tside Posted yesterday at 13:20 Share Posted yesterday at 13:20 Ahoy hoy guys quick question. Picked up a lovely cyma rpk recently (https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/cyma-cm-052-rpk-74-folding-stock) now on its patrol base page it reccomends a nimh battery. My question is, is there any legitimate reason I shouldn't run a small lipo in it instead, or should I be A okay? Thanks in advance for any help here's a picture of AK Khajit
Galvatron Posted yesterday at 13:50 Share Posted yesterday at 13:50 (edited) I can't think why you can't run a LiPo as long as it's a 7.4V. You can run 11.1V on an AEG without a MOSFET/ETU though you run a higher risk (not a guarantee) of needing to rebuild or service your gun more regularly. I use a LiPo exclusively on one of my 20+ year old AEGs that doesn't have a MOSFET/ETU since its NiMh batteries lost most of their charging capacity years ago. Personally, I recommend LiPo over NiMH every time as long as you use a balance charger and keep an eye on your batteries when they're charging. Bin it and go to 7.4V lipo, there's no reason to use steam powered tech. tside
tside Posted yesterday at 14:07 Author Share Posted yesterday at 14:07 (edited) Thanks guys was worried there was something in it that would turn me lipos into fucking grenades or something so that's my mind well eased. I run a 7.4 in everything else but was just being extra cautious with the new toy Edited yesterday at 14:08 by tside Spellings/expanded reasoning Rogerborg
Supporters Rogerborg Posted yesterday at 14:31 Supporters Share Posted yesterday at 14:31 Nah, you're fine. 11.1V can get a little spicy[*], but 7.4V is spot on for CYMAs and most other toys. [*]
Cannonfodder Posted yesterday at 15:37 Share Posted yesterday at 15:37 Volts are volts. The circuit doesn't care about the chemistry of the battery. I've been using lipo batteries exclusively for the past 15 years or so and guess how many guns have had a mosfet. None and how many gins have had failures in that time? Again none. There's alot of bullshit put out about lipos and a hell of a lot of it is sales nonsense specifically designed to part the unwary from their cash by getting them to buy shit they don't need
