    The recoil on my bolt m16a4 is very good imo. Much stronger than an ngrs and quite similar to an mws. I do worry how long before it'll break itself though.

    Exactly. From a customary glance of Wikipedia seems like the Belgians (very logical choice) and the Portuguese choose to make it their service rifle. The HK416 being adopted by a lot of the high speed folk didn't help things.

    IME they still felt like an AEG to shoot and the mechanism was just another thing to break. They still make AEG noises. It's like, slightly better to shoot but it doesn't feel like recoil at all. It feels like someone taped a rampant rabbit to your receiver.

    Tbh it's not surprising given that they never really got that much adoption, and most of the European stock of them were donated to Ukraine. Which is currently functioning as the graveyard of all the Cold War Classics.

    Yeah the split gearbox design is aoe problem central, i very quickly gave up on it running as an aeg. It became a testbed for shenanigans for a while until i eventually had a polarstar jack spare and a nozzle long enough to turn down to suit. Fixed the mag issue by heretically grafting a mount to fit an m249 box mag But even then it was just too big and cumbersome to be useful in game so i gave up on it.

    At the risk of derailing the OPs thread, how do they compare to GBBRs? I'm a recent GBBR convert, to the extent that my previously entirely satisfactory AEG no longer interests me, despite its obvious benefits in the cold. I know an EBB is never going to match a gas powered BCG, but are the NGRS options good enough to make it feel less like an AEG and more like a GBBR?

    I’ve had 3 over the years. Every one of them got sent back The first one, within half an hour of using it for the first time I had the pistol grip half of the gearbox fall out causing the rest of the replica to hit the ground. If I remember correctly the pot metal had sheered off around where it secured to the upper/rest of the replica The second one arrived with the metal bent where the stock slotted in which meant you couldn’t attach the stock at all, sent it back and got it replaced and the replacement ended up with the mag tray bending itself from the weight of its own drum mag just from testing it at home The third one externally was fine, however there was basically no air seal so it was pushing maybe 100 fps so that also got sent back I gave up after that 😂

    Indeed, dropped mine and it bent like a bannana, took a while to straighten it back out and run 2 big bars on the inside of the reciever to reinforce it. Fella i sold it to also recognised them as being made of pasta

    I hate to say it but it depends as EBB isn't universal. I've used NGRS in AKs and M4s/416s and I was very fond of it though GBBR puts a bigger smile on my face. There is EBB in different flavours by other brands and some are less efficient and even risk damaging the gearbox over prolonged use compared to AEGs without EBB - some people disable mock bolt-based EBB for the sake of preserving their AEG.

    I'd wait for used, they come up pretty often and they don't tend to have huge issues unless someone has "upgraded" it with loads of aftermarket junk.

    Custom M&P9L Came to me in a bit of a state Had paint on the frame from someone trying to paint the takedown lever Paint on the muzzle trying to cover the front in a black square. White paint near the stamped lettering I've isopropanol bathed the parts, cleaned them up. Both magazines were totalled. Someone has mashed the outlet/inlet valves with a screwdriver and chewed everything up. I've gasket sealed the JDG base magazine and fit the inlet outlet correctly so gun is fully functional and magazine is correctly gas tight. I've been as open and honest with the condition as I can be and provided lots of photos.     Fairly simple. I'm after a V3 AK gearbox casing for an HPA project. No guts needed, just the casing. If you happen to have a 150mm inner barrel going spare as well then that would just be super duper. I've put £10 but give me a price and the worst I can say is no.
