  1. Yes, the hop up unit and/or bucking / and a new barrel should help.

The barrel quality is more important than length is.

Firstly make sure you're using quality BBs, preferred optimum weight should be 0.25s rather than 0.20s. It helps a lot.

Also doing regular general maintenance like cleaning the barrel will help improve range and accuracy so you may not actually need to invest in internal upgrades.

It is possible changing those parts will increase your velocity anyway, also whilst doing the maintenance reassembly / lubrication may result in a tighter airseal, thus increasing FPS.

If it's still not as high as you'd like simply installing another spring would do it.

The number of the spring (for example 100) refers to the velocity you should get in metres per second. If it turned out to be firing too hot with the new spring you can cut it down a coil or two to reduce power closer to desired level.

EDIT - Yeah I was gonna say a Prometheus, G&G Green or Tokyo Marui bucking. Good quality barrels Prometheus / PDI / Laylax I believe? Madbull is a common brand which is more affordable and should still yield decent results to make it a worthwhile upgrade. The former are a lot more expensive AFAIK (easily £60+)

  2. Could be higher demand / price of raw materials or they just think they can get away with charging more as in enough people will still buy them. I've always thought that though unless you specifically need a chest rig I'd rather buy the plate carrier, since there's not much difference in price between them.

  3. Can you narrow it down a bit more, like at all? At least to ones you just like the look of...or:

Since you already have an M4, do you want another AR platform? Should your new gun be able to use AR magazines? Do you want it for CQB, or woodland?

Would you plan to do a DMR set up, high ROF gun etc etc

Do you want a lot of external customisability? If so an M4 would be great but an AUG, SG55x and so on won't have that many options

TM Recoil rifles are ~ £415+

You could get a Tippmann M4 for £400 but would be £50 for the air tank, you should factor in the cost of batteries / ammo etc depending on the gun if you don't have any already.

There's also a loadout thread and gun picture thread for inspiration as well - and 'Places to Buy' for store recommendations.

In terms of making a gun more effective isn't always worth the time or necessary. For example, like the TM Recoils shouldn't need any upgrades -besides maybe a slightly higher power spring as they only shoot about 250 OOTB AFAIK- Just do general maintenance and use quality BBs, that is the easiest way to get good performance from any airsoft gun.

  4. Am I right in thinking WBB aren't even sold over here? And they're pretty expensive anyway. Get a 6.03. The closest correct length barrel should be sold as a 300mm or 267mm (usually 267mm is for used for 10.5" outer barrel M4s but in reality they're longer, closer to 300)

  5. Can't remember where I first found out about airsoft, although I think like most people the interest started with 'bb guns' cheap plinkers. Had a spring 1911 type thing, a GSG M9 which was actually quality, and a DE M56 at first.

Then found a GroupOn deal so we could hire for £20 / £25 rather than like £45 so had to give it a go, that was at the old F&O Hey Wood site near Huddersfield. Shame they don't do it there anymore afaik, was close and seemed like a very good site too.

  6. What about a stubby 4" RIS M4 like this? http://www.taiwangun.com/en/pj4-cqb-navy-p-j?from=listing&campaign-id=14

Similarly there's also the G&G Firehawk but I wouldn't get the newer model which is a full auto only one.

They're under £200, under weight requirement, are AR platform so will accept M4 magazines and A&K / G&G are TM style so plenty of manufacturers making replacement internal and external parts.

I know G&Gs will work with PTS PMAGs, not sure if you mean EMAGs / EPMs? Can't think if PTS has made any non-Magpul magazines yet or not. Don't know about the A&K (P&J)

Can of course have a sling plate on the buffer tube (e.g. a Magpul clone ASAP is £4 off Ali Express)

  7. Very true you are completely right there Duck.

I do hate it when everyone leaves just negative comments about the guns and need to stop doing that myself. Isn't going to give a good impression especially as airsoft is supposed to be so inclusive and welcoming, and criticising his choices won't do owt but make em think we're all elitist dickheads

  8. Oh...I see all your guns are from JBBG

tbh with what you've spent on all those shit ones you could have saved and got something at least decently skirmishable

But anyway I didn't even know there were 7.4V NiMh batteries? I'm assuming they're not gonna include a LiPo in with it.

If you upgrade the battery to a 7.4V LiPo the gun probably won't be able to handle it because I think the gearbox will be all plastic.

So you will be running at potentially too high ROF / voltage for stock internals. Might strip the gears / piston? But idk much about internals in that respect. Changing to a LiPo would need another charger as well so around ~ £15+

And speaking of which you won't be able to upgrade it because LPEGs are not made to be compatible with normal airsoft bits.

Try to find another 7.4V NiMh if anything...batteries that come included with guns are always bad quality anyway no matter what the brand

In terms of tightening the buffer tube should just be screwing the castle nut tight again? Or take it off put it back on to make sure it's in right sort of thing. I guess you do mean the buffer tube and not the stock itself which is wobbly?

  9. Once I start airsofting more I think it will be my local site, that or Alpha One near Wakefield.

I was gonna buy some comms but pretty unnecessary spend unless you are in a team, otherwise I don't think anyone else will use em and it won't be worth it. Especially if you don't have radios already and gotta go buy them too you're looking at like £70 for walkie-talkies + headset + PTT unit (at least ~$40 from somewhere like AirsoftPeak or other China / HK retailers)

  10. What Spoon and Estorick said. Heroshark makes the best quality mesh stuff and to fit to your face as well. He used to have a website but I think it's just through FB now. As far as I know he's still doin it.

I've had problems with lower face mesh masks though, not being able to use them properly with ballistic goggles or glasses.

Did see Heroshark make some minimalist lower face pro which looks like you could use more easily with em.

I have surplus ESS glasses and tried a shemagh to protect my teeth but firstly it liked to fall off (as in slip down) my face and also steam the glasses up like fuck. Could try a scrim net scarf instead.
