Tommikka
Spinning off from threads with the UKPSF update on reopening sites under COVID .... What representation is there for Airsoft? The ABA, UKARA & UKASGB worked on the campaign regarding the VCR Bill and established the skirmisher defence. Another that I'm aware of is the UKAPU Who else is out there? What do they do for you and airsoft? Is there an overriding representation for airsoft, or a number of interest groups? John_W
Airsofters seem to be a bit contrary. There was talk of governing bodies around the time of the VCRA. Unfortunately at the time there was some rather immature rivalry going on between the two main forums, and a lot of " we aren't joining a body if Arnie/Fluffy* is involved (*delete depending on which forum you frequented)" and there was also Nutz at SWAT who had a big following from the "1 Joule is for sissies" brigade and then there were the Crayon Eaters over on Zero In. It was like herding cats, which is why Tim Wyborn bailed from the ABA once the defence was in place (that and all the abuse for not getting "The right kind of defence")
Crazy_Crystal
tbh as far as governmental lobbying goes, I'd suggest that UKAPU has been one of the major driving forces in recent years... particularly with their hard work on preventing our auto rifs being classified as section 5 firearms (the introduction of the 370/520 fps exemption that stops Airsoft guns being classified as a firearm.) so UKAPU and the UKARA are currently the big two in my book I think 🤔
Moderators djben9 Posted June 30, 2020 Moderators Share Posted June 30, 2020 as long as they talk to each other and form one alliance when needed to overcome obstacles, otherwise it will be like most groups 'they cant decide and things drag on' so we the normal people suffer
