Drin9
Looking for any advice on a base gun for a Mk18 build. Preferably with a mosfet as standard but more concerned about solid externals, can't stand wobble! Thank you in advance

Do you want to build an actual MK18 if so which one - Mod 0 or Mod 1? Block I, block II? How much do you want to spend? Building a MK18 to "proper" standards is a deep rabbit hole that will empty your wallet and drive you mental. This is a good example of how far that rabbit hole goes by the way... http://miairsoft.proboards.com/thread/46829/build-mk18-mod-1 As far as bases for builds there's a few if you want to go down the ready made route. The G&P ones are good https://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/gp-m4-mk18-sbr-aeg-airsoft-gun, the Tokyo Marui Recoil one is good but expensive https://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/marui-nextgen-mk18-mod1-airsoft-gun-aeg or there's the Specna Arms SA-A03 for a more budget friendly version https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/specna-arms-sa-a03-mk18-carbine-assault-rifle but be aware it won't stand up to the stitch counters that will point out that the 10.5" barrel isn't right... Thanks for the info, really great breakdown of the options. Do you have much experience with Specna externals? Definitely my main concern for buying the base

Do you have much experience with Specna externals? Definitely my main concern for buying the base I have an SA-A03 myself, built up to replicate the one used in Hawaii Five-O. It's pretty good, the forward assist button has snapped off (right after I told everyone how I'd had it for ages and had no problems with it) but it is purely cosmetic. It's been reliable, feeds well from most mags and can fit a lot of the standard aftermarket hops. I've modified mine a bit (Gate Titan mosfet, Maxx hop unit with tracer, different cosmetics) but the main parts of the gearbox are all original (gears, piston, cylinder etc). If you're into the nit picky detail, it's NOT an engraved Colt receiver, it's a 10.5" outer not 10.3" and the rail has no trademarks (Daniel Defence). To most people looking at it on the field though, it's a MK18. Actually, I'll have to check the outer length, it might be right.
