@RMDavis The patina turned out great but I’d like to see some last ingredient to create a bit of contrast. Why not try some numbers with a marker or a bit of tape somewhere?

Thanks, I have so far only used silicon oil of different densities with good result. Grease for leaks, thick oil for trigger unit and spray for bcg + o-rings. I remember using lithium grease for the trigger mechanism in a KC02 several years back but I got allergic reactions from it. I'll try the TechT and the gun oil and see how that is. Maybe some disposable gloves as well...

@Wild Weasel It's really hard to give a true verdict with the lockdown and all as I have only shot it a few times in my studio to test a mag. But the sheer manipulation of the rifle, charging and clearing it is much more responsive. The brass rollers are a bit worrisome to me. Only time will tell if they are made of a good metal or not. Anyway, the best thing is the sound especially with the UAC or Gunsmodify alu BCG and the rounded buffertube edge. Crisp! Ah, I watched some videos on HPA rifles yesterday, a brief detour from MWS territory and stumbled upon the TechT Gunsav. Dave, can you brief me on where this is to be used? Could I lube mags with them? I have recently used silicon grease with good results but I have heard that residues can make it to the hop whereas the Gunsav supposedly stays put. P.S I guess that the parker gun oil is for the trigger unit?

@Wild Weasel Not to disappoint you but my consensus is to avoid all Angry Gun products as for now. There have just been so many problems reported in this thread over the years that some way or another cooked down to blaming a new Angry Gun part. Anyway, lets see if we can get that rifle up and running. I'd carefully file and round the inner edges of the buffertube to pose less friction as the BCG moves through. That is what I have done. I also invested in the bcg roller end but that was mostly for the satisfying sound. Hope that helps.

@gunbod007 Disassemble the magazines and lube with silicon oil + grease. 30 min job and you'll have leak-free mags! ( bit worrisome to hear of new yet leaky MWS mags, never experienced that before. )

@GothicGhost I do believe that you can get away with an AEG repro of this handguard and fitting it with the existing front sight rather than having to go to the tantrum of changing gas block. Someone showed pics of a similar build in the TM MWS / NGRS group on FB. Hey I wanted to ask, How’s the fitting of the OG stocks on the OG buffer? ( I only have a second hand MWS with an AEG repro, which is satisfying but not dead on) I’d like to know if it’s worth tracking down the sopmod stock from TM or if I should save the cash and buy an AEG version.

Can someone who owns / owned the Prowin 50rnd mags explain to me why they are not the rage? Lightweight and high capacity ( expensive yes... ) but do they work as advertised? Safe to buy? Edit. I can read that people dislike them, but what is the problem with them? Something fixable?
-
@MiniLuxy yeah, completely normal! don’t look too much on it. Im actually in favor of the new folding stock option as it shows that the platform is being developed upon and that we might be seeing more goodies across the year. The MWS is slowly taking a position in customizability close to hicapas and g17. It might become one of those legendary platforms. Anyway I I think the platform is compact enough for transport ( if you separate upper and lower ) to actually be needing of the folding stock. But I could see it being a clear choice for certain builds / impressions. Let’s just hope it works and operates as advertised for those biting in to the rather hefty price... P.S what’s the best route for acquiring a second upper? Do people buy parts from Impulse? Or do you get a second MWS?

Hey, I just wanted to report that I managed to get the SAA mags leak free by merging the two halfs with steel araldite. The o ring was removed, contact surfaces roughened and the rod removed. The side body screw which holds the rod was set in place with araldite. Whereas the bottom threads were blocked with a cross threaded screw + araldite. All contact surfaces were oil free and treated with spirits before the araldite treatment. The mag in question was filled with gas sometime in November 2020 and has had no leaks since. A bit of a job to get it done but nevertheless, might be worth the effort or a fitting lockdown activity to some.

Did someone ever cut down the magazine follower “tail” to make room for more bbs? Or make a hole in the magazine base so the “tail” can protrude. What could one gain from that? 7-10 rounds? Edit. Never mind, realized that the spring takes up space compressed which equals that of the “tail”. Thus no possibility to increase the round count by modding.

The new pmag will be a lightweight of around 373g and cost roughly the same as the regular magazines. ( I can already see all those SAA pmags entering the sales corner ) — — — P.S the screws for the bottom plate of the OG mags are standard M2 threading right? P.S the screws for the bottom plate of the OG mags are standard M2 threading right?

@Wild Weasel Wow, I love the support and endless innovation surrounding this platform

They seem to be doing a superb job at HAO, at least from the pictures I have seen. And to be fair, buying something that works, having the right tolerances and looks the part - is far from regular in airsoft. I can just not legitimise the price for it though, or should I say, I'd buy a GBLS for that money. Also, I think HAO could be a fun place to work at on a zero hour contract. Measure RS equipment and sometimes from images lay out CAD sketches and run the CNC to a finished product. Small batches and semi creative... Hey... I just logged in to ask: Did someone green gas mod a SAA 35 pmag? Do you think it would be safe with the split construction? D60 project is moving...

Totally true, I also got the same positive answer after having emailed them! "If Marui has this part in stock we should receive it in the coming few days as we have placed an order last week. Please register to the restock alert on the product page! Best regards Impulse101"
-
How often do they restock at Impulse 101? Every quarter? Probably even slower with the ongoing pandemic but I never see the parts for a second upper in stock.

