  1. How much film can you get with 1 battery at 720/30?
  2. Hi, since all I can do is sit on my hands and wait for UKARA i'm been researching numerous details on airsoft and action cameras seem quite common. I have decided to go with an NVG set up and I ordered the gopro NVG mount today (didn't cost me anything) - some other action cameras are gopro compatible, at the moment I am looking at the SJ4000 and Hero3+ Silver. Generally speaking I just want to record for myself, but I have had a lot of fun looking at vids on YT so I'll probably put the best up there for general viewing, rather than blogging/wanabe commercial. However it is obvious that you can't just buy a camera and thats the end of it. Ignoring video editing software/hardware, and sticking to camera peripherals, how much does it cost to run an action camera with a good set up? Considering the SJ4000 is only £70 it may be worth getting one just to see if its a good fit with me, but if I was to get the £250 gopro down the line (im not talking soon, need to get into airsoft first) what would I need (to spend) for an effective setup? I've noticed gopro sell a LOT of accessories that serve difference purposes (admittedly many have strict camera compatibilities). http://shop.gopro.com/EMEA/accessories/ (there is a filter) Also, does anyone know any good articles on low light performance comparison of the gopros, and whether that includes transitions from inside to outside. ANY information about the SJ4000 would be appreciated (including how to avoid fakes:P).
  3. Sorry, I was just being thorough, I can't know your level of knowledge after all It's amazing the amount of people who rule things out because of perceived difficulty. I've never had a negative experience with a console, but nor have I owned once since my gameboy colour. Maybe these will help you: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_exclusives_%28seventh_generation%29 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_exclusives_%28eighth_generation%29
  4. 51% Maybe this helps: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/417199/Guidance_on_Firearms_Licensing_Law_v13.pdf
  5. Do you actually want a console or is money really a concern(?), that is to say, couch or desk, I'm right there advocating pc, though I admit I don't know why anyone would take a console over a pc if money was not the issue, other than the major titles from activision and EA most games are cheaper on PC than console. Unless you buy few games, you're going to be spend £10-20 per game (new) on console that would be saved on pc games. How are your peripherals at the moment, screen, interface devices etc? What I am trying to say is, that while consoles are marketed "affordable" unless you have a specific reason (money) to go console, you're better off with a pc. Many pc games now have full controller support. At the moment a good* gaming pc is as simple as this: Tower £40 PSU £60 Motherboard (with onboard sound) £140 Processor £100 RAM £100 SSD £100 HDD £60 (total so far: £600) GFX card £ as much as you want to spend £100-£300 - more than £300 and you'll want to spend more on the processor first. Optical drives are now optional. (£20 dvd, £50 bluray - however bluray playing software which is normally free with consoles costs £50 on pc). You can also buy: a gaming mouse £35 Illuminated keyboard for playing in the dark £30+ Aftermarket CPU cooling 5.1 sound system/headphones 22inch or larger 16:9 screen £100 All prices generally average. *don't read too much into what "good" means, certainly superior to any console if the right decisions are made in the parts used - but I would expect such a pc to be competative for about 6-8 years with gfx card upgrades every 3 years. SSD is a very fast replacement for the HDD, you do not need it or both just for a gaming pc, but generally they are not as reliable, though you should always backup data with any computer.
  6. Well, the tracking says it was delivered and that I paid no VAT or Duty.,Yet to confirm as I have not got it in hand, but if this is true then I should have refused to fill in the other form to and saved at least £15 (not ex VAT). I can only assume UPS filed it under safety equipment as I directed (complicated but exempt).
  7. Well firstly, do you actually have a defence to import a RIF. IF yes, argue with them and eventually chargeback if they refuse. I am interested in the response, as I like their store. http://www.evike.com/products/25511/ (2tone page) I personally hope evike is not taking this literally, as they're reading it wrong. For one, they wouldn't be the importer
  8. You don't need to spend more than £850 nowadays for a good gaming pc (tower only), much less for adequate. Most of your money ends up in the £250 nvidia gfx card. What laptop do you have, maybe it has a thunderbolt port?
  9. Can't speak to your site, as you haven't elaborated on it yet, but have you considered starting with a pistol? You get to go cheaper with quality and get gas blow back, sacrificing range.
