  1. Love that 👍 ... When we got burgled and I lost a few RIFs the Surrey Police officer who came round the next day to have a chat about security and future prevention was a semi regular from EAG Dorking, obviously very cool about it and sympathetic to the kit i'd lost - Showed him the 11.1 high-speed(ish) kit with a strobe i'd put together for home defense and asked if it would be legal for those purposes (to absolutely hose down an intruder - and potentially cause bodily harm in defense), his reply was categorically 'yes', on your own property, some one breaking and entering, let um have it. I think he even mentioned that he might go home and setup something similar for the same purpose.
  2. Apparently one of my nephew's teachers is aware that "my uncle has lots of guns" ... "did you tell him they're not real?" ...shrug/smirk 🤦‍♂️ Actually my dad's worse - he tells people i'm into "Guns and Bombs"... Firstly.. I'm really not that into bombs... i dont even use pyros on game days 😅 . Secondly.. why would you say that dad? Thirdly, we're half middle eastern ffs! 🤦‍♂️
  3. Yeah I went through an H nub phase - though i've since replaced most of them with maple leafs with omega nubs. I had mixed results with them - I did manage to set one or two guns up to work really well with them - actually I think my SPR still has one inside - though when I get round to overhauling it I will probably put an ML in that too. @Adolf Hamster is right about them potentially causing side spin issues - I think they probably work better when the tolerances and size of the hop channel and window space is a little tighter so that it doesn't have room to have that horizontal movement.
  4. Durometer scale... nice one @E21A that's my 'learn something new every day' checked off 👍 I'd always wondered if it might be the temperature the molded rubber was left to cure / cool down at - resulting in slightly differing hardness properties. I think steel hardening uses those kind of principles. However when you compare a 50 vs an 80 (let's say Maple Leaf) hop rubber, they look and feel like they are made of totally different materials; the softer ones being more matt and granular, closer to the feel of an eraser while the harder grades are a little more shiny and feel a bit more plasticky like silicone tubing.
  5. It's actually less complicated than that... it's all down to the softness rating - i'm not sure why it's labeled in degrees; there is no physical angle to consider. The lower the degrees rating, the softer the rubber, you would choose your rating based on the approximate power output of your gun. - 50 degree: 280-360 FPS - 60 degree: 295-390 FPS - 70 degree: 360-460 FPS - 75 degree: 425-490 FPS - 80 degree: 490 FPS + these are the maple leaf ratings but they are pretty universal tbh.
  6. Yeah pretty much all his social media went private just after the incident - haven't really heard any update on the situation though.
  7. I think some shells possibly have enough space for the AR latch to be installed upside down; if that is the case you would have the curved side of the AR latch trying to catch the grooves on the bevel gear - i.e. it wouldn't work and the spring would just unwind after every shot - the AR latch arm might also be sitting too high above the bevel gear grooves in this scenario. Alternatively you could have installed the AR latch with the arm resting in the 1 o'clock position which would have it riding over the top of the bevel gear. you need to engage it with the bevel notches by manipulating it into approximately the 4 o'clock position and then testing that it works by rotating the bevel gear to make sure it is catching on the AR lever arm.
  8. I mean last summer I was trying to keep up 100 press ups a day - so by that logic I would have has a quota of 5 TKs per game before I would actually have to start checking my targets 😜 Started doing them straight out o bed again the other week.. struggling to do a set of 20 at the moment. 😣
  9. Yep, me too - whenever I'm at Grange live in Brum i'll rack up a fair few TKs and take a quite a few myself too. It may be the layout of the site that lends itself towards getting taken out by your own team. I also think it might be the pistol snap shooting/dry firing I tend to do at home (I mean we all do that a bit right?)... i practice snap shooting with target acquisition being priority, and then not even think about the target identification part.
  10. Thank you @Davegolf and @Adolf Hamster some great little nuggets of info in there which I didn't really know or understand before, though am starting to get my head round now 👍 I think one of my problems here was not actually properly understanding the nature and factors that cause and effect joule creep.
  11. Yeah this is what I assumed to be the case. Though I thought there would be more too it based on the nature of the propellant gases... could be over thinking it as usual though 😵 Okay interesting - it sounds as though I'm missing some core foundation knowledge to fully understand it for myself to be honest and may need to do some further reading. But what you are saying defo helps explain the deficiencies in the propane based gases 👍 What I still don't understand and i don't think is touched on in the above is the correlation between barrel length and it's effect on fps increase in compressed air systems like that of an AEG versus gas (other than ofc the vast difference in percentage increase in barrel length - a pistol's going up by over a 100% and then an AEG maybe getting a 20% boost in length) I believe I understand the core principle of barrel length to speed/power - taking a real gun as an example, the explosion inside the cartridge propels a bullet forward and while it is being propelled forward through the barrel it is gaining speed, once it leaves the barrel it immediately starts to drop speed, hence a longer barrel gives the projectile more time and length to gain speed. So the reason an M16 has a higher muzzle velocity than an M4 is that in that extra 5.5 inches of barrel the M16's bullet has continued to speed up, wheres the bullet out of the M4 exited 5.5 inches earlier at a lower velocity. And i do believe you can essentially apply the same principle to an airsoft gun - the nature and source of the propellant being the main difference. The reason (again in my mind) that gas gun's might be more effected than compressed air, is that propane has that fast expansion rate, so that longer barrel may be giving the BB more time to accelerate with a higher rate of expansion behind it from the propane than that of compressed air - and by that i obviously mean the compressed air at the lower psi levels generated by an AEG gearbox - not an HPA system (and yes, not factoring in air temperature here may be unfair but, just assuming everything is.. around average or lets a say a warmish day so the propane is actually doing it's thing efficiently).
  12. Actually I have a similar follow up question as the OP with regards to GBBs. As @Davegolf said they do seem to have some other considerations: in my mind it probably has to do with gas expansion rates between compressed air and a propane derivative like green gas and the extra time and space they have in a longer barrel to accelerate the bb - though I don't know a great deal about the topic and could be wrong. I have a crazy jet and maple leaf rubber in my sig - these two components greatly increased the guns accuracy and consistency over stock. As i've mentioned in a previous thread I mean to put a suppressor on there and upgrade the 80 or so mm barrel to 230mm barrel of the same type. Now with a GBB that should cause a marked increase in fps and potential accuracy. Can anyone give an idea of just how much? And also an explanation of why condensed rapidly expanding gases like propane would be more effected than just compressed air would be appreciated!
  13. Yeah, imo his reviews are some of the best on YT if you are looking for some depth - he got a shout-out from airsoftology a few weeks back, hopefully that helps his following grow a bit.
  14. The company I've been interviewing with for the past month or so offered me the job today - I replied with a counter offer and they accepted.
Possibly my second thought on the matter was.. 'I may well now be able to afford an LCT G3A3'...  at least without wincing that is.

