What grease, lube, cleaning stuff, etc. do you use on what part of your guns?

Just curious as I've ran out of some random silicone grease and spray that I had.

It was alright, but have no idea where it came from :L.

I'm thinking white lithium grease for my sniper cylinder and piston.

But no idea on what I need for AEG gears. Never had to add any to them, they're fine at the moment, but will need it eventually.

So, what do you use, and where do you get it?

Also, what do you use for cleaning barrels?

I use tissue paper and silicone spray until clean, then a couple dry runs.

I've seen somewhere that you're better off using water than silicone, and not to use any kind of paper as it scratches the barrel.

Someone else has suggested rubbing alcohol and some lint free cloth. It leaves the barrel as dry as possible and prevents anything from sticking inside it.

I thought it may be time for a change as I'm getting a new, >£80 barrel and don't fancy scratching it.

Thanks,

Liam.

I use guarder Teflon grease from fire-support for the gears and am going to invest in some abbey silicone grease and oil as they are highly recommended.

Tissue will scratch your barrel. Lint free cloth and if your using silicone oil id do a final run through with some form of cleaning alcohol. It dries fast and doesn't leave a reside like other oils/cleaners.

I use Guarder Teflon grease too for my AEG gearbox needs, including the piston head/cylinder seal. I've been using Abbey silicon oil on my bushes and motor but, now I've got some Kanzen bearings, I'll give the Teflon grease a try on them too.

For cleaning the barrel I use bits the same cloth strip that is issued for cleaning SA80 barrels dampened with Nag Champa soapy water (it's very astringent so I reckon it's the best of my soap options for removing oil), another bit of cloth to dry the barrel and finish off with Servisol Drive Cleaner sprayed onto another bit (it smells mainly of alcohol but with something else, maybe diethyl ether - whatever it is, it leaves no residue).

The grease came from Airsoft Club, the oil from Airsoft World, the SA80 cloth from eBay, the Nag Champa soap from a hippy shop in Beeston and the Servisol from a little computer shop in Weston-Super-Mare ;-)
