Welp, against my better(?) judgement I've gone ahead and ordered my first AEG in roughly half a decade. Also my first ever Taiwangun and Gunfire orders, so intrigued to see what that experience is like. That's the base gun, mags and external parts on the way for my 'heretical' AK. Let the hunt for tech to make it sing commence... because it certainly won't be me!
Sidenote, any advice in terms of batteries which fit in battery space of a CM045a would be appreciated. I'm planning on running 11.1's in it once it's had the things installed to make that safe/not at risk of making it die. It's weirdly refreshing to feel like a total noob again.

Of course you ask that question and i immediately forget what length the pdi in my aksu was. I wanna say 250 but honestly cant remember.
It did finish up right at the muzzle nut so was fine for different muzzle devices (although i was running a huge can because hpa+can=silence)
Internals wise changing little is a good move. The base cyma internals arent too shabby although air seal might need a little tlc and a fresh hop rubber to lift some proper weight ammo.

Haha, always the way! I won't lie, it's weird having to be even remotely specific with barrel length. I'm much the same where it's largely HPA with a can so if the barrel over runs the outer a bit it's not an issue.
I'm curious to see how long it takes before this ends up with an F2 in it... or gets kicked to the curb to be replaced by a GHK. But I convinced myself going for the more budget option of cladding an AK in Zenitco was likely the right call, at least to begin with. This one is very much a fashion over function (though I'll happily take both). In all my years I've never used an AK, so jumping in at the deepest of deep ends to start with seemed ill advised. -
I think a Perun V3 or an optical unit of some sort (titan v3 or the new aster v3) would definitely fix the semi auto lockups.
As far as batteries, my E&L can only take batteries that are less than 17mm in diametre if I want to fit them inside the gas tube.
If you go for a warfet, I recommend routing it through the front, into the front trunnion so that you keep the whole top cover dedicated to batteries. I didn't and I'm stuck to 7.4s (my 11.1s are too chubby to fit in the gas tube).
