Samoolol
Evening guys, as a few of you may know I recently made the decision to move from shooting space guns (Paintball) to nice realistic airsoft guns Anyway, I've decided on my entire loadout including gun ect. I will be wearing small mesh goggles with a mesh half face mask and a baseball cap. Can any of you recommend a decent camera that doesn't need attaching to a helmet? Would probably be some kind of head band or something? I'm happy to spend up to about £150 and understand that with that money, I won't be recreating Saving Private Ryan! Just something good enough to show the other half why exactly I'm doing this lol. Many thanks in advance, Sam. P.S. Anyone around Coventry area, head down to the grange this 27th! Tariq
Problem i find with headcams is you set it to look where you look... however when you look down the sights of your gun, its not looking in the correct direction. I have a cheap MicroDV camera (£8) off eBay. Quality is good for its price. Works fine connected as a gun-cam. Never got on with head-cam mountings. If you want to find me, i'll be the guy all in black w/ helmet, G36 or MP7

rschris
Heres a vid of an ebay spy camera in action from a game at the weekend. This was taped to the front barrel and pulled up this footage. Same resolution as the camera Tariq uses but in a smaller unit and no problems what so ever with it, no tempermental problems what so ever. even took a few hits and no problem
Tariq
Can if you want. There should be a decent number of people there on the 27th. 25-30+ players last month for the last monthly game. 'tis indeed. If you search Mini DV or MD80 Clone you'll find it. Its a cheap chinese knock off of a camera but it does its job. Bit tempremental but for under £10 can you really complain. £150 for a camera just to make amateur random vids isnt really worth it. This is what i have, although from a different seller i cant find anymore. Same thing, but some on eBay don't come with the mounts etc.

rschris
Have a look at the video. I attached the keyring by the usual key ring 'ring' to the sling point (in case it fell off) and electrical tape around the end of the barrel holding it on and couldnt really tell it was there. amatuerish I know but im not having another £200 HD cam getting taken out!! Does the job for peanuts. Contemplated taking one apart and just creating a small spy hole camera on my helmet.

metal_snapper
Been using a Go Pro full HD for a couple of years. New to airsoft but used my Go Pro for all kinds of things like snowboarding and kitesurfing. It's used a lot now and some TV programmes are now using them (Gadget show for one) I have only one gripe about this cam is the menu system isn't very user friendly but I have the Go Pro one and I'm not sure if they've changed it. You can get all kinds of mounts for them! Best HD cam on the market for sure.....but do check out the Contour and also the Drift just as a matter of course. Tariq
Yeah Go Pros are great. Being used in the BTCC and the formula events aswell. If you're serious about filming its a good invenstment. But for knocking out random vids it's a rather expensive bit of equipment

But for knocking out random vids it's a rather expensive bit of equipment I'm happy to spend a little more once I'm really into the sport Ordered most my loadout other than the gun itself so on the 27th I'll be in the black hoody (Or shirt depending on the weather!), green camo baseball cap/mesh goggles/mouth-guard, camo jeans and an all green tac vest. See you there mate You coming alone?
Supporters Airsoft-Ed Posted May 14, 2012 Supporters Share Posted May 14, 2012 I've been thinking of getting some cameras, but I figure you'd need about 3 to make any decent all inclusive, immersive videos. I was going to get a helmet cam, gun cam and then have a camera man follow me around and then edit the pieces together so I can always get an eye on what's happening, with the target, the gun and myself in the shot. Trouble is, 3 high quality cameras would cost a small fortune and I haven't a clue how to edit videos, so the plan's taking a back seat at the moment. I saw some really interesting footage of a fella who had one on his gun towards what ever he aimed at, one on his gun point back at him (To give an idea what he was doing, this footage was played in a small box in the corner) and one helmet cam. He switched from helmet to gun cam depending on whether he was aiming for looking. Looked great Like you said though, three cameras and a lot of editing skill needed! joshcowin
its not as much the editing thats the problem its the wasted camera time just before a game or when your waiting edit:heres the channel me and a friend set up as we both have go pros
