slipperysquid Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 (edited) As title, upgraded the spring in my TM NGRS MP5 and now I'm getting a slight "Twang" sound when firing the gun (used a CTEK 330fps spring for ngrs). I know one of my options is to try a spring from another manufacturer but I've read one way to reduce this noise it to fit a bearing spring guide. Is there any compatible spring guides on the market at the moment apart from the WiiTech one? After reading a bit more, seems like maybe a V3 AK spring guide will fit? Anyone have any ideas? Cheers! Pseudotectonic Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 I think another possible reason for the twang is if the spring is too short idk why some springs are different lengths
slipperysquid Posted February 17, 2024 Author Posted February 17, 2024 No,this spring is slightly longer than the original?
Tactical Pith Helmet Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 A spring that's too long will twist inside the cylinder and may scrape against the inner surface. Spring guide sounds like an idea. We used to use polished steel sections of beer can for airguns pre-ptfe guides!
Sewdhull Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Does the cylinder head not have a bearing in it?
Leo Greer Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Spring twang can also simply be caused by the spring itself. Some are just twangy. If it bothers you, you can try to fix it, but the twang itself isn't doing anything harmful.
