In my personal opinion there is little, if any need for a pistol in a skirmish situation. Unless you decide to use it on purpose, you'll never use it. Money you have set aside for one would be put to better use upgrading your primary - new barrel, hop rubber/unit, maybe getting some sort of optic, some more mags et cetera.

My pistols have always just ended up weighing me down, emptying my wallet, and taking up space I could use for magazines for my rifle.

If you're going to get one, I'd say to go for something high quality, otherwise you won't be able to guarantee it'll work when you need it to.

Look at Tokyo Marui and KWA for the top end pistols. KJW and Socom Gear if you want something slightly cheaper but less reliable. The HFC pistols are a grade below that in my opinion. They don't get a lot of press but they're in the same sort of league as WE, which isn't high in the ranks.

If you just want it for back garden plinking then I'd say to just buy whatever you like the look of, you can get some relatively ok pistols for back garden use for around the £40-80 mark, since you don't need to worry about reliability all that much when you're not getting shot at you ought to be alright with just about anything.

As im new i will be in the back garden, using targets until i make the step up.

The problem i have found is that as i can only get two tone pistols it narrows down what i can get and the quality i can get

Quite a lot of shops offer a two tone service for an additional fee. You can get any of the guns you see and just have them painted. It's usually an extra £10-15 and you get the option once you've reached the "Check out" stage.

I know with 100% certainty that Wolf Armouries offer it, I'm sure others do too. I'll have a hunt around and add to the list for you.

Shops with two tone service:

Wolfarmouries.co.uk

Zerooneairsoft.com

Patrolbase.co.uk

They ought to give you a pretty wide spectrum of pistols to choose from.

if you go on to airsoft world you can find some non blow back P8 pistols (usp 9mm) in two tone for 40-50 quid there quite good

also unlike ED i like to have a pistol its quicker to grab a pistol than reloading or unjamming a AEG also if you have a very reliable, light weight side arm like the one i use then you know you have a chance

My first pistol was a kwa 1911a1 and that was and still is brilliant.i have not long got a we glock 17 and that is good and if you want you can get that in two tone.when buying a pistol always check for spare mags as you will need at least 2

I use my pistol quite a lot as I play cqb. They are great for going through doors as even with my mp5 the enemy will see your barrel coming out of the doorway before you see them. A pistol reduces this problem almost entirely. I use a KJW Sig Sauer P226. its a good gun but the mags that come with it are more useful as a paperweight. I bought WE mags which are pretty reliable. not had a leak on one yet.

Patrol Base is great there's a NBB C02 USP for £40. (NBB = Non-blowback)

Good for the price and C02 is more reliable in colder temperatures than gas.

If you want more realism then a GBB (gas blowback) is what you want but they'll be at least £100+

I think you've been looking at JBBG. Nothing really wrong with the site, I've always had great service from them but I don't them I just don't trust them with more expensive stuff.

Anyway look at the websites Ed reccommended.

Here are the pistols PB do for around £100:

WE Browning Hi-power

ASG C60 Compact

ASG Glock 18

KJW full metal M1911

ASG M9 IA Heavy Weight

I just bought a pistol because there are times when skirmishing that my AEG lets me down. For eg, one of my metal mags sometimes unwinds itself when I insert it into the magwell pre-wound. I leave it until last to use and don't often have to, but when I do, it's a lottery whether I'll be able to pop back up/out and continue firing, or start swearing while I wind... A pistol will give me a second option if I'm under pressure. Of course, Ed is right, I could have bought a spanking new metal mag for less than a pistol, even though I only paid £35 for it brand new, but having a pistol means I can go to the pistol and shotgun only CQB games that you see from time to time.

Another factor is that I've given a few people bleeding face wounds with my AK at close range and, TBH, this is making me hesitate to pop round corners firing... a little anyway. Having said that, the bloody thing is about as powerful anyway, doh!

This is my review of the pistol. Oh yeah, and PB apparently have it for £40 so you could get one two toned from them if Action Hobbies won't do it.
