strykerles
Has anyone tried any of their AEGS? seen quite a few on patrolbase but the prices seem OTT I suppose if you want a preupgraded gnu it's good but are they really THAT good? A new one I saw today https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/bolster-tuned-cyma-cm-058-pp-19-bizon-smg-aeg
Daveoc33
Someone let me try their bolster tuned mp5 at my local site a month ago. It's was definitely good, don't get me wrong, but I'm not convinced it's £500-odd good. Trigger response was great, cycled a lot smoother than anything I own, and the range was good airsoft range (60m maybe a hair further - hard to see without a magnified optic but similar to most of my better guns). I just can't help but suspect you'd get most of the way there with a brushless motor, and 11.1v lipo, and a decent hop rubber. Add to that a perun with precocking and it'll be snappy AF. Perhaps you need to be a bit more of a connaseur to properly appreciate them, but if that mp5 was on sale I'd be very tempted. It's was pretty cool to shoot. They did a bolster mk23 a while ago and if you read through the parts list it was a pretty good deal from memory. Not sure on the aegs though but I'd imagine they're adding the parts at a reduced markup to make it more appealing. Baser
Similar to Daveoc33. I am new to this so started with day hire or borrowing a mates back up gun. Really wanted a MP5 because SAS, Die Hard, The Matrix....... Yes I am of that generation. I bought my own Cyma Platinum MP5K which was epic compared to what I had been using. One of the guys at my local site had the Bolster armouries patch and a MP5K which looked very similar to mine so I asked him about it. He very kindly let me have a go on the range, I think he was curious as well. The Bolster tuned variant was just better, smoother, more accurate, better sounding, snappy trigger response. Was it 2.5x as good as the platinum, difficult to say it did convince me to send mine off to be 'tuned' with a longer 'polished' inner barrel, high speed brushless motor, Gate Aster, hop up etc etc so it did make an impression. I am thankful I got to have a go as it showed me what I wanted and what could be done and how much better a well set up, shimmed and polished gun could be and stopped me going to a tech and just saying 'make it better' like the noob I am. Out of the box they are expensive but they have got some lovely internal upgrades but it is the law of demising returns at some point. From the little bit I've picked up about AEG internals over the years, I'd venture to perhaps say that these guns are right about on the edge of how far most people should probably go along that ever-flattening curve. With the caveat that some people are all about tweaking their gun internals to the absolute max and more power to them; I do the same thing but with kit. The parts lists on the example I checked out are similar to what Negative Airsoft Luke tends to do, and the fact they're putting them in CYMAs narrows the gap even further. Nothing wrong with that it's seemingly a very good formula as long as the person/s doing the work actually understand the nuances of our cheapy toy gats (which are bloody expensive). I've had many guns worked on by Luke now and there's no denying that they spoil you, it can be hard to go back to stock once you've tasted that sweet trigger response. Won't make a ton of difference in the woods vs a good quality stock gun that's not absolutely battered and with quality bbs, clean barrel and a properly set hop-up, but the end result sounds super nice.
