The 'What have you just bought' Thread
Speedbird_666 replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Yeh - just found it. I'm resisting the urge to order anything from Ali until the Chinese New Year has passed. Any problems with shipping with the new VAT rules? -

That sure does look very nice. SomoGear? https://www.somogear.com/product/somogear-ngal-red-aiming-laser-ir-laser-flashlight/ -
TBH, I have never run an alarm with my LiPos. Generally I switch packs during the lunch break. Never had an issue with over-discharge, but I do take a cell checker with me. When I switch LiPos at lunch there’s normally around 50% capacity left (2s 1300mAh Turnigy NanoTech), but it depends on how trigger happy you are. Then when I get home, I storage charge then keep them in a bat-safe box.

How about this one? - it's a smaller, inline version that plugs between the battery and gun: https://www.componentshop.co.uk/in-line-low-voltage-alarm-deans.html

You mean a LiPo battery alarm? They are £3 posted from eBay. Plug into the balance plug of the LiPo, stick it in the foregrip of your G36. It'll beep if the cell voltage drops below 3.7v

Taiwangun Shipping Disruption (Brexit Related Content)
Speedbird_666 replied to Speedbird_666's topic in General Discussion
So can HMRC through Direct Recovery. The new rules came in a few years back just before I left the department. If you owed more than £1K in tax, and had over £5k stashed across your bank accounts, the money can be taken directly from the bank if you ignore HMRC trying to contact you. -

As previously mentioned, it could be currency fluctuation. I've seen the prices go up and down a few quid each way quite a few times on TG. I've no idea how frequently they update their conversion rates - it could be a built into their shops back-end system to pull the spot rate automatically. -
Struggling a bit to find anything that really excites me. So far my Wishlist is pretty meh: 1) Some kind of mechanical HPA setup (either Tippmann M4 or Polarstar Kythera) 2) an MP5 - preferably a 'K' model. 3) an LCT or E&L AK - Krink length with a buffer tube (heresy I know) 4) ASG Bren 2 5) ASG Scorpion Evo If was really really flushed with cash: 6) TM NGRS SCAR - Just to see what all the fuss is about.

TG stock a lot of stuff that’s not readily available from UK suppliers, so for me cost is a lesser issue, it’s about having choice of products. For example, they have the CYMA blue edition MP5K in stock, which I’ve yet to see here in the UK. Handling fees are annoying, but it’s the import duty that will be the kicker, if it’s charged at all. -

Taiwangun are not charging Polish VAT on sales to the UK. All the prices have been dropped by 23%. UK VAT is chargeable at import, collected by the carrier. Not sure about the duty side of things as to whether it is chargeable under the free trade agreement or not. So net we gain 3% on the VAT difference, but that will be swallowed in carrier charges. The shipping cost has been dropped a little I notice, just over £9. -
Upcoming Gng Armament Pcc45
Speedbird_666 replied to Enid_Puceflange's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Just realised that the PCC45 mags are not compatible with the UMG. The feed port is at the front of the Mag (M4 style) compared to the UMG (at the back). Vs Well, that's an opportunity wasted. -
I think the Bushidos are full metal. The lower end Saigo Defense models (Ronin, Kenji and Shinobi) are plastic-bodied and are in roughly the same price ball-park as Evolution.

Basically. But I quite like it - especially when the rails are stripped off. -

Yeh, now you mention it the UMG/P was a bugger with the length of it's mags. The gun was decent otherwise. Now, if a manufacturer came up with a UMP9 instead....... -

Try the G&G UMG version. Excellent quality plastics. Saw the PCC45 the other day on US Airsoft's channel. I quite like it. -
At one point Ultrafire did a 6p-esque clone? There's a legit SF 6P for sale on eBay Z1 sell a what looks like a G2 Clone with T6 LED for £25, plus another £5 for a tape switch. *edit - it's a clone of the G2, my bad* It was sad that Solarforce shut up shop. I still have two of their 6P clones with T6 LED drop-ins.

I just bought a Classic Army G36K 'doer-upper'/boneyard. Hopefully it doesn't become a money-pit to fix. -
New Gun or Not to New Gun? That Is the Question
Speedbird_666 replied to DoooomRider's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
At their price point, they should be amazing out of the box at least 99% of the time. But nooope. I had a VFC 416 once. It worked. Lovely to look at , but was completely unexceptional in terms of performance. Sold it fairly quickly. This was a while ago, and I appreciate that the newer guns have (supposedly) better internals, but if they don't work, what's the point? You pays your money, you takes your choice I suppose. -
Pts Us Palm Ak Grip (Dremel Related Content)
Speedbird_666 replied to Speedbird_666's topic in Electric Guns
Nope. Just 'AEG'. I've been looking around, a few reviews said that it fits CYMAs ok, but needs the tabs dremmeling. But there is no way this one is fitting on mine. It pulls the GB completely out of alignment, rotating around the safety. Not really worth the hassle, I'll find the CYMA alternative which I know will just drop-in. Won't be as nice, but it'll get the job done. -
Pts Us Palm Ak Grip (Dremel Related Content)
Speedbird_666 replied to Speedbird_666's topic in Electric Guns
Indeed. There's no way that I can get this grip to work - it throws the GB completely out of whack. Oh well. -
Has anybody installed one of these on their CYMA AK AEG? No, NOT the CYMA knockoff version - I'm talking about the legit PTS version. Just got mine, and it definitely is not a drop-in fit on my CYMA CM.045. If I push it up to full mate with the receiver, the bottom screw will not align with the motor cage. If I align the bottom hole on the grip with the motor cage, then I'm left with a gap between the grip and receiver. Either way, the gearbox isn't liking it being either pulled out of alignment of wobbling around. So, before I break out the Dremel and files, has anyone successfully installed one on their CYMA? It's a beautifully molded piece of kit, the quality is exceptional. But if it's too much of a ballache I will send it back and source the CYMA knockoff instead. Ta.

Need Help! Can't Figure Out How to Contact Advertisers?
Speedbird_666 replied to lsw-1916's topic in General Help
Try telling this guy - This is the current state of play in the New Players section. Over 100 posts in that section, nothing of note outside of it. If this isn't deliberate post-count bumping, I don't know what is. -
Don't forget Ares, JLS and Classic Army also made SCARs over the years. Obviously TM have too with their NGRS but that's one of the easiest to identify. Best bet is to look at the gearbox. The choice of components used (assuming it's relatively stock) could provide useful clues to it's origin.

Welcome. I once had a Stark Arms G17 (made by VFC) that had a similar issue, the gun would shoot nearly a mag and then the slide would stick out of battery. Turns out, it needed a lot of lube. Once cleaned and greased/oiled in the appropriate places it worked fine. Try that first and see what happens.

Please don't take any offence when I say this, but when someone, with a very low post count, asks how unfuck their paint-stripping antics, it generally sets off alarm bells. For every well educated and informed individual, there are a dozen dickheads that could potentially fuck everything up for the rest of the community. It would have been remiss of us not to question your intentions. I hope we haven't scared you away from the forum - it's a very useful resource with many experienced hands on board that can help point you in the right direction when you need it.