Someone with a spare upper or receiver parts they want to get rid off? The lockdown brought ideas for a new build

I see, I’m just used to the TM Detonics where certain parts were made more weighty than needed to give a hefty feel to the replica ( there were even two pot metal weights in the grip ). I thought that there might be some parts on the MWSs receiver that were made with the same unnecessary heavy metals which could be replaced as I have done all I can think of to reduce weight so far. I have now: # lightweight bolt # 3D printed barrel # aluminum barrel nut # mlok aluminum handguard # aluminum charging handle The build brings me a smile every time I pick it up. But the weight watcher subscription is still on and I thought I could save 200-300g by changing trigger box or receiver to a lighter aluminum. It’s all a bit of a game for me inspired by the AR15 forums and clips in my YouTube algorithm.. I thought some parts like these would bring me further. https://www.rainbow8.com/products/gunsmodify-aluminium-cnc-trigger-box-for-marui-mws-m4-gbbr?_pos=17&_sid=8b319b9ce&_ss=r https://www.redwolfairsoft.com/guns-modify-aluminum-cnc-receiver-set-for-tokyo-marui-m4-mws-gbbr-aero-style-marking.html “exceptionally lightweight” maybe just a sales pitch? I might have reached the limit before one needs to skeletonize the receiver, which is not the look I want go for. — — — Kinda dig it! here is a cheaper version of it for the one on a budget: https://www.taiwangun.com/stock/slim-ar15-m4-pdw-stock-black-bd-2?from=listing&campaign-id=19 Also somewhat new producer of MWS parts called Revanchist. Any verdict so far? Are their parts any good? They did a 45 deg selector which could be the next thing for all of us semi-onlys https://shop.jkarmy.com/revanchist-ambi-selector-45-deg-for-marui-m4-mws-black.html still impressed by all the incredible improvements being added to this platform in the middle of a pandemic

Just one thought around MWS vs HPA rifles. Before I found this forum and had bought my second hand MWS, I had just sold my KC02 and was on the lookout for a new primary. I was browsing and testing different HPA and AEG systems but always came to the same conclusion: my gun, my secondary will always run on gas so why not have the primary rifle in the same system for ease of maintenance and logistics. This has held up until this date. Sure, I’m teased to leave the MWS for a kythera with a c02 stock or the reputable DAS GBLS. Especially for the lighter magazines and greater shot capacity without suffering too much realism. But I always fall back on the thought of having primary and secondary ( not to mention my tornado grenades ) in the same system, operated by green gas. And to be fair, these others systems if they fail in field you’ll most likely need a significant reparation not suited for the field which leaves you in the need of a backup rifle. The MWS has a wonderful trick up its sleeve, the part that is most likely to fail is the nozzle spring housed in the BCG. Carrying an extra BCG is for me like having a backup rifle. Anyway, I logged in to check with you guys whether the receiver, trigger box and buffer tube are worth switching out to a version in aluminum if I want to save weight? What’s the material of the OGs? Would the weight saving be significant or negligible?

I have been running ASG blaster 0.32s with no problems. But I play semi only and don’t shoot too much. It’s my favorite bio bb after Geoffs

Looking forward to see some pics!

I see, well, my MWS is in for a similar journey although with more care... The beauty is in the beholder of they eye. I truly distaste all these FURGI-builds that have started to pop up lately, however, adore the look of the civilian AR and minor details such as anti rotation pins haha. I hope you got a good price for the MWS and I'd recommend an epoxy with steel fibers for the filling of the cavities. It will be an easy job, never the less, good luck!
-
This video with subtitles ( translated ) give you some ideas of what to expect. G&P does generally quality products for the MWS but I'd still wait another 2-3 months to hear more opinions.
-
I just received my pair of dummy anti-rotation pins from Aliexpress... I am starting to get second thoughts about installing them since I read this post. What abuse has the system taken from them? Purely cosmetic? or was it the uncaring method of appliance from the previous owner that is to blame?

@SkyNex0 Ah another swede, welcome to the club / addiction ! ( funny Nybro of all places, my father is from there ). Regarding the nub, yes, try first 0.28 with the standard nub and you can always mod it by filling the rubber ring with something solid ( piece of metal rod or similar ). Second, GBBRs run a bit differently from the little fortune of replicas you already have. The MWS is weather dependent like ajumma says and you might have to chrono and check how yours run in the different seasons. For reference, mine more or less stock was able to go CQBR during the colder seasons of the year ( yes, Sweden ). I'd highly suggest you to take the time and scan through this 160 page document as it contains a lot of useful information. I think there is also a google doc which sums up the "essentials" ( which should be pinned ), it appeared not too long ago. But I'd recommend the long tour to see how the discussion has varied and to also get some inspiration. There are some pretty interesting builds along the way. As for buying parts, these stores have the biggest assortment for the MWS: Hong kong: RedWolf ( Slightly cheaper, price match, best shipment costs but mostly sold out / few items in stock ) Rainbow8 ( Overall good price, o.k shipment and good stock ) J.K Army ( Slightly more expensive, nisch items that others don't have, annoyingly high shipment costs and customer service which leaves much to be wished for ) Europe: Firesupport Emperion
