She said she would give me all her gear, a glock and a AK (she doesnt remeber which one but I assume its a 47). Anyway I was just wondering what the quality of guns were like around 5 years ago, what manufacturers were around that did AK's and what is the likely hood of it being fully functional still (its been in her loft ever since)

Supporters Rock-climby-Dave Posted July 19, 2011 Supporters Posted July 19, 2011 chances are the gearbox is siezed up, take it apart (or get someone else to), regrease, new spring and O-rings and you'll have it as good as new. as for AK brands from 5 years ago..... marui, G&G, Classic army, all the big guys really.
Jake117 Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 No idea what the make is Marksman or even if its a 47, for all I know it could be a £10 springer :'( but i assume a martial would not be aloud to play with that so Im thinking realistically AEG or gas. And thanks Dave for all the info Should have it soon so Ill get right to checking every things in working order and replacing what needs to be ect ect.
G-Force Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Probably an AEG. If the gearbox is screwed it shouldnt't be hard to fix as it's probably a version 3 since it's an AK and there's plenty of spare parts for them
Supporters Rock-climby-Dave Posted July 20, 2011 Supporters Posted July 20, 2011 AK's do indeed use a Version 3 gearbox, but just check it works before opening it up, get it chrono'd at 300 or higher (or 260 ish if it looks/feels/sounds/shootslike/probably is a marui)
