    THE TM MWS thread

Cheers chaps, appreciated. This thread is one of the best on the site.

    THE TM MWS thread

I'm currently playing up different options when it comes to the next pew, but I keep coming back to either an NGRS or an MWS. The MWS keeps winning the argument in my head. Two questions though, and I appreciate one is harder than the other. - With TM having recently done an URGI NGRS, do we think they'll do an URGI GBBR? How long was there between the NGRS MK18 and the MK18 GBBR? I appreciate I may be better off trying to read tea leaves to try and guess what's next from TM. - What's the best starting point for a 10.3" (ish) URGI build if I just wanted to work towards that from the existing platforms?
  3. I want to make those purchases after my first RIFs, now I know what I like, what I want etc. First up is a TM 226 E2. I like my TM Hi-Capa but I just want something a bit different. I know by no stretch of the imagination is a 226 uncommon, but amongst the sea of Glocks and Hi-Capa’s, I just have a thing for the SIG. Next is something to improve upon my Raider 2.0. I want something different to the swathe of M4’s, and AK’s just don’t tickle my fancy. I want something realistic trade wise, with great out the box performance. I’m edging towards a Scorpion Evo, probably one of the carbines, but the TM Scar L CQC keeps grabbing my attention too. TL:DR - Swap my Hi-Capa for a 226 and upgrade from a Raider to something sexier.
  4. In my short time playing, I’ve only ever played, knowingly anyway, with one serving member of the forces. I happened to be attending a game on my own for once, and he was alone too, so we ended up playing together for the session and I have to say, it was one of the best afternoon plays I’ve had. Fundamentally it was different to how I normally play, and basically pushed me outside my normal “I’m a pussy” comfort zone. I was far more aggressive than normal, egged on by the novelty of his training and little nuances. Taught me a lot; nothing tactical or anything like that, but more about grabbing the bull by the horns and not being such a wet flannel.
  5. As much as I avoid his videos, and I do get the “don’t like, don’t watch” argument, but have you seen his comments? I’m no liberal “won’t someone think of the children” snowflake, but he and his like are genuinely bad for airsoft. They portray unrealistic expectations, poor gamesmanship and encourage really bad attitudes and mindsets. Sure some exposure for the pastime is good, but it’s a really bad introduction for a lot of kids and newbies that are really starting out on the wrong foot.
  6. Won’t make a blind bit of difference what you turn up in IMO. My local is a kill-house style clusterfuck and you have everything from milsim load outs, trackies and hoodies, everything in between and even the odd stormtrooper (not the SS kind). Knowledge of the sight lines and choke points are more important, because you’re engaging at such close distances that unless you’re dressed as a sheet of MDF, concealment isn’t really on the agenda. As others have said, face-pro is the important one.
  7. I keep looking at the EVO Carbines....ticks that box of “Not an M4” and they seem brilliant out of the box. Any issues with the mosfet? I’ve read the odd thing here and there but anything can fail so it’s hard to gauge “real” issues.
  8. Just the 2.0....without the ETU. Was a conscious decision at the time to keep things simple.
  9. ‘Cos everyone regarded Raiders as a great go to for a beginner. I think when I was looking at my first RIF, the Raider 2.0 had just come out, and I loved the M-Lok rail over a standard Picatinny. So I had a family of guns that were well recommended, almost universally praised, as a good starter gun, with a fresh lick of paint in the form of a more modern rail, AND at a price point that was a good entry point....seemed a no brainer at the time and I don’t regret it one bit. A bit like anything in life, once you have trust in a brand, you tend to stay with them until proven otherwise. I do that in fishing, and I think I’ll do the same in airsoft too, to be honest. G&G just don’t seem to make BAD guns. Yeah there’s more expensive ones, sexier ones, better trades etc....but in my limited and brief experience, they just seem reliable and do what I want a RIF to do, at a price point that won’t make you wince when it goes wrong.
  10. I’ve been pondering the same thing recently when it comes to brands and what toy to buy next. Currently I have a G&G Raider 2.0 and a TM Hi-Capa. I want to get something different to the Hi-Capa, but that’ll be a TM because TM pistols just seem to be the best option if you don’t mind plastic slides. Next RIF though....I find it frustrating that the industry standard is TM’s original gearbox designs and then it’s a free for all after that. Some brands do this well, some brands do that and so on. Even the top end stuff, the same bits will break eventually. That’s fine, I think I’ve learned to look at these things as model kits rather than the finished product, but I find myself increasingly looking at mid range guns as the next purchase because I just feel a mid-range gun that is aesthetically pleasing that will eventually go to a tech for a Warfet and a slight service will do all I need and want. I have a lot of faith in my G&G, so I’m always looking at their line up and liking their newer stuff. If only they made the SIG 55X’s still, and made a decent mid cap for them...
  11. I said casually to the Mrs I’d like a new pistol (TM P226 E2) and she stunned me by saying “well I’ll do you a deal; if you go four times between now and Christmas and I know you’ll use it, I’ll buy you it”. 🤯 I keep looking at either the G&G or TM 552 but the mag situation just puts me off a bit. Shame because they’re awesome looking guns.
  12. SIG. Don’t sure why. There’s other names that I like, like HK and FN, but for some reason I just like SIG and their products. A P226 is at the top of my shopping list, and I keep looking at the various 552/3’s out there. I love the MCX too but the price is bananas.
  13. I have to say, my local site tends to be pretty well marshaled and marshaled by the locals. Yeah they dominate when they’re in a group, but only because they know the place with their eyes closed. They’re all fair and decent lads. Most of the sinners though fall foul of a very common sin that extends into every day life. Thou shall not be a dickheadth I think cheat calling annoys me more than non-hit takers to be honest. If I go and run around with a toy gun for a few hours, my only concern is about my experience and my conduct. Yeah someone not taking hits is annoying, but that’s what marshals are for. Someone screaming “TAKE YOUR HITS” across the warehouse sours the mood real fast. Everything else, I think, just tends to be completely unnecessarily. Spamming semi, headshots when you have the whole of a person to aim at, getting angry...99/100 I just think it’s pathetic and unwarranted. We’re all dressed up like soldiers running around with toy guns. Take the rules seriously....but apart from that? What’s the point in getting worked up? IT’S. A. GAME. If everyone woke up, looked themselves in the mirror and said “right, try to not be a c*** today”, the world would be a better place. Same goes for airsoft.
  14. Not even a year into this sport, and I’m constantly looking at other pews pews. All is fair in love and bb war. I went for the Raider 2.0 in the first instance because M-Lok is sexy, so I keep looking at the newer Krytac’s and their M-Lok rails...yum. There’s a lot of variety in this thread, so I didn’t want to drag it down with “just another” M4! I think I’ve put more into the accessories than I did the stock gun.
  15. I know an M4 is an M4 is an M4, but below is my Raider 2.0. I’ve very much enjoyed flicking through this thread looking at all the pretty pew pews, so thought I’d share mine! Not pictured is my TM Hi-Capa ‘coz you all know what they look like.
