  1. Are you using it at 9x magnification? typically at the upper end of an adjustable scope it's only gonna be focusable out to further distances. However I would imagine at 3x mag you might be able to get a focused image at 12 metres. I ran into this same issue when I started taking out the rats with my air rifle from within 10 metres, I tried several scopes, i finally got one tuned in at 5x mag for about an 8 metre shot. Obviously your particular scope is pretty much as budget as you can get - having said that, as long as it holds zero (which it is not guaranteed to do) it may be serviceable for your garden plinking. Otherwise you may want to upgrade - however as far as I am aware even a more expensive scope would have the same problem of focusing at higher magnification on a close target.
  2. Watched the last two episodes of TCW last night - the final arc was great and gives some great perspective on what was going on whilst the events of Revenge of the Sith are playing out. The light-sabre dual in episode 10 is actually one of coolest looking in all of star wars imo. Been watching Rebels concurrently actually and while it is not as good as TCW, it has some great episodes and moments. Some really interesting news about Star Wars recently – just the other day Taika Waititi was made director of a new upcoming film. But also some odd and disturbing news; one of the next series or films is being taken over by an ultra-zealot feminist. I really do hate the direction Kathleen Kennedy has been trying to take these projects in – I’m glad she had no control over TCW. Even then, I’m cautiously optimistic for season two of the Mandalorian, the Obi-wan series, the Ahsoka series and whatever Taika is working on as he’s probably my favourite director to emerge into the spotlight in the last few years. TCW S7E10 light-sabre dual - spoilers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlFC8woFkTA The finale last night made me want to go back and watch this scene from Rebels again - potentially a bit spoilery if you've not seen all of TCW or rebels... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eU9JRYzUBBg
  3. As @Adolf Hamster says, sounds indicative of a stripped piston - i've had a new one strip after a few shots as well, very disheartening - real bit of tough luck that dude. Unless you are very mechanically savvy and inquisitive that is going to have to go back to the shop 😞 - as mentioned above, that would not be as a result of using an 8.4v nickel battery.
  4. Well I suppose to some extent it amplifies your target's ability to dodge, you get those little bastad battles where the two of you are literally firing at each other for ages and you can see plain as day the streak of little white peppercorns flying your way. It's all about that delayed pre-fire, get him to peak into your shot 😛 But i'm always looking for the sneaky peaky flank, airsoft frustrates me so much when it turns into a two front WW1 style game - it becomes almost impossible to feed the flank addiction. Happens all the time at EAG Dorking in the push pull front line game mode they usually do towards the end of the day in the section round the back with the netting all the way round... winning team is the one at the end whos pushed their front line beyond the half way point. My point there being is that if you can get into a nice flanky position your BB travel time usually ends up being less of an issue as your taking out guys who don't know you're there 😜. God I miss airsoft...
  5. Oh yeah, I remember... talk about come full circle Man this thread is hijacked af! sorry @Liam1992I reckon you still should be able to find some useful little bits of info to consider in the above 😜
  6. Exactly, the LPVO does away with the need for a magnifier. I'm actually thinking about using it @ 1x next time I go CQB.
  7. Yeah, I'm cheap... not holding out for a Vortex or other RS myself 😅
  8. Jeez, .48s... fire ya gun, bug out, go brew a cuppa, come back and the guy on the other end gets hit.. otherwise known as approximately 210 fps Though i'm guessing it's pretty damn flat, and consistent. I think i'm a little behind the curb, i'm still on .25 and .28 @ 1.15j setups and 0.3 with DMRs. It's not because I wont go heavier, i just have tens of thousands of rounds in the above weights.... and i only play semi auto 😐 Who knows, maybe in 10 years I might make it up to a bottle of 0.36 😜 Aye will do, might actually do a flat hop/ML/TNT versus review... that might be cool. But at this rate with lock down i'm starting to wonder if I am ever gonna see my kit again, let alone get around to the above 🥺
  9. I agree, and I also get the impression that you would need a bit of retraining to instinctively start canting your gun to the side when you are actually in shooting environment, when BBs are flying your way; but I suppose as with anything else this can come naturally with a bit of drilling. Yeah, the one i have belongs in the bin, I remember spending so much time getting raisers n all that bs to get it lined up just so with my 553, and it just didn't work, terrible sight picture, really wobbly base that totally ignored zero - piece o crap! 😒
  10. Says its 44mm, try measure the scroll wheel diameter on your VK, looks like there is a little bit of give and take on that diameter, judging by the way it tightens onto the optic.
