  1. When I said import, what I meant was posting my own RIF from an overseas address to my address here. But if an offence is committed just by "bringing an RIF into Great Britain" then I guess I need the defence as well. On a separate note; Gosh, that smile looks... happy.
  2. Hello So I went to an airsoft equipment shop today, and started talking to a few of the employees on airsoft related things (duh). They were very nice and helpful, and we had a good chat. We then started talking about the UKARA registration requirements and importation of RIF. The guy told me that I'll have to play three games WITHIN two months to get registered, he then also said I can probably send the RIF I have from overseas without much trouble, given that I am just sending it to myself. I then went home and did some research on UKARA and VCRA. They clearly state that the three games must be played NOT UNDER two months and NOT OVER one year, and a person commits an offence if "he/she brings a realistic imitation firearm into Great Britain or causes one to be brought into Great Britain." I am wondering if a skirmish site could imply their own criteria for registering individuals as a member or regular skirmisher? Could someone please clear this up for me? Thanks!
  3. haha nice! Besides, swag over accuracy works best
  4. I agree. Why else would they say no to free advertisement?
  5. I know how you feel bro...I used to wear this type of mask, and it was impossible to aim.
  6. haha, more like translate! Hmmm funny that, cause it has always been 350ml in Hong Kong until a few years ago...
  7. Hello guys, I am not sure if you guys knew this, but a quick way to (roughly) test the energy of a gun is by shooting into a coke can. Using 0.2g bb pellets, hold the muzzle about half an inch away from the surface of the can, at right angle, holding the can in place: Shooting into the side, if the pellet penetrates only one side and remains in the can >1 joule If the pellet penetrates one side and tears (not a clean, round hole) through the other ~1.2 joules If the pellet penetrates both sides cleanly (nice round holes) ~1.4 joules Shooting into the bottom of the can, if the pellet penetrates the centre of the bottom ~1.6 joules If the pellet penetrates near the rim of the can ~1.8 joules This is the case with the older 350ml cans, but they only selling the slightly thinner 330ml cans now. Shouldn't make much of a difference, but please do bear this in mind! Convert the energy into fps or m/s using the kinetic energy equation we all loved from school - E=0.5*mass(kg)*speed(m/s)^2 350fps with 0.2g pellet is about 1.14 joules. I hope this helps. Stay safe! EDIT: the can must be empty first!
  8. Hello guys, Just thought I should contribute to this community. I found some useful information that I would like to share with all of you. Spring Comparison chart: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/SpringChart.php by Brian Wong aka ILLusion Barrel Length: http://www.uwants.com/viewthread.php?tid=2316678&extra=page%3D1%26amp%3Bfilter%3Ddigest by 豹仔 Edit: I have re-posted the joules test in the Guides section of the forum, please take a look!
  9. Hello guys, So I've heard some years ago that the mesh-type face/eye protection can be quite dangerous, as bb can shatter upon impact, and small pieces can go through the mesh and do some damage. This, apparently, is more likely to happen with the tougher, stronger interwoven type. I myself have never seen it happen, nor has it happened to me as I used to wear this type of face protection. My guess is that it's just a possible freak accident. What are your views on that?
  10. That looks brilliant! What about Bunker 51? Is it any good?
  11. What about white beret? It would be quite distinctive.
  12. Hello fellow airsoft comrades, My name is Jeff, and I'm new to UK airsoft. I've done a bit of airsofting in Hong Kong, and as you may know, it is very popular in Asia, but we call it wargaming over there. I never knew airsoft existed in the UK. I just thought you guys only do paintballing. Anyway, I currently reside and study in London, and am keen to start getting hit by little white ball bearings travelling at great speed. I have a crappy full metal Dboys M4 CQB, which my friend and I modified so its usable, and a Tokyo Marui P226 two tone, in Hong Kong. I really want to get my UKARA membership so I could ship these over. So I am wondering if there are any Londoners here who would be happy show me the local airsoft 'customs'. Thanks!
