  1. TL;DR - I believe that no duty = no flat UPS brokerage charge of £11. The UPS charge of £11 to clear an item through customs, if it is eligible for duty. They charge £11 to take items through customs whether the duty is that or whether it's more and then you pay VAT, while the said they could always return to sender there MUST be a way to just pay the VAT+Duty and leave them with nothing, they were already paid on the other end - by you. From what I was told, if the duty comes to more than £11 they will eat it, but if it doesn't you pay extra. That said, the £11 MAY just be for customs duty and not for VAT, its all rather unclear - not that I have put any effort into figuring it out. http://www.ups.com/content/gb/en/shipping/cost/additional.html#Brokerage+Services I would assume therefore that if you insist evike have filed the wrong code your package should go through and you only pay VAT. That worked for me, and I think UPS made an error allowing my package without VAT. Plus, if enough people make this complaint evike could get in trouble with UPS. https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty I insisted that I would not pay UPS the £11 or the VAT until they told me how much of the £11 was duty, of course I paid the code above so I could have looked it up, but they simply responded with, "was I refusing to accept delivery?"
  2. Is there some obvious detail missing that I don't see? I cant conceive of a situation where a normal goggle impact would necessitate replacement. £20 seems kinda cheap.
  3. Is this the sort of information you're looking for?:
  4. I only copied what I saw on the shop I was browsing. I did not know MTC was a copy though. Edited my above posts as I did mean MC. Now that I know MC and MTC are different I think I'll skip (default) multicam and it's clones for my first set of trousers/tops. I like the look of the darker greens. Besides if i'm really going to run a pair of p90s* I might as well go for a PMC look. thanks for that clue, I was only aware of one of those clones you have listed. *
  5. I don't but its a bit awkward. Thats good to know people mix and match.
  6. Thanks guys, I've seen from fictional portrait of military action that in the real military situation no one gives a crap what people are wearing (other than unit coherency), but in airsoft I imagine people have more time and inclination to critique others. As I currently have not got trousers/top, I do wonder if I would be better off (long term options open) shying away from MC, and going with OD or CT, Or just getting MC trousers and then OD/CT top.
  7. So, I'm advancing my loadout, and while I keep reading "all the newbs go MC*" quite frankly, I'm not too concerned, I saved myself £35 when I bought MC goggles over tan/black, and I have MC hat/gloves, and soon trousers. I've no plan to go beyond running a belt (with pistol holster) with thigh AEG mag holster and a sling for the next 6 months. This question is money motivated, looking for long sleeved MC clothing and these seem just right. Also, is it noticable if someone is mixing different shades of MC, like tropic with standard. UBACS - Under Body Armour Combat Shirt (for any other newbies reading this). *Multicam
  8. What about a blacklight for seeing all those grinning teeth.
  9. Found this, makes looking a lot easier. http://sjcamguides.com/sjcam-sj-scam-difference-real-fake-camera/
  10. Could you just hang a 6 hour 6inch <£8 glow stick off the back of your belt?
  11. So, arguing with UPS worked, got my package with no duty, no VAT - i did not expect this, but i was aware prior to arguing that 'rated' safety equipment is VAT exempt.
  12. The person receiving them did work in a lab (at one of the welsh universities), though as I understand it their research was geared at insects rather than general biology/genetics etc. They were just doing me a favour though, I didn't get any money for them beyond costs.
  13. You can share images on facebook, just right click and press "view image" and then share that URL.
  14. I send a box with 1000 cockroaches in it, by royal mail once, the person at the desk asked "will they get out?" I replied monotone and completely honestly "only if you fail to deliver it in 14 days", citing it would be cruel to pack animals in a container they could not eventually escape from when the food ran out. Never the less it was suitable for posting. EDIT: Incase anyone is wondering, when shipping insects general practice is box within a box.
  15. Theres no need - As I am already down a lot without an AEG, i'm going to hold off getting an gopro. Might still a cheaper alt though.