Nice. Share those sexy kit posts once you spend all your hard-earned cash on the sport haha

Hey congrats! Not enough people negotiate wages and such these days, but sounds like you nailed every part of the application process. Buy that G3 with your hard earned victory money! :P

  15. I suppose unless people decide to give up their sport or activity completely, this eventually does become a very subjective matter. There have been expert medical opinions which seem to suggest the risk will remain for years to come if not to some extent actually create permanent change. So then once the government says it's okay - we have to make our own minds up, because 'okay' seemingly is going to mean 'reduced risk'.. not risk free; but I mean such is everything in life. The problem is world governments need to get their economies kick started - and there have been signs right from the start of this pandemic that information is being omitted to make the prospect of a return to normalcy seem less risky.
  16. Yeah, in a selfishly ironic kind of way i'm glad he was out there with an actual firearm and not one of his rifs - having said that, he'd be in way less trouble if that had been the case. Indeed, though I suppose whatever took it's place could broadly be called a Section 8 by the masses because of pop culture; I think I only know the reference because of Full Metal Jacket. I agree though, BS until proven otherwise... still not seen any real follow up reporting on the case.
  17. No you were right, they are definitely Italy based, but their amazon store seems to get a lot of US customers.. funny thing is a number of the poor reviews seem to be to do with purchases on boots - wrong sizes being sent, high return charges, that kinda thing. Either way, shouldn't be as much of an issue for us - have added them on 👍 https://www.amazon.com/sp?_encoding=UTF8&asin=&isAmazonFulfilled=&isCBA=&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&orderID=&seller=A14JNY308Z0IC7&tab=&vasStoreID=
  18. Okay, will add them on, reviews seem a bit mixed tbh.. seems like they are pretty bad with returns (mind, a lot of those cases seem to be US based amazon customers)
  19. Indeed they do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rt6u1ewmHYg&t=46s
  20. So interestingly enough this one by EAIMING (good job on the name of your company) appears to have a 4 cell batt - so likely 4.8v out the gate. Mind, I've not looked at any reviews for it yet. https://airsoft.tiger111hk.com/p30345/EAIMING-1200rds-Electric-Magazine-for-G36-AEG/product_info.html
  21. Agreed, jumping from 3.6v to almost double might be too much. NimH cells are 1.2v meaning you are running on 3 cells, you could probably find something with 4 cells (4.8v) which is size compatible from either ebay or one of the various battery shops. Another option would be to purchase a single 1.2v cell with tabs and solder it into your existing battery if you are setup for that kind of thing.
  22. Perhaps a TM high cap is the way to go, the only one i've owned was pretty good, but it wasn't for the G36... Regarding the feeding speed of the electric drum mag, what kind of battery does it use, and might it be possible to feed it with something at a slightly higher voltage. That might pick the feed speed up a bit for you while also applying slightly more pressure on the BB stream allowing the BBs to get into the hop unit more reliably.
  23. There are also these things: https://www.bespokeairsoft.co.uk/g36-electric-dual-magazine-1000-rounds I've thought about picking one up for messing around with for years, but just never really got round to it - also the fact that my G36 has never worked that reliably; once I remedy this I may well get one. At the moment I just have a box of 140rd Star midcaps, but as you say G36 mags are so big and clunky; the dual mag 1000 rounder might be a nice solution with that in mind. I'm not certain but i think i've heard that they can have some reliability issues, so if that is something you might go for, definitely read up beforehand. I believe there are a handful of manufacturers who make/made them.. battleaxe being one of them.
  24. I'm just looking into this case a little bit.. and while I can put zero stock in this as it is literally a youtube comment... I could totally buy it at this point in time - the case does sound like there is an element of something not quite right upstairs going on here: I knew Greg from my old Airsoft store I used to hang out at (AEX in Torrance, CA) I remember him talking with someone about him being discharged from the military for a Section 8. This might be an example of that section 8?? A section 8 is a discharge from the US armed forces for being mentally unfit for duty. Remember though, that's a youtube comment and means nothing.. however if it is true I would imagine the follow up reporting on the story would likely dig it up and mention it. Also I doubt being sectioned 8 categorises you as 'insane' or some other gradient of that meaning, perhaps you could get discharged on those grounds for depression or anxiety? though i don't know the fact of the matter.
  25. Damn... he never struck me as the 'complete and utter moron' type, having said that I've never really liked the guy, he has an arrogant superiority complex that comes through from time to time in his videos.
