  1. I found this video on Youtube when my dot sight started doing the same thing (barely works at all now!), but it's only useful if you can access that part of the sight.  Mine has an AA compartment with no access that I can figure out.

Maybe calls for a little possibly-destructive playing about I guess as I'm getting new sights anyway.  The dodgy one is from Nuprol (yes I know now, that's why I started a thread looking for buying advice).

  2. Man that AUG looks sweet but I'm going off the idea of an EOTECH on my A2, think it might be a bit too chunky on that top rail (it's all about the looks right?).  And yeah the rail sits a good inch off the top of the rifle already so in terms of profile I'm pushing it a bit.  Anything on a riser is way out!

I think even the magnifier might be too tall though I think I've seen some lower versions, not sure I want to go down the canted sight route.  I'm gonna look into some of the suggestions here and handle the rif a bit to see what might work. Drifting towards Aimpoint style I think.

Thanks for the brand suggestions and great advice.  I'll let you know what I figure out when I get a minute to check things out.

  3. Hey guys, hoping you can help with a little advice.  I want to get a decent red dot/holo sight for my AUG but not too sure what to go for.

    Requirements -

    • I need something low profile so the market's wide open (sitting atop my AUG A2 rail).
    • I'd like something that will be sufficient if I add a magnifier (flip) later on.
    • If there's a good sight/flip magnifier recommendation I'd totally appreciate it as I might just get both depending on price.
    • Prioritising a decent sight though, sub £100.

Are there any brands to avoid?  Any especially reliable brands in the lower price bracket?

  4. Thanks @Pijon!  I've swapped the scope out for a red dot which suits it far more.  Unfortunately the fabric tape has started to peel after just one skirmish so I'll have to figure out something for that.  The flecktarn duct tape may hold better but doesn't look quite so nice.  Also not sure about the foregrip, think I'll swap that out too.

I may find a picatinny extension that slots onto the barrel mount and goes further back to be more like the piece in your original post, then put a new folding handle on maybe.  Good luck getting a 3d print, let us see what you end up with!

  5. That's super clean, I like it.  It's definitely a benefit having the foregrip placed further back (not that you had much choice with the short barrel!).  I'm gonna try a vert grip for my next skirmish day as wasn't really getting on with the angled one too much.

  6. Another option that I found in my own research is this one -

    https://3d-crafts.com/product/airsoft-aug-front-double-side-rail/

I haven't ordered from that site myself though so don't know how good it is.  It looks neat though.

If you wanna go fancy, and I was super tempted...then Corvus Defensio will deliver to UK and they make this beauty (comes in Keymod variant too) -

I may end up getting it some time in the future but I went for this solution for now.  Awesome price and delivery and it actually looks pretty good, I think -

It's not a great pic ()taken off the long scope and re-did some tape) but it shows the barrel mounted rail with fore-grip attached.

I'm thinking about getting something like this commissioned https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/airsoft-steyr-aug-m-lok-handguard.  Its a copy of the awesome Clawgear handguard which I think is basically a Unicorn at the moment, even in the real steel world.  But I'm waiting for somebody to get back to me regarding a custom handguard.

EDIT - Just noticed ANT is all out of the Quad barrel-mounted rails but still have the twin or single.

  7. Alright guys,

I just wanted to stick a quick note of appreciation in here for military1st.co.uk.

They've got a good selection of gear at reasonable prices.  Well, the Condor gear I was looking into was far cheaper than Amazon at least.  I did see some stuff cheaper on sites like Bullseye CountrySport but I guess there'll always be variability on brands and such.

But main thing I wanted to mention is that I live in Scottish Highlands and paid no shipping fees.  That's a pretty big deal up here so I will definitely be shopping there again.  Stuff arrived pretty quickly too, shipped via DPD I think but they always hand it off to somebody else.  I guess one doesn't simply DPD into Mordor.

I'm not affiliated in any way.

  8. Well, I think I may have settled on the HK45 by TM.

I do love the aesthetic of the USPc and was tempted to go for it to replace my old one, but it seems the non-compact version performs a little better out-of-box.  And if I'm going non-compact then I might as well go for HK45 which looks better and appears to better parts availability/options.

Thanks for all the words of advice guys.

  9. I'm happy to spend a little extra on TM to be honest.  the 100 was really just a baseline.  Just don't want to creep up into the 200 area.

I'm kinda tempted to go for their USP.  My current (broken) USPc is still a lovely looking pistol and not one I've seen around much.  I'm guessing I'll have more luck going for a TM in terms of long-term maintenance.