  11. Yeah mine has the threaded dowel piece that definitely makes it easier than scrolling with your hand clamped around the ring... same as the one below: Looks like you can also get after market clamp-on throw levers which have quite long handles, I can imagine these make it all the more easy as you get a little more leverage. For sure, personal pref is gonna be different and the determining factor. I actually had laser correction in both eyes in 2010, and for a good 3-4 years of perfect vision, RDS became way better than they had been previously, both because i could see clearly at distance but also somehow the changes from the operation meant that the red dots themselves were clearer with less ghosting and halo effect - though obviously some are just cheap and terrible and have crap red dot projection. Anyway, since then my vision has dropped off again slightly - still don't need to go back to glasses, but it's not quite as sharp as it was for the first few years after the op, but now is when i really appreciate the low powered magnified optic which honestly seems to give me as good if not better clarity than when i actually had better than 20/20; I imagine because the actual zoom level at 1x is actually ever so slightly higher. One of the first magnified optics i bought was an acog clone which had a little mini rds up top, it was a cool looking setup, but i didn't like losing my cheek weld to peep over the top (though honestly it was not much different from running my M2 up on the M733 carry handle). You ever tried canted RDS ? - problem is with the way hop works i'm not certain how good that would be, if you have it dialed in well it would probably still work within 20 metres or so.
  12. I would argue it's better, as the level of optical clarity represents a distant target as if it's a few cm away from your eye, so unless you have 20/20 vision the 1x optic is going to give you better vision than an RDS even at 1x mag. Having said that, if you require reading glasses then it may have the opposite effect.
  13. I mean I don't think there are two ways to interpret that..
  14. I tend to either use ML Macaron green/yellow with an omega nub, or flat hop by modifying a standard rubber and making a nub out of eraser. More and more these days i tend to just go for ML as it's just quicker and easier and the results are decent. Having said that, my most accurate and consistent gun uses one of my own flat hops, problem is some times the results on the flat hop can be a bit hit or miss, but when they turn out well, they tend to be better than anything I have. I spotted the TNT rubbers and nubs recently: https://www.skirmshop.co.uk/2-pack-aeg-60.html https://www.skirmshop.co.uk/tnt-studio-t-nub.html I like the way the way the window patch and nub contacts look - these look like they are closer to a standard flat hop - though ofc perfectly done in the factory (some times hard to do with your own handy work). ML use a triangular flat protruding patch where as TNT use a larger and longer patch - to my eye it actually looks as though some barrel windows may need modding/extending to make use of the TNT. But the TNT gives me the impression of more contact for longer on the patch and therefore potentially a better system. I may give TNT a spin - anyone tried them? Or even better, has any one tried both ML and TNT with a clear favorite?
  15. As @Skara and others say, an LPVO option is the way to go, i have something similar to this one on my Mk18 (though not actually visionking): https://www.amazon.co.uk/ATOM-Optics-Compact-illuminated-reticle/dp/B0747RKMSS/ref=sr_1_3?crid=157MTWA2WGNCO&dchild=1&keywords=1-4x+scope&qid=1588332953&sprefix=1-4x+%2Caps%2C147&sr=8-3 They have such crystal clear optics, especially at the lower power settings, and i've tested running both eyes open at 1x zoom and it works as well as any RDS. Though ofc that image quality will be down to the manufacturer and the quality of the glass used. The one advantage of the spectre is that the lever on the side allows very quick zoom transition - with the LPVO scopes you have to twist which is never going to be quite as fast.
  16. Rated Excellent on TP with over 100 reviews - will add it on 👌
  17. Trust pilot score is 4/5 with some good and some bad reviews pertaining to customer services. Not the best sample size on 12 reviews but still.. An old thread on here about them from 2017: Seems okay, webby looks good.. will add them on. If you are looking to purchase from an overseas retailer sometimes it's good to do a dry run with some parts or accessories and see how that goes before purchasing an RIF.
  18. Have you ensured the lever is at the correct angle to allow the top side of the fore grip to come off? In the below tutorial it seems to be the 10:30 - 11 o'clock position required to remove it - perhaps you twisted it too far or not enough? http://www.emei-landarms.com/UpFiles/2015/E&L AK AIRSOFT DISASSEMBLY TUTORIAL2.pdf
  19. Seems kind of unbelievable what you are getting for the price. I too have always associated DE with the creme de la crap of airsoft guns, but it looks like they wanna play with the big boys now.
