This video with subtitles ( translated ) give you some ideas of what to expect. G&P does generally quality products for the MWS but I'd still wait another 2-3 months to hear more opinions.

I just received my pair of dummy anti-rotation pins from Aliexpress... I am starting to get second thoughts about installing them since I read this post. What abuse has the system taken from them? Purely cosmetic? or was it the uncaring method of appliance from the previous owner that is to blame?

@SkyNex0 Ah another swede, welcome to the club / addiction ! ( funny Nybro of all places, my father is from there ). Regarding the nub, yes, try first 0.28 with the standard nub and you can always mod it by filling the rubber ring with something solid ( piece of metal rod or similar ). Second, GBBRs run a bit differently from the little fortune of replicas you already have. The MWS is weather dependent like ajumma says and you might have to chrono and check how yours run in the different seasons. For reference, mine more or less stock was able to go CQBR during the colder seasons of the year ( yes, Sweden ). I'd highly suggest you to take the time and scan through this 160 page document as it contains a lot of useful information. I think there is also a google doc which sums up the "essentials" ( which should be pinned ), it appeared not too long ago. But I'd recommend the long tour to see how the discussion has varied and to also get some inspiration. There are some pretty interesting builds along the way. As for buying parts, these stores have the biggest assortment for the MWS: Hong kong: RedWolf ( Slightly cheaper, price match, best shipment costs but mostly sold out / few items in stock ) Rainbow8 ( Overall good price, o.k shipment and good stock ) J.K Army ( Slightly more expensive, nisch items that others don't have, annoyingly high shipment costs and customer service which leaves much to be wished for ) Europe: Firesupport Emperion

On the horizon: ... And. Another PMAG that works! https://shop.jkarmy.com/g-p-g-mag-long-ver-for-marui-tm-mws-gbbr-system-black-magazine-p-mag-style.html Looking forward to see your URGIs with this 40 rnd arm rest!

I have been interested in this item for a long time. Actually, I bought it twice from JK Army but was refunded as it was no longer in stock. Maybe a sign... @Davegolf true, I haven’t really decided what the platform is for me. I think just need to play more and tinker less. But I enjoy having a scope on the MWS as the accuracy and range is superb. It’s just a tad cumbersome and I’m slower with it than with the dot. The lamp is something I might ditch altogether though, as it feels very field specific or more like a real firearms utility.

@Whereismyhammer I can only think of poor BB quality Edit. try other bbs and make sure there is no junk or debris in the magazine which blocks or hinders the feeding of bbs.
-
just ordered 2 in black with a more simple design. I’m planning to use them on my 20 rounders to make them look like short pmags. I’ll also be taking off the “ranger plate” and cut a hole for gas filling.
-
I think you are right. An initial idea was to expand the BB channel from the TM mag with a curved extension of it within the drum. But I fear that the MWS follower is to big to make it through a curved channel without getting stuck.

Update on my SAA mags. Stopped all leaks with silicon grease. The magazine that had its threads shredded from overtightened screws have now been glued together. I took out the long screw that usually holds together the whole halves and glued them together using steel epoxy. The ports where this screw has its fastening points were blocked using the same method + a screen that hugs into the soft aluminum. Epoxy and friction is what holds it together. I got inspired by @rocketdogbert and his drum mags. The mag is now a tad lighter as well Next project will be a D60 drum mag. The base will be a green gas modded TM 35 rounder which will be put into the body of the battleaxe d60 aeg drum ( Taiwangun for 25 euro ). I haven’t decided yet wether I’ll make it into a flash mag from salavaging the parts of a Cyma RPK hicap magazine off the same site or try to use the electric engine already found in the drum. Weight is expected to be around 750 g and shot count around 150. Costs around 80 euros minus shipment costs. Just wish it could somehow be modded to active the bolt catch when empty ....

Yeah, I feared that. The bolt lock is the charm of the platform. A smarter although costly solution would have been a new lower. Or at least no precision milling at home... Im enticed by the light weight mags and increased mag capacity. But the limited nozzles is the next problem. Do you think one can order spares from prowin? Or is two of them enough?
-
Same here. I use a teal bucking paired with the stock nub which was stabilized by placing a metal rod inside. But I’ll try the Sixgun nub with a modify tan for the coming season as I have heard this is a tad better.

Lovely, let us know how it worked out !

Someone asked about the mod for the short magazines as well a while back, however, no answer so far... I guess I’ll be the first to try out both. I had a long day trying to redeem the sneaky leak from my SAA mags. A word of warning: the aluminum or should I say the threads are very fragile. Actually, the whole construction reminds me of my IKEA furniture whereas it holds up together in its initial build but will be nothing but bits once taken apart. One mag is already beyond repair. Apply PTFE and tighten just until you feel slight resistance. I tightened a bit extra in my despair with the leaks, now a trophy of failure.

Any reviews / thoughts on the prowin ar9 kit?
-
yes, they are not 100% tight out of the box. You’ll need to tighten and lube all screws + valves to get them working as intended. A bit of gas seal tape was needed on the screws on my mags that hold together the upper and lower body. I know all this sounds like hard work but the tolerances on the A1A mags are much more friendly for disassembly in comparison to the OGs. This makes the whole process a piece of cake.

I have this daydream which I guess needs to be crushed. It’s of an injection moulded magazine for the MWS just like the polymer glock magazine from WE Tech. Lightweight and with the same reliance as the original. how does one proceed with such an idea? Has reversed engineering come so far that you could 3D scan the outer shell of the Marui mag and make a mould for polymer? Alternatively 3D print polymer with heat sunk thread inserts for the valves? ...the whole affair sounds terribly costly but I can’t stop thinking about having these lightweight IPSC mags for the MWS.

This has more or less the same sound. Different rifle but G&P parts. ( same camera though haha. I.e same juju ) haha, I have seen his videos a few times. The shooting stance always puzzled me. But back to topic. I don’t think the buffer is needed as the standard is plastic and doesn’t give off any particular sound ( I have tried both aluminum and plastic buffers without hearing any major difference ). The Sixgun buffer ring reduced the spring sound for me but the metallic chiming from the bolt rollers in the videos provided is what I’d like to get. I guess I’ll have to take the leap and order one + maybe drill some flute holes in the buffer tube like the mysterious G&P version...
-
I’m with you there. But if I could just make mine sound half as good as this one: I’d melt every time I push the trigger. ( minus the radio and workshop sounds )
-
@AlphaBear could you tell me whether the brass rollers of the G&P bolt alters the sound or not? There are some videos of recent G&P rifles that produces a ridiculously satisfying sound. A crisp, high pitch metallic hiss. I hope it’s only the bolt end and not some dark magic I have missed or can’t acquire...
-
It is supposed to give a smoother operation of the bolt and seem to work as intended. Look at my previous post about their complete kit for the MWS. The sound is incredible. Yet ... the holes are mysterious to me... crossing my fingers. Thanks for sharing!
-
Hey, did anyone try the G&P roller bolt end? It’s quite expensive for a wheeled bolt end ... but all rifles with it give off such a satisfying sound. Also - G&P has a buffertube with the selling point of holes for exhausting air / gases. Could someone explain to me how this would be beneficial or whether it’s just a gimmick?
-
I had the same problem. Sneaky leaks. Greased all o-rings. Still leaky. Found this screw and lubed it - so far all fine. how was it to reassemble the upper and lower part? Looks like a pain
