lilyelimum Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Hi all. I'm a complete newbe here. My sons friend very kindly gave him a black viper bb gun ...an old one of theirs but he has no battery. Model number is B4817. Can anyone advise what battery / charger he should get and where to get it. I have been told there are two different fittings ....deans or mini tamale ( prob spelt that wrong) Thanks
JimFromHorsham Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 That’s mini Tamiya , I’d suggest popping into an airsoft shop if you have one locally and see if they’ll test it for you , if it works then I’m sure they’d have battery’s and chargers for sale too .
lilyelimum Posted September 10, 2023 Author Posted September 10, 2023 Thanks Jim but the nearest shop is a few hours away. He was using the gun yesterday and it worked fine at an airsoft place so we know it's good. Can I buy the bits he needs online ?
gavinkempsell Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Those stocks tend to need a nunchuck type battery like this... https://www.vapextech.co.uk/airsoft-7-4v-1450mah-20c-lipo-battery-with-case-lp208-vapextech You'll need a charger too like this... https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/nuprol-compact-lipo-life-nimh-nicd-balance-charger?gclid=Cj0KCQjw0vWnBhC6ARIsAJpJM6dYUB-JbRe1TdQUaR4Q6198xrGCpyN6mOB7HiCwhkKduTvqFR7LY5gaAsDQEALw_wcB Most airsoft gnus tend to come with a cheap & nasty euro charger & battery so you might be able to pick one up for SFA from a friend that skirmishes. There are many types of battery & chargers to consider as well as protection for them like this... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fireproof-Protecting-protected-accidental-explosion/dp/B08GS6DKG7/ref=asc_df_B08GS6DKG7/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=463216849420&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5569258410136641636&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007330&hvtargid=pla-1063499779574&psc=1 JimFromHorsham and Rogerborg 2
Supporters Rogerborg Posted September 11, 2023 Supporters Posted September 11, 2023 Given that's a plastic gearboxed gun, and being given away for reasons unknown, I wouldn't be spending more than the bare minimum necessary to find out if it even works. Unfortunately, even the very cheapest combination of charger + battery is going to run you £30+. Airsoft isn't a particularly cheap hobby to get into.
lilyelimum Posted September 11, 2023 Author Posted September 11, 2023 He used it on Sat so we know it works . Thanks guys gavinkempsell 1

I mean, I'm sure it'll put electrons in, but my concern would be to which cells, and whether it will stop. Still, charge in an Explosion Containment Pie Dish and it'll probably outlast the gearbox.

You're not wrong and Big Clive would be proud. When I played with mine, they seemed OK. Cell volts were pretty even when I measured them. I would not use them as anything other than a lunchtime booster. Rogerborg 1
