Posted January 28, 2014 Supporters Share Posted January 28, 2014 yeah, and you'll almost certainly end up with better quality stuff for a lower price, when any retailer sees the word 'airsoft' it's like they chuck on an extra 40% markup just because they can.
