rossdzy
Hi,was trying out my new G&P M4 today, after shooting a burst on auto, the next shot rolled out the barrel and went no further than five feet!?? Please dont say the guns faulty!
Supporters Esoterick Posted March 10, 2014 Supporters Share Posted March 10, 2014 No it isn't normal, but I don't know what causes it. I had a gun ages ago that did it occasionally.
RR01
Have you set the hop yet? It could be the hop is fully off and an extra BB rolled down the barrel, rather than being held in place by the hop rubber.
Supporters Rock-climby-Dave Posted March 10, 2014 Supporters Share Posted March 10, 2014 what did the shot after do? are all the Bbs now just rolling, or is it inconsistent?

rossdzy
Okay got a hi cap mag today. Its a D Boys one, its not feeding bb's at all! The wee catch thing that holds the bb's in mag is quite stiff compared to the mag that came with the gun.will that stop them feeding?
RR01
It shouldn't do, as the catch is pushed back by the bottom of the hop feed tube. It sounds like your hop unit may not be sitting in quite the right place to accept the mag comfortably, which will stop it feeding BBs smoothly. Just to be sure it's not the mag, wing it up fully but with only about 60 BBs in it. Point the feed end into a plastic bag, then pull back the retention catch with your finger. Do all the BBs held under spring tension shoot out of the mag? If so. the mag should be fine. If not, there may be a problem with the mag winding spring, as they can break quite easily. dex
I would take the upper and lower receivers apart and check the hop up unit is seating properly in the outer barrel (which involves removing the pin from the front of the lower rec, see youtube for guides). The hop up unit with inner barrel attached should slide out/in smoothly with little effort and you should be able to push it into the outer barrel and have it spring back slightly toward you (via the small spring on the top of the hop up (check that this hasnt come loose/missing etc) which pushes against the back of the outer barrel). If it doesnt do this or is difficult to push into the outer barrel then there is your problem.

dex
Cheers guys, you were spot in Dex the spring at the front of the hop up is missing. No problem dude. Those things can come loose and fall off if not pushed all the way onto the little retainer pin thingy, probably happened during assembly. Get a replacement and the hop up should push back against the gearbox and air nozzle correctly and should sort out your feed problem.
