Spring VSR is chronoing at between 2.33 and 2.35J with .45s, putting it between 0.01 and 0.03J over the limit. The spring won't compress any more and I plan on using .48s when lockdown ends, which will creep the power a bit more. I'm so close, yet so far from my goal of having it as close to, but under, 2.32J

@Skara Probably me, I use a mountain bike headset press I bought on eBay for £7.
The problem is, compressing and leaving compressed doesn't do as much as constantly compressing and releasing. The old trick of leaving the gun cocked just strains the sears.

Not you mate but yeah, a headset press will do the job too

@SteveoceeHop up isn't set, but that will have to wait until my local site re-opens, as I live in a city and don't want a visit from the local police (who are just down the road!). Spring isn't new though, it's a 130sp Laylax that I've had for a long time and used a lot. I'll probably just wait until then, take both it and my HPA VSR along so I at least have a gun to use for the day, set the hop and then chrono (HPA I can just put at whatever power I want, after all...)
@sonofsammoYeah, .43s would work as the joules I need to lose are tiny, but I want to use .48s, so that's my goal. My HPA VSR setup uses .48s, after all.
@SkaraYeah, I only ever chrono on joules because I know that my rifle will easily beat the old 500fps on .2s, which I will never use considering even my 1J guns use .32s xD - Show next comments 3 more