  16. Where is the manufacturer website for the airsoft brand "KS"?
  17. How much film can you get with 1 battery at 720/30?
  18. Hi, since all I can do is sit on my hands and wait for UKARA i'm been researching numerous details on airsoft and action cameras seem quite common. I have decided to go with an NVG set up and I ordered the gopro NVG mount today (didn't cost me anything) - some other action cameras are gopro compatible, at the moment I am looking at the SJ4000 and Hero3+ Silver. Generally speaking I just want to record for myself, but I have had a lot of fun looking at vids on YT so I'll probably put the best up there for general viewing, rather than blogging/wanabe commercial. However it is obvious that you can't just buy a camera and thats the end of it. Ignoring video editing software/hardware, and sticking to camera peripherals, how much does it cost to run an action camera with a good set up? Considering the SJ4000 is only £70 it may be worth getting one just to see if its a good fit with me, but if I was to get the £250 gopro down the line (im not talking soon, need to get into airsoft first) what would I need (to spend) for an effective setup? I've noticed gopro sell a LOT of accessories that serve difference purposes (admittedly many have strict camera compatibilities). http://shop.gopro.com/EMEA/accessories/ (there is a filter) Also, does anyone know any good articles on low light performance comparison of the gopros, and whether that includes transitions from inside to outside. ANY information about the SJ4000 would be appreciated (including how to avoid fakes:P).
  19. Sorry, I was just being thorough, I can't know your level of knowledge after all It's amazing the amount of people who rule things out because of perceived difficulty. I've never had a negative experience with a console, but nor have I owned once since my gameboy colour. Maybe these will help you: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_exclusives_%28seventh_generation%29 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_exclusives_%28eighth_generation%29
  20. 51% Maybe this helps: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/417199/Guidance_on_Firearms_Licensing_Law_v13.pdf
  21. Do you actually want a console or is money really a concern(?), that is to say, couch or desk, I'm right there advocating pc, though I admit I don't know why anyone would take a console over a pc if money was not the issue, other than the major titles from activision and EA most games are cheaper on PC than console. Unless you buy few games, you're going to be spend £10-20 per game (new) on console that would be saved on pc games. How are your peripherals at the moment, screen, interface devices etc? What I am trying to say is, that while consoles are marketed "affordable" unless you have a specific reason (money) to go console, you're better off with a pc. Many pc games now have full controller support. At the moment a good* gaming pc is as simple as this: Tower £40 PSU £60 Motherboard (with onboard sound) £140 Processor £100 RAM £100 SSD £100 HDD £60 (total so far: £600) GFX card £ as much as you want to spend £100-£300 - more than £300 and you'll want to spend more on the processor first. Optical drives are now optional. (£20 dvd, £50 bluray - however bluray playing software which is normally free with consoles costs £50 on pc). You can also buy: a gaming mouse £35 Illuminated keyboard for playing in the dark £30+ Aftermarket CPU cooling 5.1 sound system/headphones 22inch or larger 16:9 screen £100 All prices generally average. *don't read too much into what "good" means, certainly superior to any console if the right decisions are made in the parts used - but I would expect such a pc to be competative for about 6-8 years with gfx card upgrades every 3 years. SSD is a very fast replacement for the HDD, you do not need it or both just for a gaming pc, but generally they are not as reliable, though you should always backup data with any computer.
  22. Well, the tracking says it was delivered and that I paid no VAT or Duty.,Yet to confirm as I have not got it in hand, but if this is true then I should have refused to fill in the other form to and saved at least £15 (not ex VAT). I can only assume UPS filed it under safety equipment as I directed (complicated but exempt).
  23. Well firstly, do you actually have a defence to import a RIF. IF yes, argue with them and eventually chargeback if they refuse. I am interested in the response, as I like their store. http://www.evike.com/products/25511/ (2tone page) I personally hope evike is not taking this literally, as they're reading it wrong. For one, they wouldn't be the importer
