They're both way too short. You need a standard 14.5" barrel for an M4.

    good to know that!

Before you do anything you should take yours apart and fully examine how it works.  Look at what the outer barrel head (the part that fits into the upper receiver) looks like and above all measure the lengths you need.

You said you can't measure the outer barrel, even though it's broken?  Surely you can just measure the 2 halves?

    I got it broken, hahahaha

the person who was using it decided to use it as f... walking stick, put the barrel between rocks and forgot, then pulled out without paying attention and broke the tip of the inner and outer barrel together...

Is there a specific reason you need to change the outer barrel, or is it just for aesthetic preference?

isn't it there where we attach silencers/tracer units?

According to the link you'll need a 363mm inner barrel.

As for the outer barrel, iirc they're all the same length (assuming you want to keep the standard M4 look). The 14mm ccw stated in the link is the thread for the flash hider.

The only issue you might have is how the outer barrel connects to the upper receiver as some are different to others

    Hmmm...

Thanks for that... I will have that in mind. So is it correct to say that with the rails being shorter that the outer barrel will be more exposed than one with a longer rail?

And by how the outer barrel connects, do you mean the thread OR literally how it fits on the gun?

Would a https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/5ku-7-aluminium-outer-barrel-for-m4-ar-15-aeg be a good fit (except for the part where you say you don't know how it connects)

    Or this one... https://www.landwarriorairsoft.com/product/laylax-first-factory-carbon-outer-barrel-7-inch-213400

It says it fits a standard M4

  3. I've got a VALKEN BATLLE MACHINE TCC series which requires a new inner barrel and outer barrel. (I'd enjoy this opportunity to buy something better than stock for inner barrel and hop up).

However due to different sizes and not being able to all description for the gun I'm unsure what size exactly I need to buy. I could only find out on this website: https://www.airsoftgi.com/product/Valken-Battle-Machine-TTC-M4-Carbine-AEG-Airsoft-Rifle-Tan-21971/ that it is 14mm but I'm unsure on the length and because is broken I can no longer measure the real one.

Any tips or help on what I need to get?

  4. Hello all!

I have recently acquired a G&G M4 30th Anniversary from a friend and after many faffing around with the gearbox (as it was just not working) I have decided to buy another one so I bought a v2 from CYMA which included a motor.

I've set it up today and was trying to find what would be the best height for the motor and it just stopped working. I've tried to put the height all the way down, to open bring it out and in again but it didn't work. It doesn't seemed that it's jammed as I can push the spring easily and also push the piston in and it will pop back as normal.

There is energy going through from a 9.6v 1600mah battery as it heats up the cables and the battery as well.(To which I am slightly concerned about but maybe to the fact that the motor is not running might be normal). Before taking to a professional place so they can take a look I was wondering if there's anything I can do myself? There's no mosfet.

    Hello, everyone!

9 months ago moved to UK. I'm 38, 17 years of airsoft experience (was captain of a team for 12 years), car, own kit (+UKARA), can repair/upgrade AEGs. Looking for a friendly team, preferably, Northern London.

My priorities: friendship, mil-sim, trainings, night games, big/long/complicated games.

    Good luck to all!

    Denis

    Nice one bro!

Where are you from? (as in where you came from to uk)

I'm in west london but perhaps we could meet at least once a month and play together somewhere

Yeah, parts of the site are great, other parts are challenging like you say.

But the marshals used to be awful. A bunch of kids who really didn't give a shit at all.

Like I said, I've heard it's better now though.

They do seem to be “strict” enough to me… some people are even being told off today haha

so i think it did change

  7. Well, I only played there once and going for the second time now... It was great, lots of marshalls, food included in the price and etc... very difficult terrain though but it makes it fun I guess...

Not played there in years. How is it there now, I heard it got better?

I'm actually gone be moving to London soon too, East Croydon to be exact and then I will be on the same boat as you trying to find sites to play. Luckily I have gear and rifles :D

there is some around that area, Surrey...  when you move we could all meet and play together

    I am in West Drayton

Probably the worst person to answer this as I spend ridiculous money on rifs. Maybe a specna arms m4 for another 20-30 quid might be better?

Yeah, shouldnt be a problem... I shall take a look at the discussion about equipment and etc...

A very noobie question... why there is such a difference in price? What makes the difference so the price goes up? (apart from brand)

Just that you'll probably regret it a bit at the point where you do a dodgy paintjob, or try to sell it on and find that there's a limited market for them.

There's nothing inherently wrong with buying a two-tone if you really don't want to wait. I did it, and many other people have. It's a fixable situation.

And a scope protector.  Glass acts like a magnet for plastic BBs.

And batteries. Typically 7.4V lipo unless you've got a specific reason to get something else, and I like to run a pair of them in the 1200-1400 mAh range (at least) and change over at lunch.

Cheap chargers are a false economy. They are, no joke, fire hazards.  Something like a SkyRC S65 is the typical recommendation.

Ah, cool... I might go for a two tone in the beginning and if I think I need to paint then I know who/where to go to do it for me... but if I feel I need to disguise it I can always try to do a ghillie suit for the gun hahahaha

I am right over the other side of London, almost in Kent.

Ambush Airsoft in Cobham is still open.

Before buying your first rifle, play your three games at the same site in not less than 56 days and get your UKARA registration, so that you don't have to buy a two toned gun.  Try to get your hands on as many guns as you can to see what suits you and what you like; as others have said, most airsofters are more than happy to bore you to death with information about their guns.

If you want to make a safe first purchase, the Specna and Double Eagle M4 style guns are decent.

do you go to bunker 51 or do you use any other option? I will be ok to go there and maybe even drag my brother into it 😂

  12. Lots and lots of tips.. thank you very much guys!

One question... when you say not to buy two toned guns is just because of the colours or there is something else?

I shall start looking at High Wycombe Skirmishes then with Cobham, UCAP and Bunker 51 as other options too. Good to know all that!

    And so far we have

    hat

    eye pro

    something to cover the mouth

    gloves

rifle with extra mags and potentially a scope

    charger and bb's

    f... me hahahaha

    Welcome to the money pit!

Rent a gun and kit first to get a feel for the hobby and make sure you want to invest in it.  Make sure you have good boots that give ankle support and wear clothing that you don't mind getting wet and filthy.

Where in London are you based?

i am in West Drayton (close to heathrow)

are you in london as well?

    Amazing tips, guys! Thank you!

is that one in cobham, surrey still open? Ive messaged them but no reply so far…

anything in particular that I should look for when buying my first pistol/rifle?

  14. Hello everyone!

I hope you are doing well! I am finally decided to start this new hobby after many years wondering...

Where do I start? Do I buy a gun straight away or do I play first? Also, is there any teams or regular airsoft plays in/around London I could join?

Is there small competitions and things like that?

Not sure yet if I should buy an aeg Pistol or Rifle and what would be the ''minimum'' required for the first ''battle''...

    Thanks in advance!
