  1. Unfortunately my brother and I bought one between us when we were first interested in airsoft (pre-first skirmish and UKARA) and it was such a waste. We got a rubbish two tone spring g36c, a rubbish two tone electric g36 that couldn't throw a bb in a consistently straight line anything over 20 meters, a load of rubbish bbs i wouldn't want to run through my good gun, and a spring pistol that i actually quite like as a gag weapon. To sum up the experience with 3 words: Don't. Just...don't.
  2. I've had similar before. Airsofting prepping in the safe zone at the start of the day when the paintball bunch walk past in their heavily faded generic camo jump suits, when one of them exclaims "oh shit...i hope we aren't playing against them!"
  3. If its brand new, it may be worth sending back to the seller to have it replaced on warrenty, unless you're competent in working on your own guns and don't mind potentially voiding any warranty if you start tinkering. My brother's m14 had a similar problem and if i remember rightly, they replaced the hop up unit to sort it.
  4. My team's patch. I use "team" to loosely describe 3 guys who turn up and pretend to know what they're doing.
  5. My local has pretty much abolished the bang rule because of all the faf with people being upset at people not accepting. They say if you want to give someone a chance with a bang you can, but they're not obliged to take it, so the only times i'll use it now is if the other person has their back to me.
  6. On either my first or second game, before i'd developed the habit of checking the fire selector on my gun (a hired m4), i decided to execute an awesome one-man-super-dooper-outflanking maneuver, and as the enemy pushed up the road with the vehicle, spent about 10/15 minutes making my way behind them. I'd just managed to get into the building they were regrouping outside of when i was spotted, so trained my sights on the door they'd be entering to get the drop on them. One creeps in, i pop out and get hit to the sound of "AWW FOR F*CKS SAKE...f*cking SAFETY!!". Needless to say, i spent the next few games constantly checking the selector every 12 seconds.
  7. I have the Snow Wolf M1A1 and use CYMA hicaps which hold around 250-300 rounds, and i believe are King Arms compatible so should also work with cybergun. I'm not sure where to source them in the UK, but i got mine from gunfire.pl for just under £10 each, plus delivery.
  8. I'll give you half credit for the reply and being half right I registered and logged in, but still wanted £90 just to deliver one shotgun. I went onto the bit where you select the shipping country, and though it was already set to GB, once i put the post code in it dropped to £10.
  9. I have a question regarding delivery costs... Do you have to register and/or log in for the actual quoted cost of €13.76 for GB delivery (zone 6) to be selected? I've just attempted to place an order to the value of £80, give or take (two shotguns, a silencer, silencer adapter and extra shells) and had the quoted UPS delivery cost as...wait for it... Not £13... ...not £30... ....not even £80... But £122 I took everything but the extra shells off and it still came to £80 :')
  10. I've bought 3 guns from Gunfire and my brother and friend have both bought guns from GF and TG and never had any problems. A CM031 (M14) my brother bought from GF had a faulty hop up unit straight from the box and they arranged and paid for a courier to collect and return it to poland. They were quite busy so it did take 2 or 3 weeks for the repair work to be done and it shipped over again, but they were decently quick to respond to emails and he got updates along the way. They also a pretty good grasp of the English language which helped massively.
  11. My new thompson is too small to bother transporting it in my rifle case, but too big to fit in the side pocket with my m14 in the main compartment, so i decided to knock up this alternative.
  12. As M_P said, they're V6 gearboxes
  13. I'm pleased to say the Thompson will be remaining completely standard aesthetically, so no tactical Thompson, and definitely no pulse rifle kit! Aside from them destroying the sanctity and purity of an M1A1, they are hideously expensive! A real wood kit is a possibility in future, but still seem rather expensive considering the gun was only £95
  14. This sweet thing arrived this morning. It's only a cheapo JG/Snow Wolf clone as a back up for my m14, but my god is it pretty!
  15. I bought some headset and PTT units from airsort world and customer service was abysmal when it came to trying to return them. I personally wouldn't use them again because of this, and can't imagine the nightmare of getting warranty work done by them if it was always that bad, but as people have stated, other customers couldn't be happier with them, and it's more likely those who have had a bad experience to shout about it.
  16. Thanks for the replies. Seems like polycarb is gonna be safer option, so i'll probably go with either a 2 or 3 mm sheet
  17. Evening folks, I've recently been considering making my old Czech M10 gas mask airsoft ready, which would mainly involve replacing the glass lenses with something bb-proof. My main idea was replacing them with acrylic plastic, so was wondering if anyone knows whether the plastic would hold up and not shatter, and what sort of thickness would be required to prevent impending blindness. I've scoured some other sites asking the same questions and some seem to say it would be fine, others that it wouldn't hold up. Alternatively, would 1mm polycarbonate be a more suitable option? Cheers
  18. Quick photo of my Cyma socom m14 whilst the sun is out. Very impressed with it to say it was £90 brand new with free delivery from Polskiland
  19. Yeah, we were both pretty content that a gun not firing is better than a gun making a grinding noise. He skirmished it yesterday and it held up just fine with no glitches at all, so good news all round.
  20. Just a quick update guys. I took it to a shop to be looked at (crafty's airsoft in Derby) and they opened it up to find the plugs to the motor had been soldered on by the previous owner, and one had come off, so was making, then losing contact with the motor intermitently. They replaced/refitted them properly and it seems to have done the trick, but we'll know for sure come game day sunday Thanks for all the suggestions, but Rock-climby-Dave was the winner on this one, so many man points to you, Sir.
  21. Thanks for the replies. We've posted in other places and the general consensus seems to be that it's either a break in a wire, loose connection, or something faulty/failing on the trigger. Never thought about the possibility of the lipo shorting...i'll be sure to pass on the warning to him(y). I'm half devent with a soldering iron, but have next to no idea what i'd be doing with it inside an airsoft gun, and we're not gonna even try fiddling with the motor, so we're gonna have somebody who actually knows what they're doing have a look at it next week, hopefully to get it sorted in time for its first skirmish on sunday...fingers crossed... .
  22. Hi all, posting this on behalf of my brother. He recently bought a G&P M4 (second hand), running on a 7.4v LiPo via a rear deans connecter, and is having trouble with intermittent firing. It fires for varying lengths of time before there is no response, sometimes getting through a several hundred rounds, sometimes only a handful before there is no trigger response. Moving the crane stock/disconnecting and reconnecting can sometimes sort the problem momentarily, but is only a very temporary fix. When it fails, there is absolutely nothing from the trigger; no clicking, no buzzing, no grinding or anything of the sort, but can restart without any warning either...simply one moment it will work fine, then the next it wont. Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be or any advice on how to fix it? Please bear in mind we are both pretty new to airsoft and have never opened a gun up before. Anyone with advice which leads to a fix will be greatly rewarded in the next life. Thanks