  20. For sure, still makes it no less relevant... As some one who has been there, your own opinion, informed by experience is worth more than hearsay. Indeed, I'm aware that Shanghai has a long history - besides most modern cities do, they start off as small commerce spots or fishing villages on the coast as is the case with Shanghai, typically hundreds or thousands of years prior. I was not suggesting Shanghai was similar to Milton Keynes or Shenzhen in origin (though even the latter has settlement history going back over a thousand years). My point really highlights how the government has managed or maintained both the cultural heritage and image of their cities. During the communist revolution following WWII and even more so in the cultural revolution in the 60s, a lot of old Buddhist and other cultural heritage sites were destroyed - In Shanghai from what I understand there was a concerted effort to rip up older traditional streets and modernise everything - now this of course is not entirely fair as a stand alone point as that is basically how cities work, without this process we wouldn't have any modern infrastructure and would still have cobble stone roads, but if you take somewhere like London as an example, arguably the greatest city in the world for so many reasons, the national heritage trust has gone out of it's way to ensure that important pieces of history are maintained, and that is not limited to massive landmarks such as the Tower of London, Tower Bridge and the houses of parliament; but includes little ally ways and cobble stone back streets that carry great weight, atmosphere and our cultrual heritage. The thing is, during the cultural revolution in China, their aim was in fact to eliminate all trace of certain older traditional and cultural aspects. That's what I meant by "possibly a little devoid of any real cultural or historical background" - perhaps, that was unfair on its own and a little more context was required behind that statement. Having said that... as mentioned I've never been to China, I've read, watched and tried to be as informed as possible on certain matters, I hope to be proved as wrong as possible, I hope there are still loads of ancient untouched back streets in old Shanghai which survived the cultural purge; it's tragic when our ancient histories get erased by the current powers that be or fanatics like the Taliban with those Buddha statues in Afghanistan, ISIS in Syria or even Alexander the Great with Persepolis (an ancient event in itself). Yeah I would like to very much, and with me curiosity usually wins over, so suffice is to say.. one day. I would love to see the incredible geological mountain, hill top structures in Guilin province.. it's been on my bucket list of places for years. That's a good point you raise, it's easy to bundle people in with their respective leaders or governments, and there may be a few cultural differences here and there that might make us go 'err what!?', but ultimately people are all just that, trying to put food on the table, look after their family, get an education etc etc...
  21. I actually doubt there is an out of the box Lithuanian G36. Though as long as you can find the specific RIS front set you want, you should be able to build it from either a G36E or G36K. A lot of the pics I can see seem to actually be a barrel length between a G36E and G36K with a K length RIS unit (and a lot of bare barrel up front). So you could get yourself either, replace the optic with a G36C rail up top and the RIS unit up front. These might be okay base guns as they already has the rail up top and you would only need to source the RIS front set: https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/jing-gong-g608-4-g36v-railed-handle-w-bipod?pv=5353 https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/jing-gong-g608-2-g36k-w-folding-stock?pv=8613
  22. Hoping to watch it this week, if not tonight - apparently there are some great action set pieces!
  23. If you are going to use a more powerful gas such as guarder power up or black gas you may want to use a thicker Dielectric silicon gel in the magazine seals - I've found it works very well to maintain them under higher pressure. This kind of stuff: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dielectric-Silicone-Grease-Universal-Use-15Kv-mm-50-C-to-230-C-50g-Tin-/172745276722
  24. Well that's good to hear, perhaps my uni friend's experience was more reflective of contemporary China, and equally maybe I cant attribute that characteristic to 'a majority' but more so an 'increasing number of...' people. I see, that's actually surprising as from what I have understood, Beijing, at least these days, is sort of maintained as the cultural (and more recently communist) capital of China, supposedly kept a little more traditional but has a lot of communist statues and that type of thing.. freer of western influence as it were. I suppose though as it is also the tourism capital of China they need to provide amenities such as MacDonalds and other western outlets. Shanghai on the other hand seems very modern, stacks of skyscrapers and a lot of millionaires, possibly a little devoid of any real cultural or historical background, but good for business and that kinda thing. On a similar not Shenzhen is an interesting city, its only a few decades old and now is the production and commerce centre of the world - caters heavily to foreign travelers and investors. To be honest I've wanted to visit China for a long time, but the recent trend reported of increasing hostility to foreigners has been off putting, not to mention all of the points mentioned time and time again in discussions and threads such as this one. Having said that I try to keep an open mind, I went to Iran in 2018 and that was nothing like I expected.. went in feeling very nervous about.. everything. Came back not knowing what all the fuss was about. People don't realise how powerful and real propoganda is until you can disprove it for yourself.
  25. A half Chinese/Brit student I was friendly with at uni told me that the one child policy had also resulted in a majority of Chinese kids being quite spoilt and contributed to a generally very unemphatic population. In my mind this actually makes a lot of sense - when you have siblings you learn an innate kind of social structure, how you treat other family members of approximately the same age, the whole give and take structure. But with one kid that is always gonna be tough, everything is far more singularly focused on them. And then you have an entire country where generation after generation is deprived of that vital stage in early learning. I find that quite scary, a billion odd people brought up to not really care about anyone else. I mean it's a tough one though - even with the the OCP, the mainland population hit over a billion people. Had their been no such policy I suppose you may have seen a completely unsustainable level in population growth which could have lead to disaster - one of the biggest and probably unsolvable famines the world would have ever seen. Damned if they do damned if they don't. If anyone is interested in political and social situations in China, i recommend the Youtube channel ADVchina: https://www.youtube.com/user/churchillcustoms/featured It's run by an American and South African duo who have both lived in China for most of the past decade or so, they also both have native Chinese wives. They seem pretty fair and give balanced arguments, though in the past couple of the years you can see the problems they encounter with Chinese govt have increased ten fold, to the point that I think neither of them actually live their any more. Anyway, very cool topical channel.. taught me loads I didn't know about China.
