sorry, but if you send it, it remains your responsibility until the recipient not only signs for it but also checks its condition.
the only exception to this is if the buyer arranges for a courier to collect from you, but that only exemplifies you from loss, not the condition of the item, unless it can be proven damage was caused in transit.
purely making a statement does not free you from contractual obligations, your only real alternative is collection only.
