Hey AF-UK

Just like the Ttitle Says my friend has a SA80/L85 and it only has the circles so no way to fit ForeGrips, Lights, lasers. So is there a way you can get Rails with out paying for the defence rail.

I have been looking but can't seem to find any.

Before the rails came in, soldiers used to drill holes in the hand guard and screw those rails linked above to the standard green hand guard.

When there's a will there's a way.

They literally just drill into the plastic of the handguard, then screw the rail into place.

If he isn't happy doing that, just super-glue the rail onto the handguard. No where near as strong, but considerably easier.

We use to" borrow" the rear grips from L86A2's and with a repair washer a battery drill and a file you can get them to fit.

Although we had change the front hand guard come inspection time

People used to do it before the rail system was introduced, looks pretty good.

Chippings where did you get the photograph from?

That photo shows one of the plastic A2 hand guards. Around about 2006-8, as an interim measure (while the trials and production for the railed hand guard were on-going), the MoD procured a couple of thousand hand guards which had mounting points for rails pre-drilled in them. One set of holes on the bottom for a grip, and one on the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock position for the LLM (as seen there).

You can find these hand guards on eBay quite a lot. Usually sell for about £10-£50. (They only fit on ARES L85s though)