  10. Once you're in, you're in /envy
  11. "in no less than two months" could do with a rewrite to make it more clear for those of us with certain problems, the law eh :/ Could be "Attending a single site. For UKARA registration you must attend at least one game which is two months after your first game for a minimum total of three games." I made this thread because I could not understand why WA could not sell to me after they were sure that I would be eligible (when in fact I was not), it was not clear to me, at the time of posting the OP, that I had to have at least one game at least 2 months AFTER the first game - towards a minimum of three games. Thanks for everyone's replies, sorry that I couldn't understand the underlined section. /thread
  12. Good information, however I think you misread the OP.
  13. Sorry, I do not understand what this means in relation to my previous comment.
  14. That's not what the guy at wolf armouries said - I think he was wrong though. Also: To clarify if I've played 2-3 games with them and booked in for another two months after the first, then the database is a sure thing... That is to say, you don't need UKARA to buy them, just a reason/defence, and they would at that point have one. I get it's the way it is, but its annoying to locked to one site.
  15. TL;DR - dont read the stikeout. Well, the one up at wikia is very weak atm. There are a lot of people with a lot to say on airsoft. I think a good way to go about it would be to start a compendium of useful resources and then look to combine them with references at a later time. For page categories, I suppose you'd start with Safety, then legality, then lethality ( ), followed by manufacturers of RIFs(including rebranders). A weapons table (sortable) page with the columns: Weapon name (as the manufacturer terms is), brand (manufacturer, if different), Closest real steel equ, GBB/AEG/Pneumatic/Spring, Classification (Pistol, Shotgun, Rifle/carbine, LMG, BASR), release date, stock FPS - and so on. That then floods the wiki with pages, ask a few retailers if you can copy (and reference) the information from their store pages, eg TWG has good (not saying its correct, but it sure is clear) info listings. Then pages for, Airsoft Origins, the honour system, Eye Protection, the most common injuries, trigger discipline common sense airsoft, what do you need for your first game, advantages of hiring guns, the cons of being a sniper, Airsoft is not Call of Duty, Field types, Game types, Milsim, milsim lite, cheating, teching, modding, types of gearbox, There is a lot of overlap with real steel that's true, but there is a lot of information to be relayed on airsoft. First problem - checking whether there actually is not an existing quality resource. EDIT: I don't agree, wiki's have great potential, however as I am not in a position to stock a wiki with information, I cannot posit the making of one any further.
  16. Absolutely, a resource with a list of all available guns by manufacturer in one page, for example. Their tech specs, gearbox info and part lists all on one site. When I started airsoft the lack of a wiki was most disappointing.
  17. It was already on my list when I posted it at 3AM, please do not take this as sarcasm. I appreciate your input and that you took the time to give thought and help, but you "appeared" to simply copy a domain from the OP, with no further information given - thus confusing, or simply failed to read the OP, I was not sure which. EDIT: The reason I do not have statistics for the site is because I have not yet joined because there is no point, I would simply waste time reading on there, going to wait till I have an AEG or two.
  18. Thanks for sharing, I'll get trigger locks just in case. However I'm living in the over 25s building so not likely to run into any morons.
  19. Sorry, somehow I thought this was the one in general discussion and the other one was in media. Got a little confused (at 4:30 am).
  20. Didn't you already post this thread?
  21. So, as airsoft lacks wiki, and I cant find many sites dedicated to airsoft, most of the resources are buried in forums and youtube. Generally the characteristics of a forum (ignoring quality) are: Total posts/threads/members and how many members online in last hour/24 hours and most users online ever. Anonymous browsing can also be a telling feature. A lot of people think you go to a forum and ask a question, but often times looking where someone else has asked that question can be much more useful and quicker, albeit slightly more time consuming - and not consuming of others' time. I am looking for useful resources, are there any missing from below (looking for general resources in english)? Here is a list of Forums for airsoft I have located that are primarily in english(uk/usa) and are NOT obscure or tied to a specific skirmish site/club/team (retailers excluded). Note I have not included forums below a set size (recent visits) unless they are in the UK. They are ranked in order of usefulness to me (no other way). 22. Mores the point, where, we can all rush off there and get registered before they get kicked off the register... oh wait that wouldn't help us.
  23. Thanks for the rec, but £22 vs £12 cant be beat, i'll be going integrated next but a £12 option gives me lots of time to research.
  24. I can now confirm evike truely are dicks, a second package I ordered containing no rifs, no rif parts, nor anything else remotely related to rifs - only clothing, was filed under this harm code - I've let UPS know I refuse to fill in this form, I will see what happens. It is my understanding that UPS charge £11 to clear packages through imports - I believe this packages should not even be stopped, just charged VAT and moved on to delivery.
